my fiance and i aren't marrying in mexico but both of us are divorced as well and to avoid the paperwork maze..we too are marrying stateside..plus in jamaica, where we're holding our ceremony, its actually cheaper to 'renew vows' vs. performing a legal ceremony. good luck! as always, happy planning!! Thinking about Jamaica!!
futuremrstgun replied to Gin Bootles's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
jamaica is beautiful..iberostar rosehall is AMAZING...by far the best resort on the island and they only do one wedding per day..no mass weddings at iberostar..so you'll get to have the exclusivity of being the only bride at your resort and you'll LOVE IT! there are other very nice resorts on the island including sandals with free martha stewart themed weddings, breezes (very nice and has a great island feel)...so, check out BDW forums and read the hotel threads..there's lots of insightful information on here. good luck with your decision!! hello iberostar rosehall brides! many of you have inquired about seatings and plates at each of the specialty restaurants so i thought i'd pose the question to the beach WC...here's the 'skinny' for iberostar rose hall beach restaurants. The color of the plates: white and yellow with blue are in the Steakhouse and Cajun have white and blue. The Japanese restaurant is not recommended for a reception because of the type of the tables (teppanyaki) but it is perfect for a rehearsal dinner. I do have pictures of the Steakhouse but I cannot provide you with the Cajun ones yet. JAPANESE RESTAURANT “SAMURAI†Air-conditioned. Long pants are mandatory. Non-smoking. As appetizers you can choose from a variety of sashimi, sushi, maki (stuffed rice rolls) and vegetables tempura. As main course you can choose from seafood, chicken and beef prepared on the griddle at your sight at the Teppanyaki, served with rice and vegetables. The Teppanyaki is a big cooking table that seats up to 18 people, where you can watch the Chef prepare your meal. (Seating 6:30, 7:00, 8:30 & 9:00 pm) CAJUN RESTAURANT “JAMBALAYA†Air-conditioned. Long pants are mandatory. Non-smoking. As appetizers you will have a choice of salads and warm appetizers including tropical shrimp dishes, squid, gumbo, soups and special vegetarian sauté selections. As main course there are Jambalayas, fettuccine, grilled seafood, roasted poultry, and special cuts of beef all served in wonderful array of Cajun spices. A Buffet will cater an assortment of tasty desert. (Seating 6:30, 7:00, 8:30 & 9:00 pm) STEAKHOUSE RESTAURANT “UNCLE TONY’S†No air-conditioning. No long pants required. As appetizers you will find a delicatessen buffet with a variety of smoked meat or fish, cocktails and salads. As main course you can order from the menu different cuts of meat: Top Sirloin, Rib-eye, Tenderloin, Beef Plate, Beef Ribs, Pork Chops, Fish of the day and chicken, all served with baked potato covered in sour cream. (Seating 7:00, 7:30, 8:30, & 9:00 pm)

good morning, brides! i've been contemplating about today's post ALL NIGHT! should i add ANOTHER DIY project to my list..well, after conferring with my BFF and my fellow DIY DIVA EXTRAORDINARE torilynnsmith, i thought, ok..WHY NOT!?! so BDW, here's the latest...as you i'm sure you can tell, i'm ALL about COORDINATING..everything needs to match or go with the wedding's theme and colorscape...so..my fiance and i are having a welcome reception in the lobby bar of the iberostar rosehall beach on thursday night (the first night that our guests are in jamaica) followed by dinner. i wanted to make the 'welcome reception' look more like a reception and not merely a meeting at the lobby bar, so i decided..i need DRINK FLAGS...personalized ones, of course...after scouring the web for inspiration, here's what i've come up with. ladies, these were fairly painless to make..and i think they'll add a nice touch for our welcome reception and maybe even our wedding reception..i'm thinking i'll use the paisley printed ones for the welcome reception and maybe the ribbon ones for the wedding reception. can't wait to hear yall's (ode to TX for the ya'll) thoughts on these. well, that's it for today's planning post. until next time, happy planning!! michcraw...THANKS, for the words of encouragement. ok, so my thought on logos on bags...i don't recommend it unless its professionally printed. my thoughts on DIYing is..it shouldn't LOOK like something you made yourself and with iron on transfers..they tend to look, well, 'homemade'..so, maybe you can take them to a local start up print shop they might be able to help you...OR..maybe just nix the idea of putting the logo on the bag and use a really pretty tag instead. oftentimes, logo items end up in file 13 or the back of the closet..so i'd hate for guests to use the totes while at the wedding only for them to become 'useless' after...especially after you've gone through the process of putting your logo on them. just my thoughts. until next time, happy planning!! ps...mrsjdh2b..i live in san antonio...a mere hop skip from college station!

Montego Bay Airport Questions....
futuremrstgun replied to Sllefebvr's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
hello ladies! my fiance and i travel to jamaica every Fall...and so here's the skinny. yes you complete the form onboard..no they don't take it from you..you present it upon arrival to the immigration personnel. you will get one form if traveling as a family..if you have two different last names, two forms are needed. i'd highly recommend that your guests bring a pen along..it can get 'crazy' asking or waiting on the use of a pen 20-30k up in the air.. here's a sample of the form that's distributed onboard. when you get off the plane, you go to immigration..which, depending on the time of day can be a long and tedious process..oftentimes, there aren't enough immigration personnel available, hence the reason it takes so long plus most of them are on island time (get used to it, you're on vacay, mon); however, on occassion you get in just as a few other planes are arriving and you get lucky with a clear shot to get up front quickly. (keep your fingers crossed) once you're through immigration, you get your bags...the bags are usually already going around the turnstyle when you get to the baggage area. you'll take your bags and then proceed to customs. you'll be asked a few questions and if you're traveling together (which i assume you will be) you can go up to the customs desk together...they ask the questions and viola...you're out of customs. after customs, you'll proceed to the ground transportation/resort welcome centers. you will be solicited OFTEN for rides or to purchase the 'local fare', etc...if your resort has a welcome center..check in there..they will handle your ground transportation and set you up with a nice cold red stripe or some water or even a soda...so, now's the time to kick back and relax..you're on vacay, mon! if your resort didn't handle your ground transportation and you're working with jamaican travels..then proceed to their counter, check in, present your transportation voucher and then they will proceed to put you on a luxury type bus for transportation. negril is a few hours from the airport and the island roads can be scary BUT the drivers are well trained, friendly and they will ensure that you have a GREAT trip to/from. i highly recommend you contact the jamaica tourist board for the FREE booklets filled with helpful info for your guests...a great intro for them and its FREE! enjoy, jamaica..once you go..you'll know. until next time, take care!!
