I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! If you don't mind me asking... approx how much sand did each couple put in? I would love to do this, but not sure if it would be too much...I already bought that same frame and was going to have the ceremony done with me, my kids and my FI... but I like the idea of having our guests as our foundation and involved after making the trip to support and see us get married. If I do it I want to make sure all the sand fits..lol..

I'm not doing exclusive...I heard that if people go to the restaurant they are escorted upstairs and out of the way...I also thought I read somewhere that there really aren't that many people that go that are not part of the wedding so it's really not an issue. Personally, I'd rather save the 1k and use it elsewhere... -

I'm still unsure about my bouquet for the wedding... I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, but now I'm not so sure... Who is getting a real bouquet from Mayte's vendor? Who is using real-touch flowers? Can you post pictures of the bouquet you got or are planning on getting? If you went or are going through Mayte, are the flowers delivered to your resort or do you not get them till you arrive at the Jellyfish? I'm pretty sure it's too late now, but I'm thinking maybe I should have gone the real-touch route... -
I'm not a coral bride...but I'm doing orange and fuschia... I wanted orange dresses, but a tropical mango color orange...I had a hard time finding something I liked so I ended up going with fuschia. My dress is an Allure too. I went with Allure C175...I posted a pic in the beginning of this thread...I love it... Here is a more recent pic of the look I'm going for... this is from my first fitting...I still need the alterations to be done...

OMG! I know... can you believe it.... It's coming soo fast. Have you talked to Mayte recently? I emailed her a little over a week ago to get a new quote since we now have a guest list finalized and haven't heard back. Unfortunately or Fortunately depending on how you look at it we have less people than originally thought so it does help with cost... BUT the 36 adults that are going are all young big drinkers... so I think we will still be stuck with open bar ;( Are you all set with your wedding plans??? I feel like I still have A LOT to do! I can't wait to hear Alex's review from her wedding a few days ago! -
I had a little bit of a hard time picking because the dresses I liked my bridesmaids didn't care for...lol.... AND they really didn't want to wear orange... So we went with these dresses fuschia for the bridesmaids and dusy rose for the jr bridesmaid... they will each have an orange paper parasol. Here are pics of my daughters in the dresses... one is a bridesmaid and one is my jr bridesmaid: The color in the first pic is off... the true color is reflected in the pic of the back of the dress... don't mind the fact that my daughter didn't want to put her sandals on! The dress will also be hemmed to the middle of the knee.

I'm on the fence about open bar vs tab as well... but FI is stuck on open bar.. he feels our friends will defintiely out drink the cost of the open bar.. so we will either go with that or the beer/wine signature drink option... I'm still waiting to hear from Mayte on the price difference. From what I understand there dinner is $15 per kid and no additional charge for drinks for kids.... -

I have a timing question for previous Jellyfish brides... My group is staying at the Melia which from what I understand is "next' to the Jellyfish. Our ceremony is at 4:00pm. I'm trying to figure out apprx. what time the bus would pick the guests up from Melia to go to the Jellyfish. I'm working on printing out timelines and since I'm using vistaprint I wanted to get them sent out. does this sound about right? 2:00pm - guest meet in Melia Lobby to be picked up to go to the Jellyfish 4:00pm Ceremony at the Jellyfish 4:30pm - Cocktail hour at the Jellyfish (Bride and Groom photos) 5:30pm - First Dance followed by Dinner 7:00pm - Dessert & Dancing 10:30pm - After party @ Caribe Lobby Bar at Melia I'm not exactly sure about the last one... I would love to stay at the Jellyfish all night... but we are also trying to reduce the alcohol costs so we were thinking of going back to the hotel and dance at there bar/disco that usually has live music on the weekends. what do you think? What looks like it needs to be tweaked? -

Yeah she suggested 2 hours to start for us too.... we have 1 hour cocktail hour, approx 1 hour beer and wine for dinner and then 2 hours open bar... if you think about it, that's 4 hours after the ceremony for our guests... I think what she means is, to wait and see if after those 4 hours everyone is still up to partying and not drained out and ready to head back to the resort. You can always do the math for the extra 3 hours and have that cash on hand in case you decide to extend the party... but I'm thinking for budget purposes she's holding you to the 2 hours and you can always add more if needed.... Hope that helps. -

I'll cross my fingers for you and hope that it doesn't! I did hear that it calls for rain almost a lot in DR but rains just a bit so hopefully if it does rain it's not enough to put a damper on any of your activities. -

I finally received pretty much all our RSVPs and have a very accurate count of people attending I just sent Mayte a request for an updated quote... I also asked her for pricing differences in doing a la carte versus a packaged menu. Does anyone know if the photographers and videographers count toward the open bar cost? I know I am providing them a meal, but i'm not expecting them to drink. We are having 44 adults and about 10 kids. Hopefully the number won't change much between now and the end of June -

I think it depends on the options you want. For me, the cost is about the same if I had it at the resort or at the Jellyfish... I think the Jellyfish comes out just a bit cheaper... However, the personalization and the privacy we get at the Jellyfish plus the extra options is worth sooo much more. So I think it really depends on the feel you want your wedding to have. I think for most brides though, the Jellyfish does come out to be a better price and value. -

VERY PRETTY! I love your bouquet! I'm requesting a cascading orchid bouquet. Mayte gave me a quote, but since you said that Orchids are hard to come by in DR I'm a little worried. Hopefully they can make it the way the picture is. Also, did the flowers for your cake come from the same florist? -

I know it's been mentioned before, and I'm not sure it it was on this thread or a different one, but has anyone had success flying with Sparklers in their luggage? not carry-on, but checked baggage? I would really like to have a sparklers at my reception, but I don't know if I should spend the money to only have them taken away at customs. Anyone know if this would be an issue?
