  1. I did "wedding week survival kits" but I am including them in our OOT bags. Each kit contains -shout wipes -pepto chewables -advil 10 ct tubes hand sanitizer -mini altoids -lip balm SPF -nail polish remover wipes -gatorade singles -sewing kit -extra safety pins -hair elastics -nail file I think that is it. We will be include them in our OOT bags. They are the "guts" of the OOT bag for sure but I just prefer the look of it all packaged in a ziiploc with a bag topper. I am giving my OOTs out at our destination. I think it will have more of an impact on our guests and will really kick the vacation off right. R~ said handing them out before worked really well for her so if you like that go for it I would do one way or another though as I think if you were to give out something 6 weeks before and still have something upon arrival it jsut wouldnt have the same impact I would think you would still need the same amount of items as if you were going to create the OOT bag and I would be nervous people would either over-indulge or not go for it at all as they may not understand the concept? I dont know I am so set on giving them out at the resort that I am probably not a good "opinion" i just think that the impact of receiving a bag of goodies when you arrive for SOMEONE ELSES wedding is just so cool! You really feel special and appreciated. I feel that impact would be forgotten once they get to the destination if you were to do it before.
  2. WOW! I LOVE these. I have seen program fans before but these are by far the nicest I have seen!!!! I have to ask what font your names are in on the back of your programs? These are so so nice. Something I crossed off my DIY list that now I want to add back on!!!! If you really dont care I would say check out ebay or kijiji and pick up a used one for nothing. Another option is Costco has them often for a little bit less than elsewhere and walmart and just about anywhere sells them now. Just get a small one if you aren't planning to be a big ipod user (I dont have one anymore, FI has his... I just dont use it the same as I used to) and then you'll save yourself some money!!
  3. Coquine - your posts sounds like you are telling MY story! We had these exact same experiences and I am wondering if was the same travel agent... Are you loosing all your deposits (guests included) in order to change travel agents?
  4. WOW... I don't know if I could take the stress of this. Luckily you are far enough out that you can make the changes and your guests will (hopefully) be ok with it! Sounds PERFECT!!!! Also checked out your engagement pics and they look great!!!!! Good choice. Search the "underwater trash the dress" pics on this forum they are AMAZING and will be so cool that you get some of those done!
  5. WOW! I didn;t even notice that the R~ signature wasnt you!!!!! I rarely looking at the username and just assumed... how strange is that?! Keep up the amazing work!!!! I can't believe HOW SOON it is to your big day!!!! Panning thread planning thread can't wait (after the wedding of course!)
  6. The only thing that made we sort of wish we were getting married here!!!! How fun would it be to do a four weddings episode!! I would jsut love seeing other peoples visions come to life!!! Alright, so I took a look at his website and here is my two cents. You have to look past an "amateur-ish" website and focus on the images, his photos and editing seem AWESOME. Yes, some pictures are more posed but you never know, maybe that bride wanted that look. You can see he has an eye for details and I am sure if you shared your "inspiration picture file" (I am sure I am not the only one who has other photography images saved to show my photog what I like) he will totally get your style and be willing to work with it. What did you think of your engagement pictures? Would $1500 be for a week vacation? He will be paying for his wife but is she also a photographer/assistant? Would you then be getting 2 photogs for the price of one? If this is for a week will he be photographing all week long? Maybe you can negotiate he do a rehearsal or welcome dinner as well as a few hours here and there during the trip of the group outside of the wedding day. I personally think this is the largest benefit of bringing a photographer with you, you can get images from the ENTIRE week of you and your guests which make for great memories for everyone. This may not be the case but definitely something I would be discussing with him. $1500 is a great price for an aspiring photographer who has the right vision. Everyone has to start somewhere and you could be the lucky bride to get in on the ground floor. A friend of mine is getting married next summer and she just booked her photographer, an aspiring part-time photographer who has done a ton of shoots here and there but due to a full-time job does not have the time to market herself the same way a FT photog would. They did an engagement shoot to see what they thought before booking. She had over 400 images for them to choose from on a website that they could download print etc from. They were ALL edited and FANTASTIC! For their engagement session it was $200 all in! She is able to work within their wedding budget and they know they will have SO many images to choose from and they like her style. This is just a great example of finding someone who is GREAT and their prices have yet to be inflated. Take advantage of it if you can as long as you are comfortable with their work! I am kicking myself for not booking our friends photog (she is actually a friend of mine's sister) based on the fact she didnt have a lot of work to look at. We are very excited about our photographer but due to her experience and body of work we are paying the price for it. Go with your gut, but my opinion is his work looks great! (maybe a little more than 2 cents...oops!)
  7. I am in Toronto and trips are still coming up for our dates.... let me know where you are located and what your dates are and I will see what I can find!
  8. I am getting married in February as well. I am going to check now and will let you know what I find. What is your date?
  9. It is a popular one but every time I see it I see EXACTLY why! It is such a stunning dress and it looks amazing on you!!! I find every time I see it on a real bride I LOVE it but on the model it is just so so!!!! Great choice, congrats!!!!
  10. So Pucca stole the words right out of the mouth!!!! I just ADORE this "non-traditional" ring!!! It is so amazing and looks GREAT with your E-ring! BUT if you are really concerned about the matching of the sapphires, maybe you can get it done in only diamonds and that way you get the "non-traditional" ring (that looks amazing on its own btw) as well as a "traditional" aspect with it being just diamonds. That being said, I do not think the lack of a perfect match REALLY matters, I think it looks great as is but just a suggestion!
  11. I really like the 2nd blue candleholder, the fuller bloom of the two. I don't think alternating the turquoise and the green would look messy as they are your two colours and quite complimentary. Did you consider bringing fake flowers and just doing maybe 3 of the arrangements from your inspiration picture and then the candle holders everywhere else? I think that would look nice as you would still get some height and fullness but the candles would act as nice filler and colour as well as bringing it all together! Hope this helps
  12. I love these kate spades, I have been admiring them for months now but they are more of a cobalt and I need navy!!! I LOVE coloured shoes with a wedding dress so I saw go with the kate spades for both as they are so fun and stunning as well they can be your something blue!!!!
  13. Oriental trading has hibiscus flower totes in a variety of colours for less than $10.50 for 12. They are reusable grocery bag style though so quite thin but if that is what you are looking for they would be perfect. http://www.orientaltrading.com/large-hibiscus-tote-bags-a2-34_737-12-1.fltr?Ntt=hibiscus+tote They have another size that is a little smaller but I think theyd likely be too small!
  14. For my boarding pass jackets we used a thinner weight as I found the cardstock too heavy for a jacket (weight wise for canada post this worked better for us) so the glue stick worked perfectly. For cardstock I would check out dollarama and pick up their roll on adhesive. It looks like roll on white out (pretty sure it is in the craft row) and it works SO well. For my best friends wedding in july we used this for all her projects, programs, favours etc. and it was all with cardstock. Also $1 is MUCH cheaper than what you will be charged at michaels or elsewhere! Good luck
  15. I love these!!!! Was looking at them the other night and they have made the short list lol
  16. We did our OOT michaels shopping in the US and it frustrates me so much that the $1 items are $1 there and $1.50 here... especially with the state of the dollar right now! Wake up michaels, time to even the playing field!!
  17. I say forget her and don't waste anymore of your energy dwelling on her and her husbands obvious lack of maturity and their ability to be good friends. I would not be helping to have any deposit refunded but that's just me. Go on with your life and your special day, everyone who matters will be there and you are better off without having a stressor there! You are getting married in less than 2 months! Focus on you, and FI and YOUR big day, you don't need such drama!
  18. Have you checked out the facebook group "majestic colonial brides" the hors d'oeuvres menu is uploaded as a picture there!
  19. WOW! I am shocked to hear this! This is the first time I have heard ANYTHING negative about Pastor York. I am sorry to hear you had such a bad experience and on your wedding day no less. I was under the impression that pastor york booked only 1 wedding a day but I could be wrong. I will have to go back to my emails to see if we have confirmed our time as I don't believe we had that when I booked!
  20. Phil (photophil steingard) has mentioned this on the majestic colonial brides facebook group. I would suggest bringing a portable ipod dock or something and Phil gave the impression that it is no problem! I probably wouldn't mention it to the WC since theyd probably want to charge for something LOL j/k you may want to find out if there are any evening weddings that may be taking place at the gazebo on your day, otherwise I expect you would be good to go!
