Show us your wedding dress!
torilynnsmith replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Not sure if you are talking about "knock off" or "replica" dresses but there is a great thread about them "post your knockoff questions" this should help answer all your questions about ordering online from a dress maker overseas who does "replica" dresses! -

This looks amazing, did you bring the ribbon with you? Is it two different sizes of ribbon? or did they just lay it side by side for the thicker sections?! Thanks in advance! This is awesome!!!! -

Guest book ideas - to plate or not...
torilynnsmith replied to Sharon99's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
No no no , I guess I didn't explain it well. The white board is used by the guests to write the message on then they take a photo of them holding the white board and the PICTURE is the guest book entry! The white board is erased between each guest! I will find the link to a great thread about it and post it for you! I am going to get my BM and her husband to do it together, give them a list of the guests and they will do it between our wedding ceremony and our dinner hopefully! -

We are doing the whiteboard photobooth guest book. If you search on this site you will see some great examples of it. We will being having the husband of one of my BM who has a fancy dancy camera do the pictures for us. I have a chalk board and will be getting a white board. Basically he will go to everyone and get them to write a message of the wishes for us on the white board or chalk board and then take a photo of them holding it. We will put it together in a book and that will be our guestbook. I hope I explained it well enough, but seriously search the forums and you will find tons of ideas. Another Idea would be: - engagement print signed. You have a print of one of your engagement pictures or something and you can either do it on canvas and they sign directly on the picture of they can sign the matting and then you have that to hang. Another option would be to just bring the photo mat and then you get them to sign that and after you return home have one of your wedding pics framed and matted under it. -

Beachbum - love your sunglass line that is so cute!!!!!!! As for our OOTs we estimated 36 bags and I am upping it to 40 now I think. We just went through our list and "guestimated" like you said you have a good idea of how many people. We are going 1 bag per couple and 1 for each single. We think we will do a different bag for the single guys (still have to pick those up) and I think I will do a more expensive bag for my BMs (we did dollar tree totes for everyone else, theyre amazing bags but if I need extras I can save 3 by using my BMs ones), we can do the same for our parents if need be. Like you said you have a good idea of how many people so we are just hoping we have done ok at this point, I didn't plan on doing them so quickly but when I was in the states I found so much I was looking for so I just went for it! I also only found 36 dollartree totes so it was kind of a sign solidifying what I planned lol

February 2012 Brides!!!!!!

Wanted to share some of my latest DIY project, The first hanger is for my best friend who is getting married on the 23rd of this month. I will be giving it to her at her surprise bachelorette/shower and really hope she likes it!!!! The second is my first attempt at my own hanger... and the last picture is my shell pomander, I will have 10 of these lining my aisle on the sheppard hooks I picked up from where else... DOLLARAMA!!!!! We were originally going to do flower or tissue pomanders but my mom found these and I fell in LOVE! They are so unique and I love that they are different! -
Well Dominiqueamber, since you brought it up I thought I would share my DIY wire name hangers. When I saw them I too was determined to DIY them myself. I bought the hangers at our local dollar store 3 for $2 and I even got the wire there too, only $1.25 for A LOT! I thought I would get it before investing in other wire because if I mess up too bad I am not throwing money down the drain. I first attempted to do it with my bare hands.... it worked OK but not as tight as I would have liked. I invested in a pir of jewelry making needle nose pliers at Michaels (under $5 on sale this weekend) and went back at it! I wanted to make one for my Best Friend who is getting married on the 23rd of this month and I am her MOH. I will be holding a surprise bachelorette/shower for her on the 20th and want to give it to her then. I finished hers (may attempt it one more time, let me know if you think it is any good lol) and then did a mock up of my own!!!!!!! I removed the wood bar that was attached in the hanger (for pants or something) and attached the wire there. I considered doing them all wire but like the "durability" of the wood hanger as you know that it will hold the dress lol!!! I lined the underside of the hanger with ribbon (her colour is pink for mine I just did ivory) to give it a more finished looked and to cover up where the wire is attached. Let me know what you think ladies!!! I am considering doing MOH and BM ones for my wedding but not certain. I could also do their names.....

Post Groom and GM attire
torilynnsmith replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Laurelyn we are doing the same thing!!!!!! FI in a jacket (no tie) and GM just in pants and shirt!!! I love the look and think it makes the Bride and Groom stand out against their group, also I know our GM will be happy not to wear a jacket and it goes with our casual elegance vibe we want!!!!! Thanks for the link I will check it out, I didn't see any in store the last time I was in but we could always order online! -
Just thought I would update you ladies on my situation and hopefully provide some insight with dealing withs such situations. Recently I have found a 180 degree difference with regards to my wedding and my parents. My mom has been SO amazing taking an interest in everything and my Dad has seemed to totally come on board. Last week when I was visiting I was talking to my dad and told him how much it meant to me and he asked if I knew what changed. He told me it was my attitude and my approach that had changed, I had trouble agreeing with this but have been making a conscious effort to not shut people down and say no when it came to wedding suggestions etc so I listened. I was a very interesting perspective and I realized he could be right! I was so defensive about the "nagativity" surrounding our wedding that I was constantly pushing everyone away and shutting them down. They were just asking questions and I took it as an inquisition just because I felt that everyone was going to be or was being negative! Since I have been more open minded and accepted that this is our wedding and we are going to enjoy it but still welcome those that can be apart of it the whole dynamic has changed. Hopefully you ladies can also take something from this, whether my dad is right or not it changed my attitude and I feel more positive and supported all around!!! I hope all you ladies can get to this point as it is your wedding and it is so important to feel GREAT about it!
