  1. Thanks Ladies... I'm so torn...I'm going with a Vintage Glam theme and I think both of these fit. I love the uniqueness of the first one and if I went with that one I was going to trim down the ribbon. and I love the pearl/crystal combo in the second one. I'm just afraid that the pearl one is to chunky/wide for me. I don't know why I just can't pull the trigger on this one....
  2. I'm sooo close to making a jewelry decision. I'm debating between two bracelets. Here is the first one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/85146443/nostalgic-vintage-swarovski-crystal And this is the second one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/62070727/bridal-bracelet-vintage-style-bridal I included the links so you can see more views. They are both from Etsy. Which one do you think looks best? Here is a pic of my dress bio incase that helps to give feedback. Thanks ladies! After this I need to search for earrings...lol... oh and a veil would be nice
  3. I just checked her work and it does look great! BUT $275 for hair and makeup is kind of pricey. I wish I could get some Great reviews about the make up artists at the resort, but I just haven't
  4. Thank you so much for the DJ info... I'm going to check him out on FB. I too am looking for a make-up artist. I'm nervous using the resort one, but it looks like that may be my only option. Please let us know if you find anything out.
  5. I don't think there was anything I really needed Mayte to clear up. I was just trying to compare my quote with others... mostly the menu. I talked to Mayte and we decided to wait until I have a better idea of what my guest count looks like since that will make a HUGE difference. Right now it can be anywhere from 40 - 80 people. So for now, I will revisit it in April after my RSVPs are in. I know that my reception will be at the Jellyfish regardless...never second guessed it. A resort wedding even if it was cheaper wouldn't satisfy my vision so waiting till April isn't a problem for me. I just wanted to know how much of my budget I really needed to allocate for the reception or if I needed to increase my budget. So to answer your question... the pricing hasn't changed it's the same as the booklet she sent out. Your quote changes when you start customizing and adding extras...which I was doing. I hope that helps
  6. Your wedding is coming up sooo soon! Congrats! I can't wait to hear your review on everything... Also, I'd love to get some feedback on the specific dishes and apps you try
  7. Alex it's Beautiful and looks gorgeous on you! You are going to look stunning!
  8. Awesome! Thanks! between your review and Jessica's I am now very confident that the bouquet will look great! Only 4 1/2 more months to go
  9. See... not to make a big deal about $1 dollar... but on the quote I just received a few days ago, she charged me $7 dollars per person for transportation. I will definitely be asking her about that. I soooo want to make sure it's clear that I'm not trying to freak anyone out or get anyone worried about pricing. NOR am I in any way trying to say that the Jellyfish is not being fair. I just wanted to make sure that my custom choices and the prices that I was quoted for them seemed fair. That is all. ex, I was quoted $420 for a cake when all I asked for was a small two tier cake to cut. I don't want cake for all my guests (I'm having a whole sweet table), I just wanted a cake for my new husband an I to cut... I didn't think I should have to pay $420 for it. I am still having my wedding at the Jellyfish no matter what. and if I need to pay more than I expected I will gladly pay it as long as it's accurate and fair. The last thing I want is everyone emailing Mayte because they are all nervous about their budget. I am very sure they would never change prices on someone that already had a quote or a pre-invoice. And lastly I apologize if I caused anyone to worry... Thanks!
  10. I don't have a new pricing sheet per se, all I have is the quote she sent me with the specifics that I wanted... so I'd really hate to scare anyone by sending out my quote. To be fair, my quote is for 70 people and has a lot of "nice to haves" that I will probably end up cutting out because of the cost. I expected my quote to be high...just not as high as it was. I'd be happy to PM anyone and compare, I just don't want to scare anyone and I am still very happy with the Jellyfish, I just want to make sure things look accurate. Does that make sense?
  11. I need a favor... Any past brides or current ones that have already received detailed quotes from Mayte willing to share or compare with me, can you please pm me? I just received my quote and it was A LOT higher than I estimated or expected and something doesn't seem right. almost like all the prices were raised by a lot. I was hoping that a recent bride would be willing to share with me some of the numbers they were quoted to see if I either need to suck it up or cut things out of the list to scale down or if I'm indeed getting charge more than I should. I have already written back to Mayte with questions, but I know it will probably be a week before I hear back and my FI is freaking out at the quote. I know budget isn't something everyone is willing to share, but I feel so in the dark and don't know if my expectations were wrong or what. thanks for any help! -Jen
  12. Aphrodite...I love the rock candy idea! Where did you get them from?
  13. Hi! Kwhite... I actually didn't sent out the STDs till I had a deposit put down on a resort. I worked with a Travel Agent and he was able to help me get pricing and package info. It took some time since the resort didn't have the 2012 pricing finalized when I started looking, but the TA was able to help me secure that info. I would suggest having a date secured with a venue whether it be a resort or restaurant or something else before sending out your STDs. Have you started working with a TA?
  14. Sunshine - I'm thinking of doing the same... I want to wear my heels for pics only and I want to wear sandals the rest of the time...I'm just running into an issue with how I want my dress hemmed...UGH... All three of these shoes are HOT! I like my first pick would be A and B would be my second! Have you decided yet?
  15. I know that she definitely can do that, she has done it before where she sections off a section of the sand with paper lanterns and lights. My FIs only request for the reception was to have a lighted dance floor...lol.. he saw it in a picture and immediately wanted it. And I didn't want just sand because I wasn't sure how loose the sand would be and I didn't want sand in the air while people were dancing. I know in some places the sand is pretty dense/packed so it's not an issue, I personally just didn't want to risk it. But I can see how dancing in the sand under the stars can be very romantic
  16. Welcome LonaJ! That's exactly how I felt! I already had my deposit put down at the resort and as soon as I came across the Jellyfish I knew I had to move it. At first I just moved the reception and then after a few months I decided I needed to do the whole wedding there. It truly looks like a magical place. I know Mayte sometimes takes a few days to respond since she is soooo busy, so be patient with her. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too!
  17. Thank you! @alvarezjazz - the "stamps" background is actually the only thing I ended up using from the template that I bought from aylee. You can buy the template here: http://www.ayleebits.com/2009/03/09/passport-invitation-template/
  18. NP Alex, This is what she sent me when I asked her: Dance floor options: Dance floor on the sand with lights and papper lanters: 200 Us Dance floor wood white with lights around : 350 US Led dance floor: 500 US Plasma dance floor: 600 US like a big TV on the sand. Also, she said that just like the DJ there is no time limit for the dance floor. The price is the rental fee for all night.
  19. Elissae - Congrats on your engagement! I definitely know how hard it is to coordinate dates with the school schedules! I have three kids and had to make sure I picked a date after they got out for summer break. Thank you so much for your compliments and kind words I do love to the DIY projects...lol. Stalk away! I try to post as much as I can in hopes to give others Ideas. I have gotten soooo many ideas from this site I just want to pay it forward where I can. I sent my STDs out at the end of May last year, so about a year in advance. I wanted to give my guests as much time as possible to save $ and vacation days. I think around the 1 year mark is a good time. I used the free boarding pass from Alyee Bits. I downloaded it and imported it into photoshope and designed it from there. For my passports I did purchase the template from Alyee Bits, but I changed it almost completely. All I used was the background. I imported into Adobe Illustrator and designed it from there. Some elements I did in photoshop. Feel free to ask any questions you have. I'll help out as much as I can. If you end up making the boarding passes and/or the passports, please share them when they are done. I'd love to check them out
  20. Thanks JB! congrats on your wedding... Looking forward to reading your review. I'd love to see pictures if you have any you can share
  21. I'm using Melia Caribe Tropical which I believe is right next to the Jellyfish.
  22. Thanks ladies! I think I'm going to go with the full orchind boquet and hope for the best I wanted to add... When I was asking Mayte about the DJ, she said that she could bring in the lighted dance floor. She gave me a quote for the lighted dance floor and LED or a plasma one (to have images on the dance floor). I think that's what I'm going to do. That way I would have the DJ and the lighted dance floor in the sand all night instead of just for 4 hours. One question that I had about the in house DJ, if you send him a list of songs, I'm assuming they don't just play them in order right? They actually blend them in and mix them up right? Well like a DJ right? lmao I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I want a DJ that will keep the party going, not just someone that is like a glorified ipod. does that make sense?
  23. I have been wondering the same thing! I really want to do that. I haven't researched it yet since I'm waiting to confirm other details and if budget allows then I will try to see if we can get a horse. I'm curious to see if other brides have suggestions or information.
  24. I was actually expecting more... so when she said $180 I got worried that it wouldn't look as full or cascading as the picture. And they are all orchids. and the $180 was just for the one bouquet. I also showed her this picture and she quoted me $160 for it: I hope that helps. What kind of flowers were you thinking of getting?
