venus909 replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I've been engaged since april and never posted a picture of my e-ring and since I've been admiring everyone else's I figured I should share mine... Here is my ring: This is how it will look with the wedding band, except we are having a duplicate custom made so there will be a band on each side of the ring... -

Has anyone made barefoot sandals? I saw these and thought they would be a great DIY project to make for myself and the bridesmaids to wear for the ceremony since we will be barefoot during the ceremony and pictures on the beach. BUT I am having a very hard time finding a pattern. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. If you have made your own, I would love to see pictures for inspiration! Thanks!

Marirocks... it sounds like you wedding was perfect... Do you have any pictures you'd be willing to share? Especially if your wedding was pink and orange I'd love to see... those are my colors too and I'd love to see what someone else did with them :-) Thanks! -
I have the program...I have started it multiple time, seen results and then stopped... The program definitely works and is worth the money. But you definitely need to be commited and motivated. I also have the Turbo Jam workouts that came before Turbo Fire and I love those as well! if you are on the fence, Get them!

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your date vav... but I must say I just checked out the Kukua Beach Club's website and that place and the pool look pretty amazing! I'm sure everything will work out great. I'm starting to think I better send a deposit in to the Jellyfish and not just take the word that my date is saved... I know many people have had luck with not sending in a deposit and just paying everything in full the day of, but now I'm nervous. -Jen -

Vav and Sherio, not sure if this helps calm the nerves, but if you guys didn't reserve the whole restaurant for the $1000 fee, it's possible that the both of you could be having your reception there at the same time... Especially since Vav said she was having her ceremony at the resort and not at the Jellyfish. I would still reach out to Mayte, but it sounds like it's quite possible that you both could be there at the same time.... I hope that's the case and not that one of you didn't get it :-( -Jen -
Any 2012 brides out there?
venus909 replied to Amelie-Mellow's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I don't think I've posted on this thread yet, But I am a 2012 Bride as well! I'm getting married June 29th 2012 at Melia Caribe Tropical! Super excited! -
Some resorts have a minimum hotel stay to be considered a "guest" I believe. I know my resort charges $1000 for outside vendors, and in order for them to be considered a guest they need to have a minimum of 3 nights stay. We are bringing our own photographer because like MissClarke74 I want the complete wedding day coverage and TTD session. My photographer won't charge us a fee, I just need to pay for her and an assistant's airfare and room. I will be paying for 3 nights, but they are staying on the resort for 7 so they are getting a mini vacation out of the deal...lol... so it ends up cheaper for me and they practically get a free vacation. I have heard of brides sharing a photographer as well... so that might be an idea for you...

Meg... you didn't send her any money in advance? I know when I asked about the deposit, Mayte told me that she saved the day and I could send her whatever I wanted whenever I wanted... it really did sound like she didn't need a deposit to reserve the date... but I just wasn't sure... almost sounds too good to be true...I get nervous about it because I'd hate to think I have the space reserved and then I don't.... BUT if you say that it worked for you then I guess it is true :-) -
Just wanted to say HI! I too am from Chicago and planning a June 2012 wedding. :-) we are getting marred on June 29th in the Dominican Republic. What I would suggest is get in touch with a travel agent. There are some that offer services for free. The company I went with is Free. The Travel Agent can help get you information on different resorts/hotels in the area of your choice as well as pricing. Might be helpful.

Meg... I just saw your videos and they made me tear up! What a beautiful bride you were! Thank you for sharing this amazing review, pictures and video. Definitely helps confirm that we are making a great choice by using the Jellyfish for our wedding. As of right now we are set up to have our ceremony at Melia and our reception at Jellyfish but after seeing your video/pictures I am considering doing both at the Jellyfish! -

Hi! I'm having my reception at the Jellyfish on June 29th, 2012. But I'm having my Ceremony at Melia. -
I was just in Mexico this past December. Cozumel actually. Before travelling I was very nervous about the crime in Mexico. However, I had no issues and we travel away from the resort and into town alot. We even took a ferry to Playa del Carmen (which I would say was even more beautiful than Cozumel). After talking to some of the locals there we were told that the resort area in Mexico is a lot safer and hasn't had any issues. I would think if you picked one of those area you wouldn't have anything to worry about. I believe (and I may be wrong) that the areas to stay away from are the areas that are mostly locals.
