Any Other Calgary 2014 Brides?

When are you getting married Sara? Welcome -
Hey Diy's
Mrsktobe replied to TheBHolders's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I ended up creating some on vista print, waiting for a sale to come around and then I ordered a whole bunch. That way they do the printing and cutting. if you order them when a sale is going on, you can get them for much cheaper than you would making them (business cards that is) -
I got them off of Etsy from a vendor by the name of Davet Designs. I would attach my copy but I know you can't see it until you have the post count. Anyway, I found her pretty reasonable for the stickers we needed. If you go to her etsy shop, it is the WR126 that says " Feet in the sand, drink in my hand" (I would copy the link but I can't figure out how to copy or paste on here) She can change the coloring too but in this instance, those are our wedding colors so it worked out We also made thank-you tags off of etsy that we are going to attach with ribbon to the handle I will have to post a picture of everything once I get to my PO box at the end of the month to pick this all up!

Hello! My fiancé and I are getting married this November at the Blue Venado beach club south of playa del Carmen. While we have a wedding photographer, she is my sister in law and we want her enjoying the wedding and not worrying about getting photos all the time, even though I know she will take them anyway I was wondering if anyone will be down in the Mayan at this time and if they were interested in possibly second shooting. I wouldn't need for the whole day, just for the afternoon and the night. Thank you in advance friends

I'm only giving my opinion on this as I want you to see another side and I'm only playing devil's advocate here.... ... asking people to spend all that money and come for YOUR wedding to your destination and then telling them they can't bring their kids is pretty selfish. I could see if it was a one day thing or a weekend thing but asking parents not to bring their kids is a little harsh. I get that you are telling them ahead of time so they can find adequate babysitting but you can't expect everyone is going to want to leave their kids at home OR find babysitting. And then threatening your MOH that if she brings her kids you won't talk to her again? That's harsh I totally get that you don't like to have kids around, I love kids and I get annoyed sometimes on vacation by parents not watching their kids or disciplining them enough - so I understand where you are coming from that you would like an adults only wedding. I get it. But you have to think of the people you are inviting as well. I have my heart set on a lot of things but when it comes down to it, it is your day HOWEVER, you asking people to shell out tons of money to come to your wedding, so it would be nice for you to try and accommodate them. Did you have your heart set on a resort? I would honestly choose a resort that has the adults option & family option available. There are resorts where there is an adults pool or even an adults portion and family portion, so everyone wins. If you chose a resort, I wouldn't get angry if your friends with kids stayed elsewhere. Just an outsider's opinion, please don't shoot the messenger. I just thought you should see it from a different perspective.

Thanks for all that info! I have my eyes on the 20 oz one's on the bubba website, should they not go on sale prior to our wedding - we have 50 people and will need approx. 40-50 bubba kegs, so we would definitely be over the 200$ spend.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for them? I am picking up some in place of OOT bags and I am attaching a note that says thank-you and a little message to everyone. We plan to hands these out to people as we greet them at the lobby when they arrive at the resort. For ours, I ordered waterproof stickers that said "Feet in the Sand, Drink in my hand" and then said our names and the date in the middle.

I know, same here. We had it listed on our wedding website and everything that you could go between resorts and what not, so some people (very few) booked over at Tulum and now there is a small possibility they won't be able to come to Akumal. The guest services manager told my TA that he is willing to work with us if it's a small amount, so I have been dissuading people from booking elsewhere now and have updated the website - more fun stuff to worry about! Yay! LOL. So the changeover is official, as you probably can't see on the attachment and I can't figure out how to copy and paste. There has been rumblings for the past 2 months but the official notice went out to the TA's yesterday. Akumal will be rebranded Luxury Don Pablo Collection but NOT adults only.. for now. So kids are still allowed. They are doing a soft renovation of about 150 or so of their suites to bring them up to Don Pablo Luxury standards. I believe they will be updating all of them but the 150 will be updated a little more so. The luxury changeover will mean that it will include unlimited a la cartes, premium liquor, turn down service etc. The same as Sian Kian really. If you are in Akumal, that is meaning you can go to any of the resorts, including Sian Kian now. We are waiting to hear back regarding the buffets and resteraunts at the other hotels as on the email AND on the website, it says you cannot use the Hacienda complex, which is public for EVERYONE. So I believe it was in error and me being the neurotic person I am, I already FB'd air transat and emailed them letting them know. Jfarrowable, That's exciting! We are headed down November 5th to 19th, with guests coming in on the 6th, 8th and 9th for 10 and 7 day durations. We have about 50 people as well, all staying in Akumal. We aren't getting married at the resort though, we are getting married off site at a beach club
-
Thanks for posting that jfarrowable, I was going to do so when I had the official information from my travel agent, which I received yesterday. I have attached what I had received from my travel agent to this thread. It's looking like they are going to be enforcing it strongly, so people cannot go to Akumal if they are at Coba or Tulum and vice versa. I am working with my travel agent, who is working with the resort as we had a few people who booked the other resorts before we were aware of this. it's worth a try. I have quite a bit of information on the change over if anyone is interested as my TA is close to quite a bit of employees at the resort and is getting information first hand Does anyone know how to copy and paste on here? it is not working for me. Jfarrowable, when are you getting married at the Bahia? It may of been me or BTOPPINGS that took all the rooms in Akumal! Sorry! lol November 1st - Akumal.docx

Alberta bride staying at Grand Bahia Akumal but getting married at Blue Venado Beach Club 11-11-2014
-
Sure is! I would check with her as she sent me the price list over but it's more reasonable than I thought Hopefully the fiancé sees no issues with it, you know how men can get sometimes LOL
-
I ended up getting it from my wedding coordinator and it was extremely reasonable! Just have to double check with the fiancé tonight but I think we will end up doing a churro cart
-
Hi ladies! I am debating doing a food cart for a midnight snack for our guests but cannot seem to find much information on them. Has anyone had a churro cart or a taco cart or something similar? And what the cost would be?

Did Anyone Use Air Transat For Their Flights?
Mrsktobe replied to kellymiller's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
I concur on everything said above however the transat flight we were on in February did have a closet for the dress, the super nice flight attendants took care of one of the brides dress for her when I was on... So it's a toss up really. I also hate Air Canada. -
Did Anyone Use Air Transat For Their Flights?

We have flown air transat the past few holidays after flying westjet and air canada previously, I love them! They are great to deal with and they truly try to make the flying experience pleasant. -
Hi Ladies, Quick question for those of you who frequent the Akumal portion of the resort - Does anyone know a good location to have a rehearsal get together? I know when we were there last, they had white loungers outside of the main lobby for sitting - not sure if there would be enough for 45-50 people. Has anyone else had a rehearsal get together at Akumal?

How much is your wedding costing you?
Mrsktobe replied to BeautifulBridetoBe's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We were hoping to keep it around 12,000 but it's more like 15,000 to 18,000 now. The canadian dollar SUCKS right now so that adds on an extra 100-200 on the deposits we already have to make. We have been trying to cut corners where we can but it gets expensive that's for sure. -
Edmonton Bride- Need Travel Agent
Mrsktobe replied to angelajackson's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
If Lorraine at Mayfield travel is around still (she was off on personal time due to a family illness) she is AMAZING. Seriously. hands down wonderful lady. She might be back, she just wasn't when we tried to book a few months back. if not check out the ladies at Bridges travel in Camrose, they are really wonderful and give you the attention you need & deserve!
