  1. This exact reason was why we ended up picking an off resort venue to get married at. We wanted to stay at a particular resort but did not like the times the reception ended. As well, they had new rules at our resort (Bahia Principe) where the bars at the Hacienda (where the disco is) closed at 11:00, whereas they used to stay open till 2:00. The disco is opened til 2:00 but you cannot bring drinks out of the disco and drink on the patio, where most of the over 50 crowd who doesn't like loud, bass music would hang out. And used to when we had visited on previous visits. For this very reason, we ended up choosing a beach club and our party is going to 1:00 am
  2. We booked with 9 months to go and it was 1700 PP from Edmonton (the trip itself was 1298.. taxes were 400, YIKES!) However, there were quite a few weddings booked when we booked and the plane was running out of seats so there you go. The fiancé and I ended up getting two weeks for two people for 4198.00 but with every 12th person free, our trip will end up costing us 2800 for two weeks for two people
  3. No worries, everyone is different, you don't know till you ask right! I am going to email my contacts at the resort for you and see if I can get you an answer as far as wedding packages go! Update - Just emailed them, will let you know when I get a response. I know how stressful this part can be so If I can help alleviate any stress, then I am happy
  4. I know even the Coba was pricing high for us when we looked (1650 pp for November). Grand Sirenis is a really nice resort from what I have heard, as well as the Grand Sunset Princess, my sister in law loved that one but some people shy away from it as there was an explosion there many years back. You can take a look at the Riu tequila as well, or Barcelo tropical. Another lovely one is Sandos Carocoal but that might be priced a bit high for you. We decided to get married off the resort as we didn't like the limitations and wanted to keep the costs down for guests but still wanted a personalized wedding - have you thought about that?
  5. What is your budget and are you looking to have a sit down dinner or what not? Let me know then I can suggest some places.. my sister in law is a destination wedding photographer and has stayed at tons of the resorts down there, plus we are pretty seasoned in traveling their ourselves!
  6. Here are ours we got them off of etsy and I am SO happy with them, she did an amazing job! Sad we can't bring our little pig dog Maggie to Mexico with us but at least this way she will kind of be a part of it!
  7. They are really good quality! I got the same ones but in navy and mint
  8. I believe you are able to use the sites but I would check. Also, you can get info from the resort, they will email you back with information, no problem. On the official bahia thread, email Poloma or one of the other ladies, they usually get back to you within a few days. Hope it works out for you, we LOVE Coba and have stayed there 3 times, switched over to Akumal for our wedding and for a change this time.
  9. People staying at Akumal can use the facilities at Tulum and Coba and as far as I know, Sian Kian as well. Details are still coming through and I am sure little things will be finalized as it gets closer to to the change over date but if you stay at Akumal, you have access to ALL resorts. Like you said, if you stay at tulum or Coba, you won't be allowed on Akumal but can go to tulum/Coba and vice versa. I would email the wedding coordinators first and check. They are in the wedding business here and I am sure things such as wedding locations and such on other resorts they would allow, I can't seem them turning away weddings honestly. The coordinators emails are at the beginning of this thread. P.s there are a few of us on here who are getting married RIGHT after the change over so we can update you lovely ladies on the happenings. My soon to be husband sleeps in on the mornings and I read the news on my ipad with coffee on the balcony, so it's nothing for me to come on here and briefly write what's going on.
  10. We have been pricing them out at Canadian tire (they have only gone down to 7.99 this year sadly) but if you order a larger quantity from the official bubba site, you get a discount. We live outside of Calgary and they have a shipping facility in Sweetgrass, Montana, so with the 5.99 shipping they offer to the united states, we are golden. Even with driving to pick them up 2.5 hours and paying duty, we still come out on top. For those of you who live in the states or close to the border, it is worth a try!
  11. You're wedding is a month before mine so you will have to let me know how you make out. But with how wonderful they are and all the fantastic reviews, You are in good hands!
  12. I'm not sure if they are familiar but a lot of brides on here have spoke volumes about MVP Makeup and Artistry I booked them and am SO unbelievably excited to have Melissa do my makeup. They have been nothing short of wonderful with their communication. I would check them out!
  13. Pack of 50. A few ladies on here gave me the idea to create petal fans and passport welcome books, so I picked up a bunch just thought I'd share!
  14. Just wanted to share my wedding hangers that I just finished today. I still have to glue the bow on the top to the hanger and I maaaay get a charm to put on, we will see when it gets closer as I am still 4 months out I know they may not be as fancy as some of the ones on etsy but I can't justify spending that much when I am pretty crafty myself Thanks to all the ladies on here who completed these before me, you gave me the idea!
  15. www.montanashippingoutlet.com You have to register with them first (which is painless and easy) and then you can send stuff there. They have an address that you can use (either a PO box or street address - I included both on all my packages) to send stuff there. They will notify you when your package gets there by email but sometimes they are back logged, so I just phoned. For all 5 of my packages, I paid around 15.00 dollars. Sure beats crappy Canadian shipping prices it's right in sweetgrass, which is the little town as soon as you cross the border. if you make a trip of it it is SO worth it as beer is insanely cheap. 24 pack for 20.00 bucks versus 40.00 here. Even if you went over or had to pay duty on it, you still come out on top. It's the hard liquor that you get slammed for. Anyway - thought I'd mention that incase your fiancé is a beer drinker like mine. I'm all for supporting the Canadian economy but hell, we are paying for a wedding - cheaper beer all the way!
  16. I ordered 2.5. They look awesome. I would take a picture but I am at work. Very good quality. 3 should be more than good enough, I went back and forth between 2.5 and 3 but decided on 2.5. Yeah Canadian tire has then and if you sign up for the sale alert (you have to create an account online) they will email you when they go on sale. They go like hot cakes though, so if you end up doing them, make sure you have your people all in line to get them when they go on sale! We debated doing tumblers - but then decided to cut down on the "fillings" for the welcome bags and do bubba kegs and sunglasses. We are still filling them but filling the bubba keg instead with playing cards, nail files etc. We also are omitting favors at the actual wedding for the most part because we are spending about 10 pp for the bubba kegs and such, so we are picking up beer and that will be peoples seating chart The border is not too too bad, you could make a day trip out of it if you have the time. I used to live in Beaumont and it would take me 5.5 hours to the border. But if you make a trip out of it like I said, it could be worth it to bring stuff back. I have found it incredibly cheaper to ship stuff to the Montana shipping facility and pick it up. (usually 3 dollars a package). When I go get the bubba kegs, I am not even staying overnight as the duty on the bubba's will only be 20-30 dollars versus 150.00 for them to ship to Canada. Even with gas I am still up it's called Montana shipping outlet (the one in sweetgrass) if you are interested!
  17. I love the stickers, I ended up getting the exactly same one's! I just picked them up from the shipping facility across the border here in Southern Alberta. Defintiely saving on a lot money. I thought I saw on here someone was mentioning bubba kegs. We are doing bubba kegs for our guests and while you can sign up for the email alerts with Canadian tire, they aren't always on sale for the lowest price they have been (5.95) You can order them directly from the bubba website and if you order over a certain amount, you get 10-15% off plus 4.99 shipping to anywhere in the states (which I'm just having them ship it to sweetgrass) Worth a try if anyone is interested! We are putting the stickers on our bubba kegs and doing personalized sunglasses in place of an OOT bag.
  18. Thought I'd start a new thread here as the other seems to have died down. How is everyone's planning going? My plan is to keep adding to this thread and editing, so other women have information on this beach club.
  19. We're doing it in 7, and that's with 50+ coming, so it's definitely doable for you! Good luck and happy planning!
