Hey! I was at the Dollerama in Canyon Meadows and i was also at one in the North the other day and they had tons of the travel size advil tubes in again... as for the shout wipes and such, i had to order mine online as i couldn't find them in Calgary ANYWHERE! and if Dollerama sells out, you can always go to walmart for tylenol and advil. they are 99 Cents more expensive.. but.. good in a pinch!

Hello Ladies, I just thought i would some a tidbit of info i got tonight from the WC.. and in case anyone had a similar question.. here is the answer... So i asked Silvia, ( Beach) if we have to pay the 18.00 per head for the wedding/dinner for our outside photographer ( and side shooters), along with the dollar amount per person per hour for the open bar... being that we are paying 75.00 per person PLUS the 100.00 vendor fee.. i stated that because they are working.. chances are they won't be drinking.. ( i am just assuming) and we are paying for the day passes and vendor fees, which technically is to cover these costs... WELL. they wrote back the following: Hello Jennifer, You will still have to pay the extra person charges for the for the photographer. Evan if they will pay the day pass, the wedding is a special event and need a special set up. This is where the extra charges coming in. Now, this charges will apply only if they will stay at the restaurant and eat with you otherwise (if they go to the buffet to eat) you will not have to pay the charges. I think that is ridiculous... why would i ask my photographer to eat at the buffet.. when they are going to be taking pictures of the dinner and all of that stuff... these extra charges just seem like such a money grab. *sigh* i sure wish hindsight was 20/20 As much as i know my wedding will be perfect and everything i dreamed of etc... the nickel and diming and all of the "hidden costs" that are incurred.. it is just getting ridiculous.. I am done my vent.. and just wanted to share this, incase anyone else was curious.

Thanks ladies.. i agree with you!! my favorite one was the first one also... i have three bridesmaids.. and asked them to tell me which one they liked the best.. and 2 of the three picked dress #2.. Soooo Dress number 2 it is.. I was then going to let the two that liked dress #1 have that one, and the one that liked dress #2, have that one.. however. because they ae different materials, they would have been different shades.. so they all got the same ... Hey!! I just wanted to give you ladies an update ... for those of you if you read my bridesmaid dress disaster in previous posts..I have been searching feverioushly all week, and all over for new dresses.. ... after much research and store hopping etc.. we found a dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to order it from David's bridal online as we dont have a david's bridal anywhere near where i live, and all of the stores here weren't carrying that summer color anywhere!!! The dress color i chose is called Cornflower.. as it was the closest to Aqua. turquoise blue i could get... i chose my two favorite styles and then just let my bridesmaids choose which one they liked.. and the most votes wins lol.. below are the two i chose for them.. in cornflower.. lemme know what you ladies think!!! Thanks for the ideas!!! oooh!!! and the David's bridal is a cool idea.. please let me know when it opens!! maybe me and the Calgary girls will have to take a road trip and meet up with my Athabasca girl! meet in the middle and make a day of it!! this is good for a last resort i suppose!! Like i said, one of my girls is a bigger girl, she is about a size 24 or so ( and 9 months pregnant right now to boot! which also causes a bit of an issue) lol .. so i don't know that Le Chateau and beyond the rack is an option.. and this is why i have sort of always gone the online shopping route, as it has allowed me to pick a dress that goes in all different size ranges..

I am currently trying to find a store that we can go try ones on, but that have a gfood selection of info online too so we can look that way... yep... the dresses are Horrendous!! they don't match at all... ugh! we bnought them from www.dressale.com and unfortunately yeah.. i found out later they are from hong Kong.. the return policy on thier website actually wasnt that bad... so i thought it would be okay.. they even have a quality guarantee if you can believe it!!! I told them that the dress didn't match any quality guarantee.. as it was garbage.. and they just responded by saying they feel the dress is beautiful.. and it matches " close enough" to the others.. that it will look beautiful. absolutel garbage!!!! lol I got my edible starfish from cakesbysam.com .. they are just made out of molding chocolate and fondant.. I am pretty happy with it also... we got it from www.weddingwhimsy.com .. they have all kinds of different seashell and starfish cake toppers and other accessories perfect for the beach wedding she was really good to deal with too! check it out! That is a good idea about finding a dress and then searching nearby stores for the bridesmaids out of town... we are actually going to go to cross iron mills mall here soon and see if we can find anything there... and we will also check Laura... as they have a petite, regular and plus size section.. which is a bonus.. being that my girls are different sizes, this may make it easier to find something that will fit all of them.. I will keep you ladies posted on how i make out! Thank you for the ideas on rw&co and thos eplaces.. i will definatly check them out!!! you are right.. even if they can go in and try the dress style on, i can order them in the proper colors etc... once we find a style etc.. I agree Tori, i was seriously seeing RED on friday! and then again on saturday when i was fighting with this company.. you should see some of the emails i wrote them... and it didn't even phase them.. they are completly okay with thier craftmanship... just crazy... I am a little worried on the BM brand dresses too though, becuase then i am looking at soo much more money.. and i didn't want anything too fancy, as my dress is fairly simple, and the Guys are just in Guayabera shirts and linen pants.. I know last resort though i will be looking at places like that... This is the only problem i have ever had with online shopping ( unfortunately this would be one of the most important things lol... ) but up until now i have had all good luck! after my rant about the dress nightmare.. I needed to post something that makes me happy heheheh i got my Cake topper on friday.. and i LOVE it!!!!!! ( it is real starfish, painted )

Hey Ladies!!! I am in a bind right now.. and i am hoping to vent and lean on you ladies.. i am a cross between crying and laughing.... and really not sure where to go from here! Soo! I have a maid of honor and two bridesmaids. Each girl ordered their own dresses ( all the same dress, and same website) and each one of them had several issues with the dress when it came in. #1, all three of them ended up being different colors... so we added different shades of blue to our wedding colors to make it work around the dresses.. which was no problem.. The last bridesmaid just got her dress on Friday.. and it is absolutely hideous!!!! i have attached pictures below, so you could see the difference in two of the dresses... the first one is okay.. the 2nd one.. just horrendous!!! when we complained to the company.. they told us that they looked just fine and they thought the dress is beautiful.. and that the two dresses below are close enough to eachother and will look good in the wedding.. and they will not refund us nor will they make a new one. they told us they will make a new one for a discounted price of 60.00 USD, plus shipping. and they told us if we really don't like it, then we can take it to a tailor to get fixed... At this point.. i am sooo angry.. I don't want to look at these dresses ever again. it is just ruined for me.. and now i find them all ugly.. lol I am just soo upset! i am 4 months away from my wedding.. and I now have these horrendous dresses that do not match... and the last pic below.. looks NOTHING like online.. I can't make the girls buy a 2nd dress.. so my FI and I are now forced to buy 3 dresses we didn't budget for.. which sucks.. but the other thing is.. now what?! The bridesmaid that got the bottom pictured dress.. is now being very difficult.. and doesn't want to order a dress online.. but i have three bridesmaids that are all different sizes, and one that lives in a different city.. The dresses below, it is hard to see in the 2nd pic, as it was a close up of the embellishment... but the sash on the front is different.. the material is flowy in the front on the first dress.. but just sewn on the front in the 2nd one.. The dress is absolute garbage... Does anyone have any suggestions on maybe a good REPUTABLE place for good dresses ? I just really don't even know what to do... ugh.. Yup!! They are just white, made out of modeling chocolate.. My Aunt is a cake decorator, so i went to "cakesbysam.com" and ordered them.. big ones and small ones.. and then i ordered a starfish mold from there so my aunt can make more!.. i also bought the dusting powder in our wedding colors so we can dust the white starfish with some color I also got the large sugar starfish for my arch, and decoration.. i got them from Ebay believe it or not.. from a company by the name of Florida Shells and gifts. the sellers name was " anyname99" got them for a decent price.. they came super well packed, and not one broke!! they are awesome! mine are all about 8' starfish so they were perfect!! My wedding favors are the white finger starfish, with little tags with our names on them and our wedding date.. they are adorable.. i got them from hansonellis.com ( picture off of the net shown below. ) Then, for the small starfish for the backs of my chairs on the sashes, i got them for super cheap from orientaltrading.com Hope that helps!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that!!! we chose to go with Misha Earle in Jamaica.. her work is amazing! her prices are cheaper than bringing someone with us.. ad she is so quick to respond and work with you.. she is awesome!! www.mishaearlephotography.com or she is on Facebook under Misha Earle Photography.. you can see her work, and contact her for package info etc.. she travels to the different areas, and no extra cost.. and on top of that, she covers the vendor fee and visitor fee for her and her side shooters.. so it is no extra cost for you if the resort charges you to have outside vendors.. hope that helps!

I heard that too about the troubles with starfish.. but honestly.. mine is a starfish theme wedding.. with a starfish cake topper ( with real starfish) and i ordered starfish wedding favors, ( real starfish) and starfish decorations for my arch and chair sashes ( real also) and i never had one single problem getting them to canada. I ordered them from all different companies and places, and even ordered edible starfish for my cake.. and everyting came A.OK so although i heard that from somewhere also.. i have order a TON of real starfish .. and had no problems...

We are doing OOT Bags and we are doing starfish wedding favors.. they are white finger starfish, with a blue tag with our names and wedding date on them... they are going on the tables at each place setting, so it will act as both a wedding favor, as well as table decoration..We are also doing fans at each chair for everyone ti keep, at the ceremony... Hey Ladies!!!! For those that have already sent your Notarized documents to the resort... It says in all of the docs to send the notarized papers via Purolator, UPS, DHL etc... has anyone sent them via express post rather than the couriers?? Only reason i am asking.. is i was just quoted from the courier companies.. between 61.00 and 87.00 to mail 4 pieces of paper!!!!!!!!!!! i went to 4 of them.. and the cheapest was Purolator, at 61.00.. I just find that is sooo expensive.. for 4 pieces of paper.. so i was thinking of just sending them via Canada post, express post.. that way they are still tracked.. but will be so much cheaper.... Thoughts, advise or stories on what you other ladies did??

Oh MY GOSH!!!!!!! i am soo sorry that happened to you... Can they even do that? I mean i was told when we were originally looking at what company to travel with and what vacation package to use, we were advised not to use Sunquest because they sometimes cancel flights, if not enough people book on them etc... and we wanted something secure and something that would not change or be cancelled... but honestly.. cancelling or changing a flight is one thing.. cancelling on you and telling you you have only the option of moving your vacation out an entire week?!?!?! i mean.. really?!?!?!? That is ridiculous... !!!!!!! i would be causing a stink indeed as that is unacceptable. i am so sorry you have to deal with this... and i dont blame you for being MAD!!! i would be too!!!!!

I am waiting to hear back from the WC on the different options i have, along with prices... and my FI and i will go from there.. it does suck.. but!! i can't do anything about it, so i need to pull up my big girl panties, suck it up and move on Thanks for the kind words *hug* i will keep ya all posted for sure!!

Yes! it is definatly something to keep in mind.. as those fees can quickly add up! ( 100.00 vendor fee, plus 75.00 day pass per person.) The photographers always have a side shooter, so that is 250.00 USD just in fees on top of the photographer fees.. so that is a bg jump.. and a nice bnonus when the photographer covers all of those fees in the price of thier packages.. Misha Earle states on her contract she will cover up to 500$.. so that covers all of the fees for the Iberostar..

Awww I am soo sorry to hear you are dealing with that... I am fortunate enough that 99% of my guests have booked, and we are at the Beach and no one has had any issued yet * knock on wood* for our week... but maybe your guests could book at the Grand and the Beach... they may have to pay for the day pass but really that would not be too bad.. and noone will blame you! if anything they will blame themselves for not booking sooner.. , The other option would be that maybe you could think about moving your actual wedding day to the Beach, that way no one will have to pay for the day pass.. and they do beautiful weddings also from what i hear ( at least i hope so, as that is where we are getting married ) heheh Hope you day gets better darlin!!! *hugs*

Also just to add to this, Misha Earle pays for all of the resort fees for outside guests and vendor fee. But i have to tell you, you will have to let the WC know this, as what they will do is charge Misha the 75.00 per person fee and then still charge you the 100 vendor fee on the wedding bill. When i let the WC know that Misha is paying for all of the fees from the resort, she advised she will put it in my file.. and Misha Earle will pay for those.

Okay Ladies.. i just have to vent here. I am SOOOO sad right now... I am getting married on a Thursday, and we wanted to have a Bonfire on the beach, with a DJ and open bar for two hours, for our after dinner reception and dance. I was told by the Beach WC, Silvia, that because my wedding is the night of the beach party for the resort, i am allowed to have a bonfire and open bar, but i am not allowed to have a DJ!!!! She said that the beach party has a DJ and open bar, on a different section of the beach, but that there can only be one DJ at a time.. sooo my wedding suffers.. .... We are releasing sky lanterns. so i am soo sad that we can't have a dj on the beach for our reception. so now i have NO IDEA what we are going to do. as i need a dj for the dances... ugh.. i am just soo disappointed and sad. Any advise would be awesome.. cause i am just feeling lost right now.. i mean... a wedding with no dance portion for my friends and family is just not an option for me. i have a first dance.. father daughter dance.. and mother son dance.. how do you do all of this with no friggen DJ? she did say we could have a cocktail party with a DJ and open bbar etc... but then we would be inside.. and i have the sky lanterns... so i don;t know if that would work. *sigh*.

I was thinking of originally using the resort photographer, however after alot of thought and looking into the photos of the resort versus outside photographers,there was no comparison for quality and originality. So we decided to book Misha Earle. Her work is amazing, and for the amount of photos you get with her etc.. it is priced wayy better than the resort photographer and her photos are amazing! if you contact her, she is really quick to respond and will send you her pricing. Hope that Helps!!!

I hear ya!!!!! The WC alwys responds to me within a day or two.. however unless you know exactly which questions to ask for details on things, they are not forthcoming on all of the information! so thank goodness for this message board, or i would be 130% CLUELESS!!!!! as the only real good info i have gotten from the WC was in response to the questions i ask her. If they made a complete information booklet... that would be so helpful.. instead of a couple page document with a few tidbits of info.. *sigh* oh well .. thank goodness we all share our info and can help inform eachother!!
