  1. Thanks JayKay!! I got a few invites actually -- you girls are the BEST! Happy to pay it forward if anyone needs an invite, PM or post your email. I've already started making a wedding board ... http://pinterest.com/heavenone/destination-wedding/
  2. I hadn't even thought about getting a reception dress! These are all so cute!
  3. I absolutely love this idea. I've been searching for something that would make our ceremony unique -- this might just be it. Thanks!!
  4. This is what we sent to the resort for our centerpieces. Going with white cala lillies though like the 2nd pic.
  5. Great site!! I've spent the last hour digging through all the goodies.
  6. Juuuust kidding! The jewelry arrived, it's a no go. I really liked the idea of bringing in color with my jewelry but oh well. I tried them on at my dress fitting at Kleinfelds (where they tape Say Yes To The Dress) and they were definitely too much. Luckily they have a good jewelry section at KF so I was able to try on jewelry with my dress. Vera picked these ones out for me (below). They're totally different than what I thought I wanted but she was right- they were perfect for the dress, they compliment my ring and they didn't distract people from looking at me. She says she's always right.
  7. Congrats!!! Turks and Caicos is beautiful.
  8. I've booked La Barcaza for a welcome sail thanks to all the great reviews on here! Does anyone have any reviews on their appetizers? We're getting the mixed grill dinner plus some special appetizers (lobster, shrimp cocktail, tempura squid). I wanted to know what other people have gotten any of their regular app packages or something special. FMIL is concerned about not having a non-seafood appetizer option but she didn't really like the options in their appetizer packages (sigh).
  9. Im going through some similar stuff with our closest of friends. Fiance feels like he has no one coming for him. I feel guilty becuase i pushed for a caribbean wedding versus something a bit closer to home. After spending the last week upset about his friends and my BFF who's MIA, my voice of reason sister brought me back. She had a small (second) wedding with only close friends and fam. Ten years later, only a few of those friends are even a part of her life. With all the stress of planning we lose sight of what it really should be about - you and him. That's it.
  10. I agree with the informal cocktails. I kinda wish I was doing that instead! If you do still want to plan an event for your group, you could do an excursion on Saturday or champagne brunch any day.
  11. I second Lucy! I just bought a few pairs of cute sandals on Victoriassecret.com.
  12. I'm on the Pinterest waiting list. So sad.
  13. I'm biased obviously since I'm getting married there but the Paradisus Palma Real is next door to the Melia Caribe (they're owned by same company btw) so it wouldn't be too far out of your way.
  14. Absolutely gorgeous dress! Perfect for a spanish wedding. Congrats!!
  15. I've known about pinterest but honestly never even thought about using it for wedding stuff. Such a good idea! It would have been so helpful months ago! Oh well, never too late...
  16. Thanks! We ordered both the custom postage stamp, vintage beach stamp and return address label from Zazzle.com I bought all the envelopes (A7 envelope, gold liner and petal envelopes) at the same paper store so I knew they'd match and be the right size. I used a double sided glue tape (similar to this: http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/item/Sticky-Tape-Runner/2903.016/496889.html) to glue the gold liners in to the envelopes. Super easy, just a little time consuming. I can't take credit for the postcard -- that was all my fiance -- he and a coworker designed them in photoshop and got them printed at a local print shop. (I bet Vistaprint would have been way cheaper than that place, oh well!). I think they borrowed a stamp brush from here: http://www.psd-dude.com/tutorials/resources/stamp-brushes-for-photoshop.aspx and then added the heart and date.
  17. I ordered a pair of earrings that I saw in Destination Weddings mag right after I got engaged. They were stuck in my mind so I finally just pulled the trigger. Hopefully they'll arrive in time for next dress fitting so I can see everything together. I also got the matching bracelet and plan to wear a necklace that my FI gave me on our first trip together (he says i never wear the jewelry he buys me!) - I just hope it's not too much!
  18. I wanted to share these since looking at everything everyone else has shared on here has inspired me so much. My FI was originally inspired by the STD vintage post cards. Since we did an email STD we decided to incorporate that idea in to our actual invitations. We created a custom postage stamp on Zazzle.com using one of our engagement photos. I hand wrote all the invites using a gold pen. We put a gold insert in our envelopes (it had a little shimmer that doesn't really appear in the pic). The postcard is in a petal fold envelope and sealed with a vintage beach sticker. [back of the postcard] We decided not to do an RSVP card and asked everyone to RSVP on our website (everyone did except one person who stuck a stamp on the postcard and mailed it back to us, LOL).
