In my opinion I would do no sash. I am not a fan of sashes so maybe I am just being biased but also I think you should embrace your original vision of the alternating dresses. The two colours compliment one another and dont need anything extra to tie them together. As for the ties, I would alternate them to match the bridesmaid they are 1) walking with or 2) lined up with when standing. To be honest though, if you are looking for a casual vibe and having them roll up their sleeves I would forego the ties all together. A nice option would be to do bouts in the 2 colours of the girls dresses and alternate them as you would have the ties?! That way the guys are rocking a little bit of the colours as well

Haha!!!!!!! I know the feeling, I always felt bad for whoever was behind me but my cashiers were both sooo great when I cashed out! I am thinking I didn't buy enough even with my second round but if I have extras I will totally let you know! The deal is waaaay too good to pass up and your guests are going to love them!!!! Those mugs here in Canada cost upwards of $15 so it is a GREAT favour!!!! -
Post your bouquet and inspiration pics here

Stuffing the inside is a really smart thing, it helps absorb any bumps they may experience in transport. I would suggest carrying them on if you can, we are still unsure what we will do! -
I thought it was so great, the bridal party was in complete shock. He is a great guy and they are very much in love but that was totally out of character (at least of what I know of him over the last 5 years) so I was just so touched. When he made his speech he started to choke up and I have NEVER seen him upset!

Ya, purple is one of the colours Bubba is doing right now (purple, grey-blue, chocolate brown, black) but the Walmart colours are exclusive to walmart. Check out Marshalls and TJ Maxx in the states in the Men's Gift section (near the socks and underwear where they have all the ipod type stuff) I picked up a HUGE purple one there for like $6 or $7. You could always get one for you, that's what I did! -
Show off your shoes....

I would try the heal liners that add some cushion and also stop your heels from coming out. My sister has really narrow feet and often has this problem but she finds those things work great! You can get clear gel ones now that would work great! -

My best friend got married in July and her dad passed away when she was 9, she too was somewhat dreading that portion of the day and they were just going to bypass the motherson/father daughter dance to make things easier. Her FI planned an AMAZING surprise that had about the whole room in tears. He made a speech (very out of character for him) about her dad and how he wishes he would have had the opportunity to meet him but he knows how much he loved his girls (she has one sister) and gave a nod to her dad. He then invited her and her mom to share a first dance and he and her family and his each took a rose and encircled them. At the end of the dance she went around and took a rose from each person, creating a bouquet sent to her from her dad. It also symbolized the joining of two families and the support behind her. I hope my description makes sense and gives it justice, it was such a nice idea! So, that being said I love your idea of having a "tribute" to your dad and think you plan is the perfect way to do it!

I just wanted to post a "retraction" so to speak regarding Pauline Blacoe and Shine Travel. I have expressed some frustration with this process on these forums and truthfully it is not the right venue for it. Once something is out there it is out there for good and there is no taking it back (especially in the world of BDW). Though their have been some bumps along the way, the problems I have experienced have ultimately come down to a lack of communication and a lack of defining expectations on both our parts. That being said, I would like to apologize for the implication my posts implied. We chose Pauline because of the amazing "customer service" we experienced when we first started corresponding with her, I use quotations on customer service as I honestly did not feel like a customer but rather one of Pauline's friends. She was warm, inviting and so quick to answer every email I sent her that I knew she was the right fit for us. I was excited to support an independent business woman and was touched by Pauline's passion for her business and her proactive approach. After speaking with Pauline regarding some of our concerns I am confident that she will make every effort to meet and exceed what we expect and the responsibility is both of ours to maintain open communication channels and an informed dialogue. I am confident that going forward in this Destination Wedding planning process with Pauline will be a positive experience and that she will prove to meet both our expectations and our guests expectations should we encounter any difficulties along the way in February. I feel that I can recommend Pauline to any destination wedding bride looking for a seasoned Travel Agent who has "been there, done that" Pauline Blacoe Shine Travel [email protected]

Post your centerpieces here
torilynnsmith replied to bethtamar's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Another option is to check out the outdoor dishware that is on sale everywhere now. They wouldn't be vases but a lot of the larger glasses work great as vases. I picked up some at Target for $0.48 on Friday. I have decided not to use them as I am doing something different for my centrepieces now but they would be perfect for bouquets or another floral arrangement. The nice thing about this stuff is it is all plastic!!!! -
There are a couple threads started on this for the entire forum but not just for us Canadians lol, thats what this thread is for! First Dance - undecided but we are likely using "Then - Brad Paisley" of "Love You This Big - Scotty McCreery" Father Daughter - "I loved her first - Heartland" Mother Son - "20 Years Late - Aaron Lines" Quote: Originally Posted by luvmoo Hey, I dont know if there is a posting on this yet or not.. but What is everyone doing for the first dance and the Father/Daughter, Son/Mother dance? what songs are you using for them is what i mean... Great finds!!! That advil is cheaper than dollarama!!! LOL Just a point to all the brides putting meds in their OOTs, one of my nurse friends informed me that Tylenol mixed with alcohol can cause liver failure. She said you are save with Advil but Tylenol can cause serious problems. Just thought I would let you know. I am an advil user but for those tylenol people this is something I would want to make my guests aware of as I know there will be some alcohol consumption on our trip lol

We talked about these awhile back, may have been in the Canadian Brides thread as another Canadian bride opted to get hers from Superstore, one thing we mentioned was that most of the guys wont use these, I know my FI refuses to use the one I picked up for him and my dad laughed at me when I gave him one (I use mine for yoga all the time). They both said they don't make sense for anyone who is having a drink that they dont use a straw with, ie BEER! Just thought I would let you know before you order because I loved these cups but when they said that it made perfect sense! I was thinking of adding these to the single guys bags!

Thanks Janet, I went on a huge Dollarama adventure today in search of more of my shells, I found 2 more tubes of the ones I was looking for and bought 3 tubes of a similar style incase I can't find any of the others!!! I think I need 1-2 more tubes STILL to complete my "project". For what it cost me in gas I probably should have just ordered them online. I was so spoiled living in Mississauga as there are a million of every store or if there isn't they aren't far! Here in peterborough I am a little more limited and it is quite the venture to the next city with a dollarama!!!! FI thought I was nuts!

haha, working on my centrepieces. Unfortunately I hate to say I will not be sharing anything until either closer to the wedding or after the fact as my google experience has opened my eyes!!!! Sorry I am off on a mini road trip tomorrow to try and hunt down more shells lol
-
I did find 2 tubes of tiny ones today back home in Ptbo... unfortunately the 6 I visited in mississauga didnt have ANY!!! I probably need 2-4 more tubes... I hope my mom or sister can hunt some down lol LOVE dress number 2, good choice!!!!
-
We probably were there at the same time!!! I didn't even remember to hit the camping section, I was in such a rush!!!! I just went down the aisle with all the outdoor dishes etc where they had a million!!!! Too funny!!!! If we had the same cashier she probably though what is wrong with all these crazy canadian buying out the bubba mugs!
-
That seems crazy that you would need to get NEW birth certificates when you get home and leave yournoriginal in another country...... This makes me suspicious
-
I know exactly what you mean! It is very easy to get caught up and go overboard with the OOTs Check out Walmart, thy have insulated bubba kegs in sale right now, the 18oz is only $3, $4 for the 34oz and $5 for the 52oz! These are amazing deals. You could do the 34 or 52 oz mug with. Few little things tucked into it and it would be more than enough. I would suggest the mug and maybe a key card holder or something since you can make these pretty inexpensively! If I were to do my OOTs over I would do just our mugs and our wedding week survival kits but the kits were likely the our most expensive item as this meds and such add up! At least by doing the mugs you are giving the guests a "favor" that they can use while away and take home for use there as opposed to spending the same amount on something that will either get tossed or never used! Good luck
-
Tracey when were u in Buffalo? I was there Friday and the walmart right near galleria had lots of 34 And 52 oz ones but not many 18 oz ones. I had to pick up 12 more as we have had more ppl book then expected!! This is the location I first bought them at for 4.97 small and 6.27 med back in June. We went to the walmart on transit road and they said they never even got them in! If anyone else is crossing the border, I cleAred them out of their last 7 18 oz mugs but there were many 34oz and for only $4 you cannot beat it! I am excited you got them Tracey, what a hero you are going to look like to your guests! FYI- marshals, tj max also had the bubba mugs, not as cheap as walmart but cheaper than Canada and they have the same co ours CT is currently carrying while walmarts are exclusive to them

Thanks ladies, I am looking for small (less than 1") conch style white shells, I can cleared out the dollar stores in the close proximity to both myself and my moms of the other style of shell I needed. I am sure I will have to order online but wasn't sure if there was a Canadian website. Thanks for the site janette, unfortunately they dont have what I am looking for
