  1. We had 8 children (all under 5) in our group and we didn't have to pay for them.
  2. I requested my times for ceremony and dinner and luckily they fit in fine so Jazmin accepted them. Ceremony 2pm Tulum Gazebo Dinner 6-8pm Gran Tortuga (did speeches here too) Private poolside reception (8-11pm) I was a little worried about the time between the ceremony and dinner being too long but i didnt want to eat too early as i wanted the dinner to flow into the reception. We arranged to meet our guests in the Bar Akumal (in Tulum section) for drinks after our photographs. We were in there for a few hours but it was really nice. It gave us time to take it all in, mingle with all of our guests (which we did not have as much chance to do at dinner & reception as I was dancing all night) and of course spend time together with my new husband (which I recommend). Anyway the time flew by and we were soon off for our dinner so these timings suited us great.
  3. I got in touch with my WC ages before my wedding...as soon as it was booked. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I wouldn't bombard them with loads of one question emails. I tended to send one email with lots of questions in. I sometimes had to wait a few weeks for a response (purely because they are so busy doing weddings every day) but she would always get back to me with the info requested.
  4. I stayed in Tulum section and was torn between akumal hammocks and tulum gazebo. I asked for availability dates for each and was told I could get married at either.
  5. Arrr we got married on the 19th November this year...just got back. This site will give you all the information you need and prompt you to think about things you never would have realised (if you are anything like me).
  6. They did not charge us. Jazmin (our WC) did say that if there was too much to do then you may need to nominate people to help out but her and her assistant did everything we asked them.
  7. Hi All, Got back yesterday from a fabulous 2 weeks in GBP. After having quite a few worries, our wedding day was absolutely perfect. Loved every second. I promise to write a review when I don't feel so jetlagged and will get a few piccies up for people to see. But just rest assured that the resort is fantastic and you are in good hands for your wedding (we had Jazmin and her assistant Carla at Tulum section). There are so many weddings at this resort that you can see why they are so good at what they do. Fantastic holiday and the wedding I always wished for...I really didn't want to come home.
  8. I got married in the Gazebo and the wind was not too bad but got a bit tousled up during the photos on the beach and have a few flyaways on the photos. Most days during our holiday were windy when on any part of the beach. Glad I went with an up do and no veil.
  9. I did a similar thing. Set things up before hand, took photographs and took them with me. Then explained everything to Jazmin at our meeting (second day in resort) showing her the photographs and everything was set up perfectly. If there is too much for her and her assistant Carla to do (if Jazmin is your WC), they will ask for you to send someone to help them. My mum popped over to the restaurant to check that everything was laid out OK and it was. I used my favours as centrepieces. I had little buckets containing chocolates that looked like pebbles on a tray covered in sand and small shells to go along with the beach-side wedding.
  10. So after nearly 18 months of trawling through posts on this site and checking almost daily for updates it is finally my turn. We fly out of the UK on Tuesday morning (13th) and get married on the 19th at the Tulum Gazebo. Thank you so much to all of the past and future brides for all of the advice and information especially Tlseege. This thread and Tlseege's thread especially dedicated to GBP are truely invaluable for GBP brides. I have never struggled to get a response from Jazmin (my WC) and she has been very helpful already but I really feel that I would still be mostly in the dark about what is going on if it was not for these threads. So thank you everyone. I will post a review when we are back in December. Kelly xx
  11. Oh no what a shame. We are having our dinner here in November and I would feel the same as you. I hope things get sorted for you. I am sure it will all be lovely anyway.
  12. Thanks for the info. You can get mains chargers that plug into the long socket on ebay so I am going to buy one of those and then it can be plugged into the speakers and charge at the same time. Hopefully this will work.
  13. Does the resort speaker plug into the long flat socket or into the headphones jack?
  14. I have also been heard on here to try it in an older CD player to check it plays OK.
  15. What a bummer. I thought all speaker docks charged the ipod whilst they were plugged in. Better get a back up plan because 45 mins of music is no good for our 3 hour reception. Thanks for the info.
  16. How are or how have brides transported their dress? I am travelling from the UK with Thomas Cook and they pretty much tell you that your dress should be put in the hold and the case will be marked with 'fragile' and 'wedding' but I feel a bit uncomfortable about waving goodbye to my dress at check in. The TC hang luggage dimensions are 50cm x 40cm x 20cm but I am finding it difficult to find something of this size without it being so small it will not fit my dress in. The only thing I have found is a regular cardboard box but I am not sure of the rulings of carrying on a cardboard box and I am bound to be stopped at the red light/green light thing carrying a box. I have seen some more decorative boxes for sale as wedding dress boxes on ebay but again these are just spruced up card boxes and they are about £25. HELP!!!!
  17. This is the list I put together for our guests. I believe it is accurate...I am sure Tsleege will confirm. El Charro and The Oriental no longer exist and there is another Italian that you do not have on your list. Arlequin – Gourmet restaurant in Akumal section Don Pablo - Gourmet restaurant in Tulum section Gran Tortuga - Brazilian Rodizio style restaurant in Tulum section Portofino - Italian restaurant in Coba section La Gourmet - Gourmet restaurant in Coba section Tequila - Mexican restaurant in Tulum section Mikado - Japanese restaurant in Coba section Pescador - Seafood restaurant in Coba section Dolce Vita - Italian restaurant in Akumal section Frustos del Mar - Seafood restaurant in Akumal section Mediterraneo - Mediterranean restaurant in Coba section
  18. Fantastic review and photos Cheeky26. Glad you had such a great time. Interested in the ipod thing because we are taking ours for the reception. We have an ipod nano. What did you mean when you said you had switch of with the phone? I am worried that this will not be suitable now and I do not have an iphone.
  19. Yes we have booked with TC too and I am under the impression that we are staying in Tulum. That is what was in the brochure.
  20. Great photo's as always. 6 weeks until we fly. 7 weeks tomorrow until we get married. Can't believe how close it is now. I am sure that without this thread I would be totally in the dark about the wedding abroad but I am really relaxed and excited.
