  1. Like many of you, I'm not a fan of being in the spotlight. Dancing with everyone starring at me is not high on my list. I'd rather just put on some fun music and have everyone get on the dance floor. No spotlight. But, my FMI is insisting on having a mother/son dance.
  2. I hadn't even thought about food allergies! My FH is deathly allergic to mushrooms and stubbornly hasn't bothered to get a new epi pin (in YEARS). Guess I'll be adding that to the wedding to-do list. I can't help answer your questions but thank you so much for bringing this up!!
  3. Your man is totally bling bling! My FH is looking at bands with diamonds on them too. When we tell people about the rings he's looking at they look at us weird. Guys can rock diamonds too! I just want him to like it enough to wear it - ALL THE TIME.
  4. Ack, I didn't even think about this. I think my dress will be fairly easy to manage... Will just have to be careful I don't dunk any of it. Ew.
  5. Have you tried emailing the photographer? She might remember or put you in touch with the bride. I found the original post on photogs blog - http://amandasuanne.com/blog/2009/04/chenoa-and-josh-married/ I do agree with JayKay, they look fairly easy to replicate if you find dresses you like a seamstress could easily add you colors.
  6. Like Lindy I've been using Connoisseurs precious cleaner. I got it at Rite Aid but have seen elsewhere. It's usually near nail polish remover section. So far its been working great. It's super easy! Clean in 60 seconds. Comes with a little brush if you want to do a little deeper cleaning. http://www.drugstore.com/connoisseurs-jewelry-cleaner-precious/qxp257257
  7. I'm getting married at PPR so experience at MC isn't totally applicable but still curious to find out how this goes if anyone tries to stream their wedding (live or upload after). If wifi wasn't available on beach, I was looking at Ustream as an option from a droid or iphone assuming mobile reception was good (quality might be so-so though).
  8. I can't believe some of these girls. So rude and presumptuous! I'm so sorry ladies! I've had some friends assume they were invited to my "small destination wedding" and I found that hard to deal with.
  9. @passionsarcasm Love those photos, thanks for posting! I'm totally adding them to my "inspiration" folder. Right now I'm thinking of pulling some inspiration from the water - so shades of blue and aqua with sand as a nice neutral. Still working this out but will share pics as I figure it out more.
  10. Absolutely gorgeous! Perfect dress for a destination wedding. Congratulations Colleen!!
  11. I've already found a couple items that would be perfect for me. Let us know how the order turns out!
  12. I like the first one too -- suit and tie. He could take off the jacket and look like picture #2 for reception if it's warm, right?
  13. I agree -- wear what you love and bring a lighter cocktail dress or slinky little number to change in to! When else will you have an opportunity to wear a ballgown??
  14. When I started shopping I decided I wanted to keep it under 2k. I found a couple dresses that I liked well under budget but unfortunately didn't get that 'this is my dress' feeling. Then I found my dress - 2100 w/ 10% at Kleinfelds complete with 'this is definitely my dress' feeling. I wish i had spent less but oh well -- I've never spent anywhere near this on a dress and will never do it again!
  15. I have the feeling I'll still be here even after the wedding..
  16. We picked two weekends as options first, then looked for resorts. We narrowed down to a handful of resorts and picked one of the resorts that had a day available that we wanted. We wanted to pick a weekend that worked for a lot of our close family members so that to us was first priority over the resort.
  17. All of these amazing dresses make me want to go out and find a second dress.... and a third... and a fourth...!
  18. About a month and a half after getting engaged, I noticed a rash on my ring finger. The ring is platinum but I have sensitive skin (eczema sometimes) so I wasn't totally surprised just totally bummed out. I've stopped wearing it in the shower and try not to put it on while my hand is still wet. I've even tried not wearing it for awhile. Rash eventually returns. I'm going to make an appointment with my dermatologist to see if there's anything they can do. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?
