I am a Majestic Colonial Bride and we chose it for a few different reasons, one of them being the cost effectiveness for our guests. I have heard several ppl say the wedding packages are not great but they cover what we want and need so I think it depends on what you are looking for. My experience with the WC so far has been great, she is always quick to respond so that is a huge plus for me!!! Best of luck and happy planning!

Alright, so I had enough of waiting for my oh so wonderful travel agent to give me further details about this "promo" so I called ACV MYSELF!!!!! I thought this is why we chose her but hey you live and you learn, next time I will probably deal with the carriers MYSELF!!!!!! Here is the information that the ACV rep who was GREAT shared with me For weddings the Bride and Groom are automatically upgraded to executive class once they have TWENTY people booked with their group. Not sure about the special you got luvmoo and Leigh but count your blessings that is AWESOME!!! The upgrade is subject to availability (which makes perfect sense) and MUST be on one of their charter series flights so an 1700, 1800, or 1900 series flight (mine is!!!) I wish I got the same news as you guys with the AUTOMATIC upgrade but hey I will take the 20 people minimum to get the SIX BAGS to punta cana!!!!!!!!!! Now I am off to count my guest list to see where we're at because as some of you may know Fis side of the family decided to have TA open a SEPARATE group rate for them from Ottawa that is NOT with ACV so unfortunately those 20 odd people don't count oh the joys of family and wedding planning!!!!!!! Thanks for all your help ladies, I hope this thread helps some other ACV brides out!

That's nice to hear, I was starting to feel like we were the only ones who WERENT having an AHR and I thought I was doing something wrong!!!! We chose a DW because that's what we wanted our wedding to be, unfortunately not everyone can make it but I didn't think that meant we had to do something for them, if I wanted an at home wedding we would have had one!!!!!

Glad I am not the only one!!!! I had my first mini bridezilla moment the other night at the airport on the way home from my best friends wedding. FI and my flight had been delayed and then all of a sudden I got an email from my FMIL asking (for the 4th time) whether guests can wear shorts to the wedding! I just about lost it!!!! I included on our website a special "dress code" section when she asked me whats appropriate the first time, 2 weeks ago we were visiting and his aunt asked if her partner could wear shorts as he already had them, I said "sure!" (I was just sick of discussing it), I got another email before this one from FMIL asking why I didn't say shorts on the dress code portion of the site and then THIS! I lost it in the airport. I was like NO MORE QUESTIONS LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!! I turned to FI and said "I'm getting MARRIED, we're getting MARRIED!!!!! Do they not realize this? It's on a beach but we are still getting MARRIED and I will still be walking down the aisle in my $1500 designer gown!!!!!!!" Oh I was so frustrated!!! We are not going for a formal look, khakis, capris, linen pants or slacks with short sleeve dress shirts of even polos are JUST FINE! I didn't say shorts because I don't want swim trunks and cargo shorts in my pictures....... ughhh the frustration!!! Anyways that is my little vent and probably the biggest reason my Mojo is MIA as I am just sick of dealing with the questions!!!!!! I either want the wedding to be tomorrow or 4 years off at this point lol

Another great find for some OOT templates and ideas I bought my sewing kits at Michaels (US) for $1 (they have them here in Canada for $1.50) they come with little scissors etc BUT if you were looking to just include a small sewing kit for the idea and SAVE some money there is a great idea on this site!!!! Come cardstock, a few colours of thread, a few needles and buttons and you can DIY your OWN sewing kits for cheap cheap cheap!!!!! Also you can easily personalize these and I think they are PERFECT for what you need for a DW. Wish I had found this before because I TOTALLY would have done this!!!! Hope this helps out some DIY Canadian brides http://ruffledblog.com/welcome-guest-bag-goodies/

Well I have hit wall TWO of wedding planning. This past weekend I was away for my best friends wedding (I was MOH) and I think coming back from her "traditional" wedding has put me totally on HOLD!!! It was run here, run there, do this, do that, organize this, set up that....my entire 5 days were go go go and so so busy, I came home and basically slept for an entire day. It did make me very happy with my DW choice but it has also made me lose interest in any wedding planning. I used to love coming on BDW now I read posts and lose interest. Maybe I just need a break for awhile...... Hopefully like Wall 1 my mojo comes back but at this point I am ready to pack it in and see everyone on the beach in February!

To all those Canadian brides out there flying with ACV can you provide some insight into some promotions, discounts, upgrades you are receiving? I know we were discussing this on the Canadian OOT bag thread but perhaps we can get it going again in its own thread to help out those brides that may not be looking there! We are flying with ACV but have been told nothing of the sort. Our travel agent has basically written us off now that we are booked and can't back out. It was suggested that we contact her supervisor or manager but unfortunately that is not an option as we chose to go with an independent agent (Shine Travel) and she is a 1 man show pretty much. I am really frustrated now and FI is at his breaking point with the whole thing. We chose her because we like supporting small businesses and thought we would get a personal service as well could help her with a great deal of word of mouth. She was fantastic in the beginning but now is absolutely HORID and I feel awful for recommending her to other brides. ANYWAYS! Any insight into the ACV promo. When she FINALLY got back to me she said she thinks 20 people have to be booked for the bride and groom to get the first class (executive class) upgrade. What is everyone else finding?

I think it is very important to do what you want so that being said NO you are not doing anything WRONG! I can only provide my personal opinion and some insight into what we are doing. We have chosen to forgo the AHR, I have absolutely no interest in doing one, everyone is invited to our DW and if they can't make it we just expect their well wishes to be with us. I feel too many people will perceive it as a gift grab (not true as we dont want ANY gifts), or question why we are doing an AHR and not just getting married at home as well. Also FI and I live in a different city from both our families, both families live in different cities from one another and we spent 5 years in another province together where the majority of our close friends are, that being said an AHR would involve travelling anyways! Both our parents may host a small get together at their homes upon our return but we have left that to them and will not be involved in anyway, it will be more a get together than a wedding reception! We have always wanted a DW and that being said those that can come GREAT and those that cant, NO WORRIES!!!! The wedding is about us and what we envision it to be, since our guests that are coming to our DW and paying a substantial amount of money and taking time out of their lives to be with us to celebrate I think it is important to "give back". Let's be honest, our guests likely wouldn't be going to THAT resort, THOSE days and THAT time of year or possibly NOT even going on vacation at all so to us to just have them come to the ceremony and a dinner is not enough for us. We want to host a reception "dance" so that people feel that they are truly involved in our day. It is obviously your and FIs decision as to what you do, but depending on the resort some of these things are INCLUDED and you don't need to worry about dishing out a TON of money! We will be making are wedding day a "big" low key deal but then leaving the remainder of our trip for us and our guests a vacation with no "wedding" activities or commitments allowing them to enjoy their vacation!

I wish my TA was 1) more upfront about all these things and 2) more informed.... she is not very helpful and basically says no before she "looks into it" I feel awful having recommended her early on in our planning process. She was AMAZING in the beginning but it seems like now that we are "locked in" she could careless about keeping us informed or treating us well at all! I think I am going to call ACV directly and get the info I need, I wish we could fire her but that is not an option

We only bought 12 of the 32oz mugs so maybe I will take my receipt back and see about a price adjustment. It makes me feel better to know the tumblers aren't on sale as those are the ones I need more of (hopefully I can find them) annnnnd I would hate to need to price adjust ALL of those!!!! We'll see what happens, not too sure when I'll head over the boarder!

Hi Ladies, Well I am back from Halifax. What a crazy busy wedding filled 5 days it was! My best friends wedding was wonderful but I have to say the traditional "church and reception" wedding experiences only solidified by decision to have a DW (not that there was any going back now!). I cannot even imagine having to deal with some of the things we did and I am so happy to know that I will step off a plane meet with my WC for an hour hand off my stuff and sit back and relax. I have been off the forums for awhile now, checked in once or twice and came across luvmoos post about the ACV free executive class upgrade so that was FANTASTIC also why I love this forum....... I dont think the jute bags will take the iron on transfer, I picked up a few of them as back ups before I found my OOT bags and have been using them to carry my wedding stuff, they have a plastic on the inside and I think they would melt. Also the iron on transfers leave a "shiny" outline around everything if you know what I mean, I don't really love the look so I would recommend doing a bag tag instead of a transfer, that way your guests can remove it and use the bag even after the wedding is over! Plaster your monogram and names on disposable items but those that could be used again stay away from so you know that they can and will be used! Beachbum I can't remember but did you end up going with Pauline from Shine? I am not her biggest fan lately and FI is ready to strangle her....
