We are doing a package. You could contact her to see if she is able to do flights for you but you may be better off to contact the group flight department of the airlines yourself. Sorry I can't be more help, don't have experience with just flights and TAs. Pauline has been so great and informative so if nothing else I hope she'd be able to provide you some information!

Most TAs (all I have been in contact with) even those not from the big online sources do not charge a fee for services! We have guests coming from Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, Saskatoon, Vancouver... all over really! Our TA was great about finding a common day that everyone could depart on. I originally used tripcentral.ca because they have great grids that let you know travel dates by hotel, city, country etc. I used it to find a common date that everyone from our different departure cities could fly out on because our first few TAs had people flying out up to 5 days apart! That just didn't work for us! It seems silly to pay a TA to deal with the resorts WC, unless you are having trouble communicating with the WC yourself. Our has been so great that I wouldn't imagine paying someone to email with her just as I can do. Hopefully you figure something out.

Our TA got us cheaper rates than anything we were seeing online. We contacted several TAs before we found the right one. The first ones we contacted we also coming back with rates higher than online... didn't make sense! Our TA: Pauline Blacoe [email protected] Give her a try she has been fantastic for us and that way all our guests will be contacting her to book rather than contacting us for every little detail!

Beachbum DEFINITELY use a travel agent. You need to search for the right one (we went through 5 as JQ knows from a previous post lol) before we found the right one but the rates she got us are cheaper than what we found on any online site. I don't know what you mean by "pay for a TA" we are not "paying" our TA, I believe she gets commission off of our bookings but directly we are not paying her anything. We just pay our package and that rate is STILL cheaper than online. How our package works is we have 30 spots held and they are held at the rate for 3 months (90days) from the date we booked. To secure one of these spots our guests have to put down a $200 deposit before the 90 days is up and then full payment is due at the beginning of October. I would say to contact some TAs and see what they say because for us it was definitely worth it. I am still working with the WC at the hotel to do the planning part (very easy, booked date, secured location for ceremony, dinner and reception, make other decisions when we get there) but my TA is a destination wedding specialist so she is also able to answer questions that the average TA couldnt! I wish I was Italian! All my Italian girlfriends ONLY get money, I guess it is a cultural thing! One bought her house with her wedding money because they got enough for a great downpayment! Dont think I want the 400 person wedding thought so I guess it's a trade off!!!

$1000 for an outside photographer!!! that is RIDICULOUS! We chose Majestic Colonial, they charge $300 for outside photographer (Phil is excluded) but they don't charge anything if you bring someone with you that stays at the resort (I guess then they are technically a guest). Pictures are something we didnt want to give up either but with the $1000 outside fee you may be better off to bring a photog from home... depending on resort rules on that! Have you set the date? Are you 100% decided on Melia?

JBean - I know what yo mean about being nervous, every time I send mine to be cleaned or dipped I panic it wont be my diamond when I get it back! I know its crazy but it would be SO SO easy for a jeweller to do and how would anyone know the better?! Be sure to share pictures when you decide what to do! I would love to see it!! We are considering getting my ring re-set. FI does not love the idea but I have tried on SO many bands with my ring and nothing looks right. I am thinking we will get it set on a pave band and then my wedding right will be a pave eternity band as well. I want to do the double bands but don't know if we'll dish out the money right away for two, especially if I get it reset! You wouldn't believe how much trouble I am having trying to find a setting though! I want a very simple thing pave band (for my e-ring setting) and everything is just not right!

JQLong - isn't it crazy. We got the quotes from Pauline decided we would go with her on wednesday we got emails from 2 TAs we basically stopped dealing with saying theyd have rates by the monday.... well we didn't want to wait and we trusted and liked how Pauline treated us and so we just booked her on the Friday. Monday roles around... nothing from the 2 TAs ... tuesday....wednesday... well it is now FRIDAY and I STILL haven't heard from them. I feel like emailing them and saying "It's my WEDDING" so you think we can just wait forever! I can laugh about it now because we found such a great travel agent but I feel awful for any brides that are dealing with those other two! Good luck and let me know how it goes!!!!

Jenna, I don't think he only shoots at Majestic. The Majestic actually has a separate resort photographer, Phil just shoots there so much that he can shoot there without a vendor fee! Have you tried emailing him or contacting him through facebook? He is very quick to respond! You can message him on facebook photophil steingard or he is an admin on the majestic colonial brides group as well!! We just booked him today for our February 2012 wedding!!!

Congrats and welcome to the forum! I can't believe you have the exact number of guests already, that is fantastic! We are getting married at the Majestic Colonial in February you can check out a great facebook group with a lot of information on the resort such search "majestic colonial brides" on facebook. Also this site has a TON of information on Punta Cana weddings but if you nee anything just ask!!! We booked our photographer today!!!

We are always here to hear a good vent Tracey, better we vent to each other!!! I heard the rotating strike thing to so I am not as worried! We sent ours Tuesday and we got calls last night saying people received them so that's good news!! Booked our photographer today we are using Phil Steingard he does A TON of wedding at the Majestic Colonial so he is almost like a 2nd WC for us! Another thing off my list so I may sit back for a bit, let some RSVPs come in and then start on some other DIY stuff!

I am so shoe obsessed I cannot decide what to wear!!! This will be great to go through and get some ideas!

Thanks roxy! I think I am going to carry mine on too! Between ourselves, family and bridal party I think we can definitely make it work! I am only going to bring 5-6 centre pieces anyways so I should be fine!!! I also dont wanting me wasting my vacation search for somewhere in Punta Cana that sells vases!

Another bride ordered from weddinglinnensdirect for her runners and chairs sashes and she said they were a great price and came really quickly. If you do that you can ALWAYS sell them later to recoop some of the cost!!!

We are having the same problem! My ring is just a basic solitaire but the band is tapered and so only the matching band fits with it perfectly... well I HATE the corresponding band! I think the regular band with the space actually looks quite nice, like skybride said it looks architectural and where your ring is so unique I think it works! I also like the suggestion of not wearing a wedding band if that is something you are ok with! Custom designed can be so expensive but if you aren't happy with the other options I would suggest doing it because you will never be happy if you sacrifice now! JQLong (sorry I don't know your real name) have you considered doing a honeymoon registry for your at home reception? It is so hard to say monetary gifts only without upsetting people our causing a great deal of gossip about it! If you do a honeymoon registry guests basically give you money towards your honeymoon! That way it's still money, you get a great trip out of it and guests feel like they aren't just giving cash! We have registered for the same reason as most, all the questions about it! But we really got bored of it so only really rang in our bigger ticket items! We really need to go in and add some smaller things but we have lived together for 4 years and own all our things so really dont need a toaster or towels! We have sent out to invites to everyone but when guests book we are going to send out an itinerary or "thanks for booking" invite that will say something like "We are so pleased that you will be joining us in paradise to celebrate our marriage. Please know that your presence is your present and it means the world to us! If anyone else has any other ideas I would love to hear them!

JQLong - definitely contact her! She has been fantastic and the lowest rate we have seen so far. The other TAs still insist on sending me rates THREE WEEKS later and asking what they can do to get our business.... um maybe you should have taken us seriously to start with! Sorry for the vent!!! I have done all my correspondence through email and she has been so prompt, we just called once to make our deposit because I didn't want to give my CC# over email!!! She isn't even close to us but I found her on a facebook group I am part of for my resort and she really is wonderful! Send her an email and I am sure she can help you out!!!

meeshamillz - I saw iron on transfer paper at Walmart the other day (in Canada but I am sure it is in the same in the states). They had 3 or 4 different kinds and when I read the back there was one that said transfer onto canvas! I would definitely check it out, it was in the office section right near the cardstock and labels! Hope this helps and if you go ahead with something let us know!! I will definitely be personalizing too!!! Oh also, where'd you find your totes?! Post a pic!!!!
