You're so sweet!!! Ya the ribbons are navy so I just thought the black and navy didn't really work. Mom wants me to bring them home and re-paint them black to use in her garden after the wedding lol I am sad to say I did not DIY my shell pomanders ALTHOUGH it did start out that way. I saw one of these at a fancy home decor store for $15 or $20 a ball.... took a good look and just KNEW I could make it! Went to dollarama, picked up 2 bags of shells ($1.25 each) and headed to walmart to get my foam ball. Unfortunately dollarama did not have the styrofoam ball large enough (thoguht dollar giant now has 2 large ones for $1 BOO!). Anyways I DIYd 2 but needed a TON of shells so it ended up costing me about $10 a ball as the styrofoam ball at walmart is $4.97 (for the size I wanted. Mom and I were at homesense one days and stumbled across 3 of these in a rope bag for $12.99!!!!! CHEAPER than my DIY project. I attached the ribbon and voila, shell pomanders! The DIY is super easy though Materials - Shells (I like the mini conch style and you will need a good amount) - Styrofoam ball (the shells will only add an inch or so to the diameter so basically get the ball size you want your finished product to be - I had made tissue pomanders and you only need a small styro because the tissue adds so much fullness... not the case with the shells) - hot glue gun - ribbon I attached my ribbon first, them I would poke the shell into the ball, take it out, put some glue in the divet and then put the shell back in!!!! It is so so easy!

Hey! So apparently is anyone calls her her voicemail says she is AWAY until September 6th. I sent her a pretty "snippy" email about this as we have until august 26th and my guests were kind of FREAKING. Anyways in her usual non-chalant attitude she emailed back right away. She has access to email but is not working from her office so no access to voicemail. If they email her their phone number and info she will call them back (hopefully). I have no idea why on her VM she didnt just say to email her but thats typical. I think for our sunwing group it is 26 people for a free trip.... I will have to go back through my emails. That is our Ottawa group while our ACV group is all flying through Toronto.

Something you wish you would have packed?

Great idea with the "sweat preventative" Does it really work to stop you from sweating?! Will it be sticky if you do sweat a little?! I am considering these for my BM dresses... not sure how they will photograph though! -
We have sheppard hooks that we will hang our shell pomanders on Here is a mock up we did in my moms side yard, I think I will spray paint my hooks white instead of the black... what do you think? I am thinking of laying the large homesense starfish along the aisle to create the "border" as we will not be using an aisle runner. Another option that R~ (futuremrsgun - now mrsgun) is doing is she picked up a bunch of shells (you could get them at the dollar store) and she painting a few in her colours, you could do red and turquoise and leave some natural, then she is going to use these to line the aisle. I really like the look because the shells are organic to the beach but by having a few painted it ties in the colours of your wedding without being overpowering. I will see if I can find a picture for inspiration to share with you! Check out factory 21, you can do personalized and they are more inexpesnsive. They are on ebay. The mugs are black or white but at least you would get what you want! The bubbas go on sale at Canadian tire for about $5.99 for the 20 oz, I think that is cheaper than the shop bubba site Welcome! A planning thread is a thread you post just before leaving for your wedding that is made up of mostly pictures and short captions to share your planning process. Check out this thread to get up to speed on the BDW rules and FAQs http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/8853/forum-faqs-etiquette-rules As far as I know in order to secure an early booking bonus (generally $300 or so in savings) they tour operators set a full payment date. This way they can open up other flights as they can be sure that the ones they have full are in fact paid for. We got our rate, had 90 days to put down our $200 deposits (due end of this month) and then full payment is due at the beginning of October while we dont fly until February 2nd. This is pretty standard, we are with ACV. Some of our group is flying with Sunwing and they have until November for full payment. I wouldn't worry too much, we have had some guests say the same and we told them they are more than welcome to book later or last minute. We set an RSVP date of November 4th which would give us 3 month to finalize OOTs, decor, programs, fans, and plans. Quote: Originally Posted by Krysta lee ann the TA says the reason why it is due early is because we are getting an early booking bonus LUCKY!!!! What carried Tammy?! Very nice!!! You should be able to save your Powerpoint file as a jpeg and upload it!!!! I really like the look of the paper lanterns lining the aisle! Also is that your ring?! A-M So I have been meaning to get on here to tell you that last night I took my superstore tumbler to Hot Yoga for 1.5 hours. We do it in a room around 103-105 degress so it is HOT (same as it would be downsouth) and my water stayed ICE cold ALL class!!!!! I did not expect that at all!!!!! So the double insulated tumblers are FANTASTIC!!!!! My only concern would still be the beer thing but you know your guests better than anyone, I just wanted to let you know as I had mentioned I didn't find it kept my drink very cold but I obviously dont realize how long I have it filled for at home because at hot yoga for 1.5 horus it was AWESOME!!!!!! I know!!! I wanted these style of chairs but in white, instead we have the slip covered chairs too.... so much more you can hang off the wooden style!

These are awesome!!!! Great find!!! Can you post a picture of the reverse side or is it the same?! Shout wipes are not available in Canada as far as I know.... I find they are a little pricey on ebay and it isnt even so much the price but the shipping charge basically doubles the cost.... If you have Chance to cross the border you can get them at Target or Walmart for about $3 a box I believe (12 count). The tums rolls can be found at Walmart for sure, not sure about costco, they may not have the roles may only have the larger containers. Glad we could be a help to you! I would be happy to send you the bag topper template for my Wedding Week Survival Kit, just PM your email address.... I haven't been emailing many templates anymore but because Nova Scotia holds a special place in my heart I will for you!!!

Seating chart or just place cards?
torilynnsmith replied to pbrozek's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Our dinner will be at one LOOOOOOOONG table so I am foregoing the seating chart and simply doing place cards, it is one less thing to transport and just as easy! We will be putting our place cards right on the table so there are no awkward moments of couples being split up etc. but if you are doing round tables I would say simply put the table number on their place card and let them pick them up from a seating card table. Even at home weddings are foregoing seating charts lately unless they want assigned seating at their rounds. Good luck! -
I think it is ridiculous they charge so much for petals... I definitely think the fake ones will look just fine! They will also hold up better! My only concern would be any wind blowing them away but that would be the case with real or fake!!!!!

When the small ones were on sale at Canadian Tire they were still $5.99 or so. They are definitely not CHEAP but we are considering this that "favour" for the wedding. We will not be giving out any favour at dinner or the reception the day of the wedding. We also didnt personalize them so saved $$ there AND then people can use them again. Another idea would be just doing a mug from anywhere. Dollarama has plastic ones (they had RED too!!!) for $1.25 so it would be an easy way to save the $$ and then people could leave them when they left since for $1.25 if they use them for 7 days thats a good use LOL We will be needing a suitcase just for our mugs I am pretty sure. I havent started packing everything up because I am too scared to know how many we will need (I am really banking on our ACV executive class upgrade which would allow 3 bags each!) We are doing chair sashes, table runners etc. so that minimizes some of the transport as well. I have been being careful about what we are buying because I don't want to worry about all this stuff either! Part of the reason I have embraced the "white" in our colour scheme as it is standard LOL

haha! Thanks, it is fun to see what everyone else is doing!!!!!! Glad to hear your centrepieces are going to work out!!!! They are HUGE and not exactly a finger starfish look so that was tip #1 and they had a "made in china" sticker on them.... tip #2 LOL I could also tell by how they feel, they are very chalky I find. Everyone's taste is difference but I prefer simplicity and letting the setting do the talking for you. I don't think ALL colours have to be incorporated into every aspect of the wedding. For instance we are doing Navy and Green with a lot of white running through it (more recent addition because I like the weddingy "vibe" it gives off. So the GMs will be wearing navy shirts, the BMs navy dresses and the stems of the calla lillies will be the green accent with them. Most everything else will be white at the ceremony, chair covers, sheppards hooks etc. I think the red rose petals would be a nice accent against the turquoise chair sashes and wouldnt be going overboard!!!

Majestic Elegance
torilynnsmith replied to Nicolee's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
My parents booked a Miami vacation through a site and when they got to the hotel they were very unhappy with the accomidations and wanted to move, because they booked through a site there was nothing the hotel could do and they did not have a contact to reach out to at the site. I suggest using a travel agent, there are many perks associated with it and then you also arent dealing with all your guests questions about travel etc. A good travel agent is invaluable! -
I think recognizes that people come in all shapes and sizes is really important, I understand overseas that they may not be "used" to the size range we know here but "Mutant" and "x-men" generation just seem hurtful! Well said, diets vary so drastically around the world and diet is not always to blame for "weird sizes" sometimes medical issues, metabolism and other factors play a role!! There is nothing WRONG with bread and pasta, and like you said the "healthy stuff" is not exclusive, you can like both! And here I thought my size 10s were HUGE!!! Glad to know I am not alone out there!!! I will have to check it out, I can generally find shoes in my size online but instore that 1 pair of 10s sells out quickly!!! $650 is still a HELL of a lot less than you would have paid in store AND your dress is custom!!!!! Take a deep breath, pour that drink and relax.... you will have a $650 dress you love as opposed to a $300 dress you are self conscious in!!!!! It is your day so you deserve to be happy and just think... it could be worse... you could be ordering a whole NEW dress!!!!

To travel agent or not to travel agent?
torilynnsmith replied to chirorach's topic in Honeymoon Forum
If the tour operator will do the same price I would deal directly with them too, the nice thing about the TA is some bonuses you get ie. Executive class upgrade after 20 people book (ACV - emilyjane check it out if you haven't already heard of it... we have a thread about it too) and Free wedding with 15 rooms book, free trip for every 16 people who book... that kind of thing -
Show us your wedding dress!

There are a TON of TTD threads... check them out for pictures, tips etc. -
I checked with our WC at the Majestic in Punta Cana and they are a NO GO for us unfortunately (and fortunately for our wallets). I think each resort has their own "rules and regulations" and it was not something I wanted to push on though I think they look amazing. I believe other DR brides have mentioned they were allowed but for sure NOT at the Majestic Colonial. Congrats to all those that will be using them!!!!

LOVE THESE!!!!!! Zappos you say?! -
The dollarstore DUH!!! Why didn't I think of that to mock up a trial one too!!! Thanks hun! Thats so strange because the ones I have are fake so I thought it had something to do with that! Airing them out definitely helps... just don't want them to stink up what ever we put them in to travel with!!

After a little BDW hiatus I took some time to catch up on Mrs. Gundy's planning thread!!!!! As always R~ you WOW me!!! I am starting to want to re-do things I have done because they don't coordinate ENOUGH lol Love the bag topper, looks just awesome! Saw these on FB on my phone while I was away and LOVED them!!!!! I may need to steal this template, not sure what I will use it for as I think I may forego the program but I just love the "pocketfold" type look to it!!! You are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Then you go and outdo yourself by creating your VERY OWN pillow boxes..... I can't keep up!!!! You are so inspiring!!!!!

I removed it from the Advil, and the Pepto, even though our pepto is just in blister packs. I then put my pepto sheets in craft zipper bags and created a "topper" with the instructions. Everything is in the "Wedding Week Survival Kit" - also removed it from the chapsticks to put on the labels (obviously). My only suggestion which I forgot with my pepto is to put the expiry date somewhere on there. My advil, tums, gatorade etc all have it on the individual package (internal) but the pepto does not!!!! Just a thought. Here are some pictures to show you what I mean! I think the pepto looks great like this, they are protected and everything for insutrctions and dosage are on teh reverse of the topper here is the topper I created I LOVE the plastic tumblers, I picked one up at Superstore for my morning smoothies the other day but here is what I have found. Even though they are double insulated they don't keep my drink cold for as long as I would expect. They basically work the same as the starbucks style disposable cup they are modelled after. We considered doing these but opted for Bubba Mugs and I will tell you why. - the bubba mugs keep drinks cold for 12 hours and hot for 8 hours, not that ANYONE should need this but there is nothing worse than a watery pina colada. Also we are canadian so they can use them for their coffee in the winter (hot) and their beer in the summer at the cottage (cold) - They can be used for beer or mixed drinks as well as blended and thicker drinks. I don't know many people who will drink their beer from the straw and therefore with the double walled insulated cups would need to take the lid off to make use of it. This isnt a bad thing as it will be bigger than the cups at the resort but what do they do with the lib and straw... carry it with them? Leave is in their room? With the travel mug they can simply stick the straw through the drink hole if they choose or use it as they regularly would I think either way is a good route as those small little cups are useless and by the time u get to your chair your drink is warm or melted, but those are my pro-cons for the tumblers versus a travel mug style. I don't think many of our guests would think to bring it but I know they will be happy to have it! The bartenders just rinse them out and they can have any new drink they want, it is not like they are stuck with beer if they started with beer etc. I am sure even your FI will appreciate having a larger cup for his drink as opposed to the 5oz shooter cups you get. Head to Canadian Tire and get him a 54oz bubba lol he will only need 1 refill a day! Ahhhh love that you got the sea shell soap from dollarama... it is so perfect!!!! Thanks for the tip, I love the battery operated tea lights they are the best!!!!! And that is a great price for them! Mug Tag-Pepto Bag Topper-Survival Kit Bag Topper-Welcome Tags.pptx
