Hi Ladies, I finally heard back about the documents required for legal marriage in jamaica and what to do about birth certificates that don't have the father's name... It looks like you need to send a copy of the bride and grooms birth certificate notarized in addition the a notarized letter stating the father's name. Here's the response from the coordinator. We are from Ontario Canada and our birth certificates do not have the fathers name. Can you please let me know what is required in this case? Attach a letter on each birth certificate stating the names of the fathers and have that letter notarized . Hope this helps!

We're taking a leap of faith based on reviews! We have stayed at the Iberostar in the Dominican and it was fantastic so we're pretty confident that the Iberostar in Jamaica won't disappoint!

Congrats Brenners and Merrylee on finding your dresses! They are both beautiful! I bought my dress on the weekend as well and I'm soooo excited! After all the stress I went through feeling like nothing was just right... I ended up with one of the first dresses I ever put on... I was comparing everything else to it and when I put it on again, I just knew that nothing could be better! It's Maggie Sottero Adorea and I can't wait to wear it!

I also sent Save the Dates out about 10 months before the wedding. The more time people have to plan and save the better I think! I plan on sending formal invitations in the fall (our date is January).

Thanks girls... This is my main concern as well... do you need the long form birth certificate (I'm assuming this is the one with the father's name) and if so how long does it take to get this?

Hey tamandrob! Where in Jamaica are you going? Are you doing a legal ceremony and if so do you happen to know anything about the legal documents we have to send ahead of time? The info I got from the hotel said we have to provide copies of Birth Certificates with the fathers name but Ontario birth certificates don't have this. I've emailed the wedding coordinator over a week ago but still haven't heard anything... I want to start getting everything in order in case it takes a while to get documents together!

Hi Nikadawn... I'm getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Jamaica.. same property as the Iberostar Beach and I booked with Debbie at Destination Anywhere in Ottawa. She is awesome and was able to get me the best rate for this property by far of any of the agents I tried... If you haven't booked yet, it might be worth a call. The carrier I booked with is Sunquest.

Punta Cana is beautiful and October is so close! You must be so excited!!! The discount is a great incentive! I'll have my mom and mother-in-law with me as well so maybe they can find something too! Did they charge you to hold the dresses? Did you end up getting the same dress for all the girls? I have a bunch of different body types and one girl is having a baby 3 months before the wedding and not even sure what size to get so I"m hoping it falls into place!

I didn't know that about Sophia Tolli.. that's ironic b/c I've tried a few on and thought they had the same sort of feel. Punta Cana is beautiful! I've been to the Iberostar and Catalonia there on vacation and loved every second. We're getting married in January at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay... I can't wait!

Hey girls, I did save the date luggage tags for our wedding and was having a hard time finding luggage tags that weren't really expensive. I ended up photo shopping an image and bringing it into Staples (office supply store). They were able to make the image the right size and laminated the image into luggage tags for me within an hour. I don't know how to upload photos but the looked very similar to the ones in the link above. We just added ribbon and a few decorations to make them look cute and voila! Cheap customized tags... I"m so excited to see others from Ottawa! Small world! Where are you getting married? Katiem - I'm sure you'll find it! Check out Alliance if your still stuck after the other stores.. They carry Maggie Sottero (both of the ones I'm considering are Maggie as well) and they have rooms and rooms full of gowns. Janet - It's great to hear that the service is just as good even after having purchased. Have you guys thought about Bridemaids dresses? Any stores I should be checking out. I was planning on getting the girls dresses at Alliance as well but I really haven't looked around all that much on this front.

Hi girls... I noticed some talk about florists... Now that I've booked a photographer (Misha Earle! So excited), the next thing I'm going to look at is florists. Any suggestions on a good one with reasonable prices would be a great help!

Hi girls... I'm so grateful to have this forum! Over the past few weeks, I don't know what's come over me but I'm wedding obsessed! Control freak would be an understatement and I'm still over 6 months away but I feel the need to get all the details in order now! Ahhh... deep breath....

Hi Katiem, I noticed your from Ottawa and that's where I am.... What stores have you gone to? I've checked out: Cedar Closet - Small selection but great customer service Hopes and Dreams bridal - Again, small selection but amazing service Dominique Levesque - good selection of dresses and ok service Sinders - Not impressed... Alliance Bridal (Moose Creek) - This stores selection blew me away! I have an appointment on Saturday with my mom and mother in law to purchase and of the 3 dresses I'm considering, they have all of them in stock! They also have a huge bridesmaids selection. A little far (about 45 minutes) but worth the drive for sure! Have you been to any others that might be worth checking out? I've been looking for about 3 months now and I promise you will find something!

I'm not sure how to post photos either but the one I keep comparing everything else too is the Maggie Sottero Adorae. I love the shape of it... it's fitted to just above the knees and then flares out. There is beading under the bust and rouching. It's so flattering and feels so glamorous! Writing this, I think I'm convincing myself more and more! haha

I checked it out on the website. It's so classic and elegant looking! I love the way the lace falls on the train!
