  1. ahhh blonde moment!!!! Didn't realize this was in a "blog" thread!!! So so so so so SORRY!!!! Blog away!!!! i am excited to keep checking in on it!!!!
  2. AMAZING!!!! Love that story!!!! I am assuming Adam stuck him in your suitcase for the Egypt trip?!
  3. Congrats on the new addition to the family, that is very exciting news!! Do you mind sharing your "stem" info? I have been making flowers like a mad person but am unsure of what to use for stems and how you go about attaching them! Thanks
  4. Everything looks great, I can't get over how far ahead of the game you are... I think if I started and had so much done that far in advance I would be re-doing everything closer to!!!!! Congrats on getting so much accomplished!! Just wanted to let you know that "blogging" on BDW is not permitted and planning threads are supposed to be done a month or two in advance and a review of everything you have done/chosen for your wedding in pictures and short captions. Just wanted to let you know as I know other brides have run into trouble for this and some have gotten temporarily or permanently banned from BDW for not following the "rules", I know I am not alone when I say I would hate to miss out seeing all of your great finds! I will try and post the link to share with you that describes some of the Planning thread rules!
  5. I bet the people at michaels never expected to have regulars! lol I wanted to do signature cocktails too but wasn't sure what the resort offered... did you email the coordinator or just knew?! I couldn't read the menu perfectly on here (it was a long day staring at a computer screen lol) but I LOVE the look of it!!! As always, thanks for being an inspiration!!!!
  6. The steakhouse dinner is a surf and turf menu as well. Lobster and steak or Pasta for vegetarians. It is an open air restaurant but they bring curtains down to "contain" it in the evening. I don't believe it is hot, obviously not air conditioned because it is all open but I like the idea of it being "outside" but "inside" at the same time!!! I believe you are only able to have a reserved group dinner at one of the a la cartes if you have your wedding at the resort and either don't do the included dinner or opt for a private reception. You are technically paying for this is your wedding package cost when you get married at the resort so I assume that's why. We also wanted to book something like this but because we are doing the "semi private" dinner sandra said they can reserve a section at the buffet. Another bride told me they really liked this option as they put their group in a private room and then people we able to eat whatever they liked at the buffet has so many options The $300 fee is non negotiable, it is their way to put some pressure to use the resort photographer I believe. Phil Steingard doesn't pay because he is there all the time photographing weddings and I believe he has likely worked something out with the resort so that the majority of their brides will go with him. We also didn't want to use phil and chose Katya Nova. She will be doing our wedding day photography, as well as a TTD the next day. We will be walking down the beach closer to where her and her fiance live to do the TTD as we do not want to pay the $300 (+ $90 for her fiance who works with her) TWICE! It is pretty silly, but you may want to look into going to a more public beach to get your photos to avoid the cost! I can't believe it's 5 months off!!! We may be staying until the 11th now as originally we were supposed to be leaving the 9th!
  7. I saw them at the bargain shop about a week ago... I think 2 for $7 maybe 2 for $6?!
  8. It may be nice for you to do a joint father daughter dance but have you dance with your FIs dad and he dance with your mom. A nice way to represent the joining of two families and remembering those loved ones you've lost!
  9. I will be bringing my own, I found organza sashes on ebay for under $0.60 a piece and FREE shipping!
  10. I love embracing the space!!! I just decided this awhile ago so that I could keep my original setting!!! I am happy to know lots of brides are embracing the gap!!!!
  11. Wanted to share the Badgley Mischka's I am eyeing that are very similar to the RSVP shoes above, they may have the colour you are looking for in this version. I am looking for a navy blue and so leaning towards these http://www.zappos.com/badgley-mischka-lacie-navy-satin They come in Navy, pewter, pink, platinum, seafoam and white
  12. They come in sapphire blue, red, purple, gold and silver. The name is RSVP - Taran Here is the link for them on Zappos http://www.zappos.com/rsvp-taran-sapphire-blue
  13. Alright, this post made me OBSESSED with Fabric flowers, thinking I may try a bouquet option as well, what did you use as "stems" for the flowers and how did you attach them?! hopefully you're still on BDW!!!
  14. From the ones I posted awhile back? Ya, I may still use those for the dinner but I don't think so, I have opted to do centrepieces at both our dinner and reception (2 different locations) and so I want to create some sort of consistency between those 2 venues and our ceremony (on the beach, ie. 3rd venue) I am just finishing the DIY parts of the new centrepieces!!!!!! Same vases though!
  15. Was just at super store (Loblaws) doing groceries and I popped by the Joe Fresh section (love their stuff) and all the flip flops (mens and ladies - sorry didnt look at kids) were on sale for $1.94!!!!! If you are planning on including these in your OOTs, doing a flip flop basket at the reception, or just needed some for you and FI for your trip I would suggest heading over to take a look. I picked up 3 navy pairs for my BMs to put in their OOT bags, they can wear these at the reception or through the week but for $2 it is a nice CHEAP addition and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Joe flip flops, they are the only rubbery flip flops I wear because they are SO comfy!!! Also, all their summer stuff is on sale, if you are looking for things for when you go away check that out too. FI loves their golf shorts and pants, we got him another pair of shorts for $6.94!!!! You can't beat that!!! These shorts are so nice too because they are dressier looking, so he can wear them to dinners and things while we are away! They come in Navy, Grey, Black and Beige!
  16. We booked Katya Nova and are thrilled with our decision! They have just finished launching a brand new website which is absolutely amazing and speaks to Katya and her work perfectly. Katya and Rob (her fiance) will be moving to the Dominican in October and therefore NO TRAVEL FEES! They also work alongside one another as a (soon to be) husband and wife team. I love the idea that we will have 2 photographers capturing our big day giving us twice the angles, twice the reactions and twice the images. Something really important to me was capturing FIs reaction when he first sees me and my reaction when I first walk down the aisle and I know having Katya and Rob there we will be sure to get this. I found a lot of the other photographers in the DR very basic, though they captured some nice images I was looking for more of an editorial/documentary style of photography, I find some images to "posed" and not natural looking and it was just not what we were looking for. If you are looking for a wedding photographer with a unique style to capture your day I highly recommend checking out Katya Nova, she has been a pleasure to work with and even worked with us to create a personalized package to suit our needs and budget. Photography is not cheap, I learned this quickly in my research but to me it was SO important, it will be the only thing we have to remember our day and I wanting to make sure when I look back on these images I have no regrets! www.katyanova.com www.katyanovablog.com
  17. We have 60 booked as of today and we will be giving them all a Bubba Mug. We are packing 1-2 suitcases with them and the OOT bags themselves. They are not very heavy but can be rather bulky depending on the size you choose. We plan to use our HUGE suitcases for these as weight wont be an issue! Another thing is you can pack smaller items in the mug to reduce space as well. We chose the 18oz mugs for the majority of our guests so they will be easier to pack, the 34oz mugs we will be giving to our bridal party, parents and close friends. We are bringing everything with us, we have a baggage allowance of 6 bags between my fiance and I as we received a first class upgrade with our travel package so this is a huge help. Our resort does not allow shipments ahead of time as they simply do not have a place to store everything as do many people have destination weddings now.
  18. I can order 2 colours, we had a few more ppl book yesterday and are up to 60 wiht some friends and family waiting to do a more "last minute" thing. I am thinking I will need 70 to be safe, are you still interested?
  19. You could always pick up a few different white dresses and then just pick up coral (or your colour) ribbon or fabric and wrap it around how you wish. Then the colour is removable but you still get the pop you're looking for!
  20. You may as well as its almost 2 or 1!!!!! The 34oz ones (the perfect size for down south in my opinion) is on for $4!!!!!! I am sure you can find a few of those!!! When I was in buffalo hunting some walmarts never even received them this year so dont be discouraged if you dont find them at first, doesn't hurt to ask someone either another good idea is to check the outdoor dishes section (thats where I found mine), the travel mug section AND the camping section!!!! No one checks the camping section and another bride mentioned she found a secret stash there!!! Good luck, let us know how it goes!!!!!
