Dollar Tree Tote Bags
torilynnsmith replied to kball21's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
They are out of stock online and basically sold out in most stores as far as I know from visiting stores myself and talking to other brides! If you don't need them til next summer I would say start checking dollartrees website in february and order them online as SOON as you see them! They sold out SO quickly!!!!!!!! -
Thanks, I think ACV has new rules as the additional bag (economy) is $20 now (each way - not too bad) I tried searching the ACV website for info on the free upgrade for the bride and groom and can't find anything..... I am hesitant to message my TA before I am certain this is something through ACV...... Can anyone advise as to whether they are receiving the same thing? I am so jealous of you luvmoo but would love love love if we can get the same upgrade!!! What a huge difference this would make, and a nice touch for the bride and groom!

I mentioned this to a friend (she's a nurse) and she said to be careful as they usually have a "menthol" smell and that you probably wouldn't want that!!! Just wanted to share something to look out for! Adorae?!?! -
Alright, first off sorry in advance, I have been away for the last 5 days for my best friends wedding (yay!!! She's a MRS!!!!!) and am just getting caught up lol Natalie, we will be bringing our OOT with us and giving them to our guests once we arrive. I am not sure if we will go to each room (if we can get a list) or if we will do a "welcome" drinks thing but I would like to make it personal and a big surprise. I wouldn't want to give them out at the airport, #1 the hassle of carrying them all in and organizing meeting your guests while lugging all these bags, 2 expecting them to carry them on or put them in their luggage (they may not have space or be allowed!) and 3 the liquids and other items that you can't carry on would be an issue I am afraid. Quote: Originally Posted by Manda123 I've been having the same dilemma... Has anyone thought about giving them out the airport? Would this work with security and customs? With the exception of a handful of people, my group is all flying out together. Haven't seen them there, will have to check it out! What section were they in? With all the other travel mugs? Is it 3 bags between you or 3 bags EACH?! So you are allowed 6 bags total between the 2 of you?! That is amazing! We are with ACV and I heard nothing of this. Emailing TA now.... gawd she annoys me! You can also get tide travels like this!!!!!!! I think is it such a great idea!

They are on sale now?! Oh no!!!!! I wonder if Walmart does price adjustments....... I may be making another trip in the next 2 weeks... I wonder if they'll have many left. Do you know if the smaller mugs (18 oz tumblers) are on sale as well?! It seems early for them to go on sale don't you think? I find the tumblers MUCH easier to pack as they are not as big and bulky and also don't have the handles so they lay nice and close together!

OMG!!!!!!!! This dress is stunning, you are stunning and this whole picture is stunning!!!!!!! Was this just taken at the salon when you tried it on? It is such a professional picture with great lighting and shadows I LOVE it!!!! The dress seems to fit you perfect already! OOOOOO This is a gorgeous gown too, basically the other "look" I was deciding between!!! Who is the designer and what is the name of the dress? What an amazing tip! I never even thought of this!!!!!!! -
When I saw the first picture I thought the dress looked great and so promising in regards to an end result, the more updated pictures are still a very very nice dress just NOT what you were looking for. Did you ask them to make it a short dress? Like "atalanta" said, maybe if they had followed your instructions with the lace underneath it would look different too. In no way do I think the dress looks "bad" I just don't think it looks like what you wanted..... I think the bodice is absolutely stunning and I love the 1 strap with the detail I am just very unsure about the skirt. If you want is short as it is shown I almost wonder if they add layers on top to make it fuller (on the skirt) and then the lace WOULD be underneath if that would help.....

Hello my Wonderful Canadian Brides, I have a question for everyone, though my OOTs are "technically" done (don't tell FI but I keep wanting to add things!) I just had to ask because we couldn't decided and it is still bothering me. How many individual gatorade packs do you think each person should get? I have been through so many OOT threads trying to count them in the bags LOL We did 2 in each couple bag and 1 in each single bag (they are part of the wedding week survival kits) but I am starting to think maybe 2 per person (so 4 for ocuples 2 for singles) would be better.... what are your thoughts? Is is the idea that is fun or should there be more for those multiple hangover mornings?!

Bridesmaids dresses
torilynnsmith replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
These are very nice, a great silhouette for various figures!!!! Is this your colour too? The dresses were from Dress Barn in the states I believe but if you read back through the thread she mentions where she got them and how much they were, also I do not believe they are convertible the picture you see is the style of the dress. -

Hi Mich, Can you please post a picture of your homesense plastic vase find? I was just there today and didn't see anything but I never even thought to look there! Also what section did you get them in? I am assuming you are talking about the water beads (good for real flowers too!!!) You can find them on ebay, amazon and a google search of "water beads" will give you a TON of results. I believe many florists and even michaels sells it now too but they charge an arm and a leg, ebay you can get them for about $1 a package and that makes quite a lot!!!! Great for travelling as the package weighs next to nothing!!! -
Hi Mich, I designed my own monogram (as did R~) and used this as the current through all my DIY projects particularly my OOT bags. Check out my OOT bags thread to get an idea of what we are talking about as well you can see my templates there! Do you have a monogram yet? R~ designs monograms and has an etsy store so you should definitely check her out if you haven't gotten one yet as this will REALLY help in everything you do! We simply printed ours at home on the same cardstock used for our invites, I used a hole punch and raffia to attach them to the bags. I am going for a chic yet natural vibe so I LOVE raffia, you can also get it in different colours (even purple and silver R!!!!) and it kind of has a nice beachy feel in my opinion. Let me know if you have any other questions hope this helps

I Love love love this idea for the aisle, unfortunately I came across it AFTER I had purchased my aisle decor but I think it is a great way to "define" the aisle without having to bring a ton of STUFF!!!! Also it adds your colour without much work and is VERY simple for your WC or family/friends to set up!!!!! I am not using an aisle runner and I like how this look defined the aisle but still kept true to the BEACH!!!!

Is your dress a replica of another dress or is it an original design so to speak? If it's a replica can you share the picture or the style etc of the dress you had it created after. I HONESTLY do not feel the embroidery is out of place, I think it looks great and gives a really nice line. I think your feeling is coming from the fact that the rest of the dress is very "clean lines" and simple elegance ( I love a simple dress!!!) What about having some of the embroidery done around the neckline? Another suggestion would be a "mermaid" crinnolin (sp? sry!) under the lower part of your skirt to "oomf" it up a bit. I honestly think a big part of the issue is that the bodice of the dress appears quite creased and wrinkled and that is simply because they are still working on it. If you have a picture of your "inspiration" or what you sent them to fashion it after that would help!!!

Great site for wedding favors
torilynnsmith replied to Milly11's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We are doing OOT bags as our gifts for all our guests (1 per couple and 1 for every single) this will be in lieu of traditional wedding favours. I like how you asked what "etiquette" is and I think that is the beauty of a DW as people really don't know (guests) and depending on your style and family/expectations you can do what you are comfortable with. I didn't want favours for a couple reasons (this is just my opinion) 1) I didn't want guests to have to carry something around with them or the night -- originally I planned to use the leather luggage tags we have for everyone as our "place cards" and then they would take them. My fear was that they would get left behind and forgotten so I will be including these in the OOTs now (or sending them with pre-travel brochure) 2) I didn't want something silly, useless or pointless as a favour for my guests and edible is great but I was worried about transport. If you do something pointless you don't care if it gets left behind but can you imagine looking at the tables at the end of the night with 50% of your favours still sitting there.... even if they were only a buck or two that still adds up quick. 3) I figured my guests would not be wondering or looking for favours with the OOT bags. We opted for Bubba Mugs and are considering that the "favour" of the wedding while the rest of the OOT items are an additional gift! Since you are doing OOT bags I would say forego the reception favours. We will be doing fans on the chairs for our ceremony that everyone can take with them so this could be considered the "favour" as well I guess. Our ceremony is at 3PM so I think the fans will be nice and well used! As for seating, we have opted for "assigned seating" or place cards but no seating chart. This means we will have place cards at each seat but no big "frame" or sign when you first walk in. Last summer we were at a wedding that was seat yourself and it was an absolute DISASTER. Imagine tables of 10 having 7 or 9 people sat at them. Our entire "group" ie. my FI, his parents, brother, aunts and uncles were all split up some even sitting ALONE at tables with people they didnt even know. FI and I along with my FBIL squeezed in at the table with the brides aunts and uncles who were from another province. We hadn't even met the bride before and so really it was the most uncomfortable experience of my life!!!!! From that day on I insisted I would have assigned seating. We have chosen place cards vs a seating chart since we will be having 1 LOOOOOOOOOONG table (semi private dinner) I didn't want people to arrive and be split up from their partner or date. This way we can also organize it so that our guests are with other people they know and can converse with. If we were having a "round table" reception I think I would opt for a seating chart and even forego place cards. People could then sit where they wanted at the table BUT this way you were gauranteed your guests were comfortable and with people they knew. I would NOT want to make anyone feel not "appreciated" or uncomfortable after they travelled all this way for my wedding. I hope this helps a little. I know it is a bit of a rant but sometimes I think it is hard to understand different options if you haven't experienced it. Having experienced a free for all seating I would HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest going with some sort of system. You said 15 couples for 7 nights so that is still 30 people, not a huge group but one that I am sure would appreciate being organized nonetheless!!! Best of luck!!!!!! -

February 2012 Brides!!!!!!
torilynnsmith replied to torilynnsmith's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We need to start our thread going more frequently!!!!!!!! My birthday was nice thank you for asking we were away for a family function (FIs side) from Thursday evening to Sunday but it was still nice!!! So an update on our planning process: - Resort and wedding date book: We will be getting Married February 4th 2012 at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana on the beach at 3PM - Dinner Booked: We will be having a "semi-private" dinner (6:30PM) at the MC Steakhouse Restaurant, the semi private is a great way for us to save money as it is a surf and turf meal for the first 60 guests included in our wedding package (YAY!!!) unfortunately if we go over the 60 we pay per person but it is only $10 a head so 70 ppl is only $700... not too bad! I think we will be able to stay under our 60 ppl at this point (my wallet hopes too, as do my completed oots lol) - Reception Booked: We will be having a private reception at the MC "Wet Bar" which is a bar with a nice canopy (if it rains) near the pool area. They will set this up with round tables a cake table, stereo system etc. We will be having our reception from 8:30PM-11PM I am considering either pushing it back 8-11 or forward 9-11 (this is what most brides do) But I think the 2 hours at dinner will be good. This is $500 per hour and includes an open bar for the first 40 ppl and then we pay per head (ohhhhh gotta love the extras) Any opinions on the timing for the reception? - Photographer booked: We will be using the AMAZING Katya Nova http://www.katyanovablog.com for our wedding day and TTD session. We narrowed it down to 4 photographers, HDC, photo souvenir, Katya Nova and Phot phil. I sent the options to FI with no opinion as I wanted to see what he thought. We both picked Katya as our fav but didn't think we could afford her (Oh, PS we had already put a deposit oh Phil but I was not excited about his work at all!) after going back and fourth with Katya she was great to work out a package for us that would suit our budget and our desires and I am so so so so so excited for her and her fiance Rob to shoot our wedding!!!! I love the idea we will have 2 photogs capturing emotions and images at the same time - I have decided to go with the basic ceremony set up but will be bringing 3 ft sheppard hooks and decor to line the aisle with. Have no decided on chair sashes..... -OOT bags are DONE DONE DONE, mind you at the FIs function this weekend we learned we need to make about 10 more bags so I will be heading back to the states to pick everything up!!! I am sure I have more to report but that is all the MAJOR stuff for now!!! How is everyone elses planning going?!
