  1. That wood "dance" floor is always there. it's a little deck like thing that's actually quite a big size if you didn't want to rent. I'll see if I can post of picture of our first dance to show it.
  2. Thank-you. It's nice to know that I am not the only one. I had an amazing time as well, I think with the one friend saying something to me kind of put me down about it and now I am questioning everything. I think if I could go back and change anything, I would of picked a smaller resort but that's about it. Just talking it out on here and seeing your responses is showing me there is nothing else I could of done. I did spend time with a lot of people and spread myself thin so I could, so I shouldn't be feeling as guilty as I could. Ughh.. you know how it is though. Just overstimulated. I think if we would of had only a week with guests I would of felt differently but we had guests for two weeks mixed in with mother in law drama. I think I just need to relax really.
  3. Thanks ladies - just feeling a bit down about it. I am such a people pleaser and I feel bad about a lot of things and probably dwell on things way more than the average person. I always wonder if there was something I could of done differently or changed but honestly, when I look back at it is, there wasn't. We told everyone each day where we were going to be if people wanted to see us (stayed at the same part of the beach everyday) so when it comes down to it, we did try. It's just hard when a friend tells you how disappointed she was when you tried everything in your power to make everyone happy. Oh well. Talking to my mom about it this morning shed some light on it - like you said, it's not our job to keep everyone entertained, if it was a wedding at home, most people would understand. I'm reading a book called the four agreements right now and once of the best quotes in it is "often people's reactions to things have nothing to do with you" so I'm trying to keep that in mind. I think I will feel better about once I have had more "hermit" time. Still feeling way too overstimulated and overwhelmed. Happy though If I can offer any advice, as bad as this sounds, focus on yourselves but you two ladies seem like you know that. Being a people pleaser has left me with feelings of inadequacy here when they shouldn't. Oh well. At the end of the day I married the love of my life and I just have to keep the focus on that.
  4. ... Who had their destination wedding feel like they were completely overwhelmed and over stimulated by the end of it? I had a fantastic time, don't get me wrong but part of me feels like I disappointed people by not being able to duplicate myself into 50 different people. I already have had one friend complain that I didn't spend enough time with her - no one else has said anything but I am feeling terrible. We stayed at a mega resort which was maybe part of the problem? I felt like I tried and tried to visit with everyone but in the end, I just couldn't do it.. Ugh.. anyone else go through this?
  5. I did, however they ended up giving us the wrong one so make sure you get the one you ordered! We ended up getting the acrylic one when we paid for the crystal one, so if you do go ahead with ordering it from them, make sure you make sure LOL. Definitely on a high and a relief that all the wedding and stress is over. I'm happy to be home though, enjoying the quiet and we missed our dog a lot Can't think of anything right now but seriously, PM me if you have any questions!
  6. Thank you! You are very sweet waiting on edited photos. We literally just got back Wednesday and my sister in law (she is a professional photographer) just got back last night. I will definitely have some to share within a month or so and will give you the link and/or send when I have them. However, if you are on facebook, look up Blue Venado Weddings on there, as they have quite a few photos! Did not notice any bugs or anything there, not even at our resort either - I was concerned about this because I heard it was a bad year for mosquitos but didn't get bit once. Entire ground is sand, our guests loved it. You don't have to rent a dance floor as they have a little area where you can dance at the back of the palapa, we just wanted a big dance floor area for our guests. Washrooms were good - I know there were some complaints with the men's washrooms as the sewage wasn't working properly but that could be on some of the guests. You're not supposed to flush down toilet paper and I think some people were doing so. This would be the only complaint really but honestly, I am sure they will figure it out before your wedding.
  7. Joyce you will have to speak with personally but she was reasonable I got a planner as myself personally, I cannot handle all the vendors from up here in Canada. Joyce has a personal relationship with quite a few of them down there and can negotiate prices for you and ensure everything goes to plan. She made the wedding planner very seamless and that is saying a lot from someone who is a neurotic, Type A personality She has done quite a few weddings at BV as well and has a extremely good relationship with Sofia and everyone there. Honestly, with the décor, you don't need too much. I didn't go overboard and was so happy I didn't as the venue itself is so gorgeous. Blue Venado has options for décor and different packages, as well as you can go outside vendors like Arte Velas (candle and lighting company) or flowers. We stayed at the Bahia principe Akumal, which was a 25 minute drive away from the venue. We used Rutas Hispanics to transport our guests there. We got ready at the resort and then headed over to the Blue Venado
  8. Del Sol has AMAZING work! I would of used them if my sister in law was not a professional photographer herself. Thumbs up to them As far as Blue Venado goes, there were an absolute dream to work with from the very beginning, very accommodating and willing to work within our vision to create our day. Daymar (before she had her baby) was great with returning emails and coordinating with my wedding coordinator of Dream Weddings, Joyce. We used Blue Venado for everything except for the late night snack and they were wonderful with letting us bring in pizza from PDC for our guests. Food is AMAZING. Our guests still can't get over how amazing the food was. I can't either. Obviously I am at work and I will try to write more later - but if you have any specific questions, please feel free to PM me OH and to answer your vendor questions: Hair/Make up - MVP Makeup & Artistry DJ - Party Planet Productions Decorations - Arte Velas, Party Planet Productions, Blue Venado and I brought my own Photography - Capture it Photography & Playa Loves Me Photography Videographer - my friends husband.
  9. No worries, can do. there wasn't much information when I was planning my wedding at all, so one of my goals on here is to try and add that to this website and get more information out, as they are absolutely amazing there and deserve more recognition and their name out there Hopefully you talk to Sofia, she is one of the coordinators there and is fantastic!
  10. Hi! I just got married here last week. I have an extremely busy day (first day back at work as I just got back last night) but wanted to let you know that when I have time tonight, I'll respond to this
  11. Hey ladies! Though I'd share a pic or two... Second one is from the back of my sister in laws camera but you get the idea
  12. It is but we also limited the cost of our OOT bags and what we were filling in them plus we opted out of favors. So it worked out
  13. I've never met my travel agent as she is in la sale, Ontario but she is fantastic. I'm apart of the "Bahia Lover's" group on facebook and she was highly recommended on there and I have had no regrets using her as she is extremely knowledgeable on the resort we are staying at and has great rapport with the people there
  14. There is a tipping thread on here, I'll try to find it - it really helped me with tipping!
  15. I did bubba's but I cut elsewhere. If you are interested in bubba's, go to their main website (shopbubba.com) as you can get them for way cheaper and if you order quite a few, they have a bulk discount That's what I did and it saved me quite a bit of money!
  16. Hi ladies! Hope you are all doing well. can't believe I am leaving in 6 days already!! Quick question and sorry if it's been asked on here before - does anyone know if the Bahia spa offers shellac nail polish? I wanted to get my nails done before we leave however the time between when I get them done and wedding is a week and they will most definitely grow out! I don't really want acrylic nails.
