I found it a lot easier than it would of been. Mine isn't super fancy like other's but it's still nice. -
DIY Wedding Dress Hanger Tutorial

I bought mine from the dollar store but I imagine that other places such as Walmart or any of the home stores may have better quality ones.. just depends on how much you want to spend. -

That is such a wonderful idea, I think I will be doing that for sure! With those kind of prices, why wouldn't you? Thanks for the idea! -
Any Other Simple Decor Brides Out There?
Mrsktobe replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Thanks ladies! I worry, my biggest thing is I compare myself to some of the planning threads on here and I feel like I am not doing enough or going over the top on some things. However, I remind myself that everyone is different and value different things.. Just hard sometimes. Ughhhh... -
Any Other Simple Decor Brides Out There?
Mrsktobe replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
You and are similar brides then! We are spending the money on food, DJ, alcohol of course. It's not that we are being super cheap or can't afford it, I just can't justify spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on some things that I will only use for one day. A lot of the décor I am bringing down I am making sure it can be used again, such as lanterns and battery powered tea lights If it can have a dual purpose, then I am super happy. -
Hi Ladies! Happy Wednesday I just wanted to see if there was any other ladies on here who are having a simple wedding in terms of decoration and such? I keep looking through the forum here and seeing such wonderful ideas from other ladies so I feel like maybe I should do more? I know every bride is different and it's just not me to spend tons of money on décor. Don't get me wrong, I am bringing down things for the tables and for the card table and lighting (Getting married at a beach club) and it's not going to look empty, I just am not spending the money on flowers or candles or for our ceremony décor like other women are... Not that anything is wrong with spending money on those things though! Anyone else similar? LOL It would make me feel better!

Help Losing Weight
Mrsktobe replied to Pablou's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I just eat clean and found that really helped the six weeks before we left to Mexico. I ended up taking 12 pounds off of the 40 I gained last year from going on my self proclaimed "fat parade". I watched my carbs but just ate clean and most definitely that helped. Too bad we went to Mexico which made me go off the rails from my diet and now I am just maintaining lol. You can do it though ladies! Perhaps we can all check in with each other and keep each other accountable? -
Another comment, you have such great ideas - love the lanterns. I am using some of those pier 1 one's as well. You really went above and beyond for your wedding, it's going to look amazing!

We aren't getting married at another hotel but at a beach club outside of playa del Carmen. We love the Bahia Principe (this will be our 4th time there, 7th time at a Bahia resort however we wanted to get married somewhere where we could make it our own and party late into the night. However I believe guests do have to pay for day passes.
-
Does anyone know if you can book ahead with the salon for hair/makeup to be done? We are staying at the Bahia but I am getting married off the resort and I am wanting to get my hair done at the resort and some ladies might want their makeup done as well. I was unsure if they would still come to the room then or if we would have to go to the spa. So many decisions and things to figure out lol! I just don't want to risk my FI seeing me lol!

So excited for the other brides! Lydia, exciting that you booked the venue. Daymar is great to work with. How many people are you having again? I think she recommended Party Planet, that's who she recommended for us and we are using them for some décor and the DJ. P.S - The FI veto'd the mariachi band at this point as we most likely will have closer to 85 coming, not 55 like we originally thought. Crazy how that creeps yp on you. We are going to revisit it come August when the RSVP's come in and if they are still available, we will book them if it's within budget.. What are you guys doing for centerpieces? I am now trying to figure out what to do... I was going to do lanterns but the weight of them in my luggage plus the OOT bags is too much. I was thinking babies breath in spray painted gold mason jars?

Any Other Calgary 2014 Brides?
Mrsktobe replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
So nice to see other brides from the area! Lhills, I haven't been to any either! And there is no point in my going to ones at the end of September since I will be getting married a month and a bit later LOL! -
Great idea! or make them into Christmas tree ornaments to hang on your tree every year You could even get something with the date of your wedding on it and add it to them! That would be cute! That's what I was thinking but some women I have talked to have ALL their planning done and I'm like whoaaaaah, should I be more ahead than I am? But you are right 7 months is plenty of time. I just know the summer is going get busy quick and before you know it, months will have flown by. The last month did that's for sure!

Thanks Gerte016. We do have a wedding coordinator and I know she is going to arrange it for us, I was just curious to see what the other brides had did in regards to passenger vans, etc. I know we are wanting to have the party go til 1:00 am, however we want to have some of the bans coming every hour starting at 11 to pick people up with the last rounding up the drunks around 1:00 or so. 100$ is pretty good, I will have to see what our quote ends up being. Joyce has been super wonderful and I know she will be helpful with finding the best transportation for us, just was curious to see what other brides have done. Talking to some people on these boards and wedding bee, I feel like I am not doing enough! LOL We have 7 months to go. I have kind of started on my ))T bags but have to wail till we make a trip to the states to get the rest of the stuff. I feel like I may be forgetting things but my wedding planner app says I am on track.. who knows. I just want to get things out of the way and completed and move on to the next one.. call it the OCD planner in me!! How is everyone's else planning going?
-
Brownsugarbride, I know Joyce and I will get to this eventually but for your transportation, how much is it costing you and how many vans are you getting? I'm just curious to what transportation looks like. The FI and I were initially wanting a coach bus but from what I understand, it's a dirt road and the bus won't be able to make it down the road. A month to go for you now, I am SO excited for you!

Check our www.herecomesthesun11.com (our wedding website) and I have a drop down menu thing for things to do. If you venture to Akumal, you NEED to check out Lucy's kitchen/turtle bay bakery for the BEST ice cream you've ever had. La Buena Vida in Akumal is pretty amazing as well, excellent food and a view of half moon bay. Akumal would be a day trip for you guys to do but it is sooo worth it. (check out the things to do for my write up on it, I won't repost it here) What else.. Playa del Carmen, 5th ave is awesome, tons of good resteraunts. We go to senor frogs just because it's right on the beach and the food is good, however we have ate a few other places on the ave there and they are pretty good. Tulum beach is awesome, the ruins.. I love Mexico

Thank you so much for the reply, it is much appreciated We are having our ceremony time close to sunset as well, and it will be a full-ish moon at that point, which I am looking forward to as it will provide a lot of natural light. Your food choices sound amazing! I am going to share this with the FI tonight - I know we were considering the shrimp bisque for our starter but for everything else, we are still trying to figure it out. Everyone on here who has got married there has raved about the pasta, so I think that is going to have to be one of our choices lol! We are doing the sit down dinner, so a little different but I am sure we will figure it out. LOVE the lights you picked out. We are bringing down quite a bit of stuff already, so we were talking about going to Walmart/Costco in PDC and seeing what we could find as far as lighting goes. However, I am picking up those starry lights to put around, as well having remote control led candles (they have them at Costco in august when they bring all the Christmas stuff in) it's good to see that the lights you brought provided enough light! We also have the white fabric for the roof of the palapa, which I am sure will look amazing If you don't mind me asking another question, how did you arrange transportation and how far away were you from the venue? Our guests are staying at the GBP complex, so I know it's quite the hike (20 mins or so). Also, how long was your reception till? We are debating having ours till 1:00, having the DJ end then and then rounding up the drunks in that last hour we have the venue LOL. lydiasusie, I'm still trying to figure out transportation however for 10-15 people my guess is you could just arrange a private transfer there and back, perhaps the other ladies on this thread have some of the names. That or just take a few cabs and then call for cabs, unsure of what would be more cost effective.
