Post your centerpieces here
torilynnsmith replied to bethtamar's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Thanks! I will have to check it out and see what I find! I bought my $2 dollarama vases the other day because I was afraid they would sell out and then I'd be kicking myself, I only needed 5 so for $10 if I don't use them for the wedding I am sure I will use them for something else! Thanks for sharing, I love Peonies but havent been able to find a real touch version I liked!!!!! -
The sewing kits were in the front dollar bin section (but not the dollar bin aisle) if that makes any sense! You know all the "baskets" around the cash and such, that's where I found mine! I have the $1 Dollar Tree totes (basically sold out everywhere now) for $1 they were the same if not cheaper than some paper bags and at least they can be re-used and I am not contributing to any Dominican pollution lol. They can leave them for the staff if they like after the weeks over! Dollarama has cute re-usable totes for only $1 or $2. They also have the re-usable "grocery" style bags that if u were thinking of paper I'd suggest those! People could fold them up and throw them in their carry on on the way home incase they need them for anything and then again re-use them!!!! Let us know what you decide!!!!!

Post your bouquet and inspiration pics here
torilynnsmith replied to EDYTA's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
OMG I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this bouquet!!!!!! I would love to hear more about how you made it, cost etc. It is sooooo beautiful and unique I absolutely love it!!! My dress has some feathers on it so this would work so nicely!!!! -
It is on charter flights but ACV themselves told me today that it is 1700, 1800, and 1900 series charter flights (any of those are included subject to availability). I too am flying out of Toronto and I even had them check and my flight is indeed an 1800 charter flight. When are you flying Cole? Oh Also it does not count on connectors, forgot to mention that. So say you are flying from Winnipeg to Toronto and then Toronto to Destination, you will only be flying executive class from Toronto to Destination or the final "leg" or your trip. Not sure how that affects baggage etc. but may be something you want to look into for any of those ACV brides with connectors!!!!!!

Thank you so much everyone! It is so nice to hear other people like them too! I keep wanting to add things but I know I need to STOP! I will be adding our welcome letter and wedding timeline, possibly a thank you note but I don't think much else. Any suggestions as to things anyone sees as missing?! Mari98: You can totally get them done I am just sickeningly ahead of time with mine. I wasn't sure when I would get the opportunity to do it all in one "swoop" and since I was across the boarder I kind of just dove in head first! I hope the list and breakdown helps you out in creating your own!!!! Best of luck

So in an effort to keep our Canadian OOT thread on topic but stills tay in touch with many of my favourite Canadian brides I have created a Canadian Brides!!!!!! Thread where we can keep in touch, keep each other updated and keep one another informed on our finds that are not necessarily OOT related! I hope to see you all in the thread as you have probably been the most significant sources of support during this process so far!!!!!!
-
So I thought it may be a good idea to start a Canadian Brides "Chat Thread" for all my fellow Canadian Brides out there. I know most of us communicate via many other threads specifically Canadian OOT info but since that can get Off Topic quickly, I thought it would be great to give us a spot to come and chat, update one another and share our Canadian finds!!!!! I hope we can get this thread going as I know there are quite a few of us that are VERY active on the forums and many of you have been such a great help to me with your tips and tricks that I just hope we can help newbie Canadian brides and one another over the next few months and longer!!!!!! So cheers to all my Canadian brides and I look forward to "chit chatting" with you all soon!!!!!!

February 2012 Brides!!!!!!
torilynnsmith replied to torilynnsmith's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Welcome to the forum Dawn and congrats on deciding on a DW, if you have always dreamed of getting married on the beach I think you will be VERY happy with your decision, and Maui is so amazingly beautiful! Tomorrow is 6 months a 1 week to the day of our wedding.... I can't believe how quickly it is going now. I really want to try and keep the conversation in our February thread going as Feb will be upon us before we know it!!!!!! I am working on my "Reserved" seating signs for our parents at the ceremony and dinner, I am creating a TO DO list and a DIY TO DO list. I am getting a little BLAH with the whole wedding planning process but I think that is because I have just come back from my best friends wedding and just need a break! Once I get my lists and such completed I will share them all with you!!!!! I am hoping to start my "music" list as we may or may not opt for an ipod wedding reception but I don't want to leave it to the last minute if we do. What is everyone else thinking about for music for the reception? DJ or ipod? How did you decide? I just am having trouble wrapping my head around the $1000+ cost associated with the DJ for 2 hrs...... Still need to choose BM dresses.... what to do what to do!? Anyways hope everyone elses planning is going well!!!!!!! -
OMG I am so so glad to read this!!!! I had my first mini bridezilla moment the other night at the airport on the way home from my best friends wedding. FI and my flight had been delayed and then all of a sudden I got an email from my FMIL asking (for the 4th time) whether guests can wear shorts to the wedding! I just about lost it!!!! I included on our website a special "dress code" section when she asked me whats appropriate the first time, 2 weeks ago we were visiting and his aunt asked if her partner could wear shorts as he already had them, I said "sure!" (I was just sick of discussing it), I got another email before this one from FMIL asking why I didn't say shorts on the dress code portion of the site and then THIS! I lost it in the airport. I was like NO MORE QUESTIONS LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!! I turned to FI and said "I'm getting MARRIED, we're getting MARRIED!!!!! Do they not realize this? It's on a beach but we are still getting MARRIED and I will still be walking down the aisle in my $1500 designer gown!!!!!!!" Oh I was so frustrated!!! We are not going for a formal look, khakis, capris, linen pants or slacks with short sleeve dress shirts of even polos are JUST FINE! I didn't say shorts because I don't want swim trunks and cargo shorts in my pictures....... ughhh the frustration!!! I just don't understand why this is such a big deal to people, DRESS YOURSELVES, you do it everyday, 2 people are getting married and you are travelling a great distance to be a part of the day so GET DRESSED!!!!! I didn't include "shorts" in our dress code because I don't want people wearing shorts!!! I did the same, "Well he can wear what he is comfortable in" line with FIs Aunt (re her partner) and thought that that should cover it (and he'd be the only one in shorts) then to hear it AGAIN from my FMIL like REALLY? She always says "Well people are asking me" I wanna know who these people are because not even that many people have booked!!!!! I thought I had this covered on the website.... apparently the MULTIPLE options we gave people wasn't enough!!!! Ok sorry for the huge rant I was just so excited to see another bride dealing with the same thing!!! OH one last point: If you already bought the shorts why are you even asking?! "Do you expect us to return them" well if you didnt plan on it then DONT ASK!!!!!!!

NO WAY!!!!! Thanks so much, I am going to check them out now they are PERFECT!!!!!! -
The ones they give you at the airport are just little paper ones, Doing a laminated or leather one is a really nice keepsake for everyone. We are doing pain leather ones "His" and "Hers" for all our guests. They can reuse them (unlike the paper ones) and remember our wedding by it. I think it all depends on budget though!

Would love to know where you are getting these!!!! They are so so gorgeous, both yours and the BM shoes! I saw these online and just HAD to get them. I'll probably only wear them for like 20 minutes before changing into flip flops (which I still need to find), but I think they are so cute! And I think I like these for bridesmaids, but in black: They kind of match mine, but are different enough. OOOO would love to know where your sandals (#3) are from!!!! -

Civil Ceremony at home before?
torilynnsmith replied to lindsayraz's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We will be doing a "legal" ceremony at home and having a "symbolic" ceremony in Punta Cana. There is no paperwork involved but we do need to provide the resort with our marriage license (I am assuming this is to avoid any "fake" weddings or abuse of the wedding packages) other than that we have hired a pastor to perform our ceremony so it is more personal and intimate and thats it!!!! Good luck!!!
