  1. daisymabel.. not sure of the info about the restaurants...i think you have to have 40 people to "privatize' any of the restaurants...any other brides have those details??? R~
  2. wow...i'm a 2 dress bride..not because i didn't like my first dress rather i just didn't think it was THE dress that went with my destination..so i went and purchased another dress for the wedding. my first dress is lovely but it wasn't a real 'showstopper'...i'll end up wearing it at the reception and for our "stateside/courthouse" ceremony. good luck with your dress shopping...and happy planning!!! R~
  3. all, the bride can choose to stay at any of the three properties, however, if you're a Beach guest and wish to have your wedding at the Suites or the Grande, you're not allowed...but, if you're a Suites guest, you can have your wedding at the Suites or the Beach and if you're a Grande guest then you can have your wedding at any of the three properties, basically, as a Grande guest you have access to all three hotels....when you're a Suites guest, you can visit the Beach but not the Grande and when you're a Beach guest, you're not "allowed" to eat, drink or lounge at any of the other hotels, however, they will allow Beach guests to visit the Suites for the disco and the spa...which is the same spa and disco that Grande guests have access to, as well. of course, ALL guests have access to the same stretch of beach....so you can sneak a peak at the other properties by simply walking the shoreline. my thought was, my guests are paying to come to jamaica to witness my wedding and share in our festivities...so, i chose the Beach property because i didn't want to have to even THINK about them spending ANYMORE money than the price of their travel package..which, is only costing us about $900/pp, some $700 and others even $660...i have guests traveling from TX, MD, VA, IN and even FL. i've asked my guests to travel from 10/6-10/11 and to purchase travel insurance since that's during the atlantic hurricane season. and just so ya'll know, the wedding packages aren't that different AND the hotels aren't that different either. i visited last year and was very impressed with the Suites as well as the Beach property...because both properties allow kids, i didn't really notice any real 'differences' and frankly, that was another reason i chose the Beach property...also, the 'feel' of the Beach property is very 'young, hip and fun' which i believe my guests will enjoy. now, my fiance and i are staying at the Grande this time around, only because i MUST experience the butler service and figured it would be cool to do so for our wedding plus, we can sneak away for alone time and not have to 'worry' about bumping into any of our guests. we'll honeymoon at the Grande as well...and i can't wait! btw, some of the restaurants that Suite guests reserve are actually located in the Beach property, ie, the Japanese restaurant and the Cajun one...so just something else for everyone to think about. happy planning, all!!! R~
  4. pmwoodward, i don't have details about the other spa services but i bet if you call the hotel, they can transfer you to the spa for a list of services. my fiance and i had a couples massage in the spa last year and it was lovely...i do remember them being quite expensive...he and i are regulars at massage heights so we're spoiled by them... i know its not much info but i hope it helps. :-) R~
  5. I'm an Iberostar Rose Hall Beach bride (10.8.11) whose staying at the Grande. We did our site visit last year and stayed at the Suites, honestly, there's not much difference between the Suites and the Beach hotel; however, the Grande is pure opulence...plus I MUST experience the butler service. Most of my guests reserved the Beach property because its more cost efficient. All three hotels are within the same compound and in fact, if you want to meet 'beachside' you can...the only issue is the Beach hotel guests can't 'eat, drink' at the Suites, whereas the Suites guests can 'eat and drink' at the Beach but not the Grande. Grande guests can 'eat, drink and socialize' at ALL three hotels. Hope that helps. :-) Happy Planning!!! R~
  6. Salon & Spa PRICE Bridal Hair Style US$ 80 Bridal Make Up US$ 70 Manicure starting at: US$ 35 Pedicures starting at: US$ 55 Bridal Wedding Package (includes Bliss facial, Bliss Facial, The French Caribbean Manicure & Pedicure, Bridal Hair Style/up-do and Make-Up) US$ 295 those are the "Beach" prices..but the "spa" is in the Suites..so I bet the pricing is the same for all three hotels. happy planning! 7. i found convertible dresses on sale at target for $24.99...they will be my bridesmaid dresses...woo hoo!!!! TARGET is the bomb! happy planning!!! :-) R~
  8. i love the idea of the 'reveal' walking down the aisle...my fiance and i are very emotional people so the mere thought of that 'moment' is enough to make me want to experience it fully...so, we'll depart the night before and not see each other again until i walk down the aisle... happy planning, all!!! R~
  9. all..i found a cute ruched version of the convertible dress on target.com for less than $40. my bridal party consists of my three young adult daughters who will each wear the dress 'their way'...i wanted something versatile yet stylish which will flatter each girl's figure and i couldn't be happier with my frugal choice. happy planning!!! R~
  10. i LOVE it! i've been thinking of doing a circle or semi circle set up and THIS is proof that my 'vision' is worth doing...thanks for sharing!!! :-) R~
  11. JQLong..the dress looks amazing. i love pronovias gowns but decided against spending that sort of money of a dress. i chose a mori lee designer gown instead and i LOVE my dress..but the thought of purchasing a 'pronovias' knockoff is really appealing.. did i already tell you...your dress looks amazing! :-) happy planning!!! 13. eholt...no bathing suits at anytime in the buffet, either...AND they want men to wear shirts with sleeves..to avoid any 'hairy' situations..they can be short sleeves just no cutoffs...they'll allow you to have on a bathing suit and a cover up if you wish to dine at the outdoor restaurant at lunchtime, i forget the name of it...btw, the food selections are quite tasty..the suites is a beautiful resort..i know your wedding will be beautiful!!! :-) good luck! R~

  16. that's funny because i tried to email the Beach WC and my email was returned undeliverable...sounds like they're going through some sort of transitions over there. good luck next week!!! :-) R~
  17. LOVE the list! so nice to see everyone's dates!!! i was tickled to see mine!!!! i sent out my save the dates a year in advance, that way folks would have 12 solid months to plan and save. so far we have 16 people booked including the bride & groom..we have quite a few family and friends who insist they are going but with the way rates are looking right now, the longer they wait the more they're likely to pay. i had a big rush of bookers last month as it appeared that iberostar was running a hotel special..now prices are back to being sky high...i check the rates on expedia, etc. on a daily. can u say OBSESSED!!! i MUST find the best deal..then i do a blast email to our family and friends with the hope that they will be booking...i trust most will and those that don't..well, that's ok too. afterall, whoever is supposed to be there...WILL be there! Happy Planning, all!!! R~
  18. good luck! i used to live in NOVA too! i really miss the DMV!!! now, i'm a Texan...not nearly as much fun as being from up North. :-) R~
  19. its all good! no worries... :-) well, its traditionally done by chocolate brides at the end of the wedding ceremony. the custom dates back to the 19th century when slaves weren't allowed to marry, in an effort to publicly acknowledge their unions, slave couples would 'jump the broom'...there's been a resurgence of the tradition as many chocolate brides decide to institute the practice in modern day weddings. btw, there's a new movie out titled "Jumping the Broom"...its a great romantic comedy! :-) R~
  20. i know..how CRAZY is that! i thought, here i am telling her that i love the lightweight organza...so i go and start perusing the posts and lo and behold...there you are in MY or should i say OUR dress..lol!!! i was VERY close to choosing a pronovias gown but the darn thing was so expensive AND incredibly heavy so i kept searching, hopeful that i would find another dress..one that would make me feel INCREDIBLE in it...that's when i discovered the mori lee dress. i was blown away the moment i put it on...woo hoo!!! :-) R~
  21. Well, after watching the movie "Jumping the Broom", I'm TOTALLY on board with it and can't wait to start a tradition in my family. I'm the first to incorporate the 'broom' into my wedding ceremony. I'm hopeful that my two daughters and even my son will continue it into their weddings. Good luck with your planning!!! R~
  22. Hi, Jamaica2012!! IRHB is a beautiful property. I'll be jumping the broom there on 10.8.11 and will be sure to post pics and a review following our big day! :-) R~
