Trash the Dress....yes or no???
torilynnsmith replied to sojahseh81's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am!!!! I figured it would be nice as we already would have a "relationship" and be comfortable. Also her assistant (fiance) who also photographs will be there so we will have 2 photographers for our wedding and our TTD!!! I am so excited about the TTD session!!!!! -
You can do your own sand ceremony script or you could ask your officiant if they would do it for you I am sure. As for sand from the beach I have heard that if it is not perfectly dry that it does not "flow" very well. This would be a concern for sure if you were relying on using sand from the beach. I remember reading another bride mentioning they had picked it up day one and laid it out on their balcony in a thin layer to dry out. Too much work when you can get sand at the DOLLAR store even in the different colours!!!!!

Great site for wedding favors
torilynnsmith replied to Milly11's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Thanks for sharing! Sadly they don't ship to Canada -
So once deciding on OOT bags for my own wedding I became OBSESSED with them and since mine are pretty much complete (If I could only get my wandering shopping eyes under control) I decided we would do a similar idea for my best friends bachelorette on Wednesday!!!! I will be flying in for her wedding as it is in Halifax Nova Scotia (where I used to live) and I am in Toronto, Ontario. She did not ask for a bachelorette and her Mom help an intimate family shower for her in June but since myself and 2 other of her 4 bridesmaids couldn't make it as we are all flying in from out of town I really wanted to do something special for her. She said we would have our own bachelorette/slumber party (back to our kiddie days) at the hotel the night before the wedding just her and her BMs but I feel she was only saying this because she didn't want any of us to feel obligated to come in ahead of time. She is so awesome and I really wanted to throw and Surprise party for her but since she is not a go downtown hard partying drinking kind of girl annnnnnd I don't live in the same city anymore it definitely took a little work and organizing. I hope all goes well this coming Wednesday when we try and pull off a surprise at her own home!!!!! We will be doing an At Home Spa Party, all the ladies chose a service and the spa is coming to us, we will have drinks and snacks and play my favourite take on the lingerie party (the panty game) and so I thought celebrity style "swag bags" were the perfect addition to our low key bachelorette for my bff. I thought I would share with my fellow brides and DIYers as much can be the same for our wedding OOTs but it is also a nice idea for your own showers or bachelorettes!!!!!! As always I will include a detailed price breakdown and shopping list!!!! I created stickers with the logo I also designed and each guests name on it (the bag pictured is for the "Mother of the Groom" and stuck them to green cardstock which I then glued to pink cardstock (her colours). I also created personalized labels for the lip chap and bubbles (templates below) The "Swag Bags" The Contents (Coconut Key Lime Candle, Body Pouf, Nail Kit, Bubble Bath, Lip Chap) Bubble Bath front label up close (there is also a back label with the ingredients etc.) Shopping List and Price Break Down Bags -$0.50 each 2 for $1 at Dollarama (CANADA) Tissue - $0.05 each 20 sheets for $1 at Dollarama (CANADA) Nail Kits (include bamboo cuticle stick, large file, foot file, clippers and toe separators) -$1 Dollar Tree (US) Candle - 1 for $1 at Michaels (US) they have them in Canada for $1.50 Bubble Bath - $0.64 each 7 for $4.49 at The Bargain Shop (CANADA) Lip Chap Aquafina Brand - $0.63 2 for $1.25 at Dollarama (CANADA) Pouf - $0.20 each 5 for $1 at Everything for a Dollar Store (US) - best deal I found thought I believe dollarama has 4 for $1 now... look around you can get these cheap cheap! Ribbon for bag tags - $1.00 or $0.05 per bag (we did 20 bags) Card stock - $3 on sale at michaels for a package of 60 sheets or $0.15 per bag (obviously did not use it all and was able to use some for my own OOT bag labels!!!) Sticker Labels - $0.60 each 25 sheets for $14.99 at Staples (staples brand) (CANADA) Printing $4.00 total or $0.20 per bag - I had the labels printed at staples as I was out of ink for my printer and wanted to get them done this was NOT the cheapest option but it made sense at the time! Total Cost per bag - $5.02 or approximately $5.73 with tax (tax rate is all different in US and Canada but I used the higher of the two for arguments sake) I wanted to keep the bags around $5 a bag for contents and I was able to do the contents, bags, tissue and printing along with a ton of personalization annnnnd tax for under $6 so I am VERY happy with the final costs! I hope you like the bags!!!!!! Happy planning labels.pptx labels - bubbles.pptx

show us your rings!
torilynnsmith replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Bride and JayKay I TOTALLY know how you feel!!!!! We moved up to Peterborough in April and I have ONE friend from University who lives here, well my ring was in getting some repairs for about 2 weeks but that was when I met one of my friends friends who is now my friend (confusing?!) and her running joke is that I never wear my ring! I never take my ring off so this "joke" is getting a bit much lol but she always says it!!! I was like I had no ring for 2 weeks it wasn't my fault. I am totally with JayKay, I want to pick up an inexpensive "fakey" that looks like my ring for when it goes for inspection, cleanings and repairs lol -
Lucky luvmoo is so welcoming on her thread as I am constantly on it!! So firstly BIG THANKS to luvmoo, must be the Canadian in you I haven't printed mine yet, we were away from Thursday to today and I leave tomorrow for the wedding I am MOH in next weekend but I plan on printing them at home (I have printed all my DIYs at home) and printing them on cover stock. I used cardstock for most DIYs but coverstock is a little thicker so I think it will work better.... I will keep everyone posted on how my printer takes it lol I know staples refuses to print on cover stock

Show us your wedding dress!
torilynnsmith replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
HI Lindy, if this is for me my dress is not a replica it was purchased from Taylor's Bridal Boutique and is a pronovias gown. I was lurking around the replica thread for awhile so I figured this may be for me but I ended up going with a direct from designer gown instead as I just fell in love with it and knew I would find SOMETHING wrong with a replica. Good luck in your hunt! -
Post your centerpieces here
torilynnsmith replied to bethtamar's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I am obsessed with the lanterns but was worried about transport too!! Another near idea is to use the flameless candles or tealights that way they 1) wont blow out 2) you aren't afraid they don't get blown out at the end of the night or knocked over etc. I was planning on using them but now am not so sure..... I am thinking we may incorporate them on the cake table or something.... not sure now! -
Clean your engagement ring
torilynnsmith replied to skp1's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Good tip!!! I never even thought of the contrast in metals, particularly if you have a white gold that needs to be dipped once in awhile a freshly dipped ring looks soooo much nicer! -

Has anyone had any luck with heels or wedges in the sand? I was looking at a few shoes with a thin wedge like this one below. Wedge heel too skinny for the sand? Any suggestions? I LOVE LOVE LOVE these, another bride posted her flip flops and they looked just like this but were Steve Madden, they didn't have these in "Big Girl" sizes did they?! I LOVE these and want them for my BMs Target would save me a few $$ lol Funny thing is the steve maddens are called groom LOL here is the link! http://www.zappos.com/steve-madden-grooom-rhinestone -

Trash the Dress....yes or no???
torilynnsmith replied to sojahseh81's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
In regards to the timing thing, we are doing our TTD at sunrise and the shoot is 1hour - 1.5 hours so not a ton of time. We will start around 6AM and 7AM I think and will be done before most of our guests are even up (except a few of those EARLY risers). Our photographer recommended doing this for a few reasons (either sunrise or sunset) 1) no one or a lot fewer people on the beach so feels a lot more private and no "gawkers" 2) don't loose a day with guests and for yourself! I am really looking forward to our TTD session!!!! -
If you only want to do a 2ct advil it isn't a bad deal but you may be better off finding lots on ebay or amazon as they both have .ca addresses and you will save on shipping and such. I wanted the larger advils as I know it is something people will use most so I thought the $2 was DEFINITELY worth it!!!! If you do a search about minimus on here you will find a couple other threads who discuss it and will give you better info on shipping and duty etc. I don't remember exactly what was said, it was awhile back when I read it and I truthfully found minimus a bit overpriced for such small portions Good luck, I will ask my MIL where they go shopping as FI is from Nepean and she and her sister go once and awhile, we go to Buffalo all the time but thats a little further for you!

Oh that is fantastic! I am so glad I can help!!! I was very happy FI was not with us on this particular US shopping excursion as my mom and I are on the same wave length when we're shopping and I think he may have strangled the both of us!!!! I love the sounds of your colours and look forward to hearing what great finds you pick up along your travels!!! As a Canadian bride is it hard sometimes so I am glad that you can get a US trip in and take advantage of the HUGE price different. Everything at michaels here is at least 50% mark up (was there the other day) so if you have a trip planned to the states it is soooo worth it to pick the stuff up there!!! Enjoy and thanks again Gotta love Walmart, I am actually going to head back over to the states and pick up a few more. We were at a family get together in FIs mom and dad's home town this weekend and found out about 15-20 people we weren't expecting are coming!!!! We are more than happy to have them but also don't want them to feel left out when everyone else is carrying around their mugs and bags... and I thought my OOT bag days were behind me! haha!!!!
