  1. I totally agree! I was on another wedding forum for a long time, but I'm sick of the fakey two-faced members. I graduated high school years ago, I intend to stay away from the drama.

Although I'm still very new, all of the ladies on here have been so sweet and welcoming! Cheers to some of the coolest brides I know cheer2.gif

  2. Thanks, JayKay! I think I will. I'm going to wind up ordering a replica gown from DHGate, but I may wear this one for the AHR. I'm kind of glad that I had this "test run" if you will because I honestly wouldn't have been that happy on my wedding day. I just didn't get that feeling once I had my hair and makeup all done and everything.

After reading other threads on here, I'm glad to see I'm not totally nuts for second guessing my gown!

  3. I don't know about the company that you mentioned (I've seen them around too, and for what it's worth they look pretty reputable), but I am using Steve from Dream Weddings Hawaii. He is so nice, and his package (that I am using anyway) includes 2 hours of photography and videography (both of which he is EXCELLENT at) and the minister for only $670!

One of the other things that I love about him, is that each of the emails that he has written to me from the very beginning has been a completely personalized, not copied and pasted stock email, to me. That is important to me because in my eyes, it means that person actually cares about their client as an individual not as just another paycheck.

He is on Oahu, but I'm sure he'll travel for next to nothing. He is an incredibly accommodating person and very friendly, just take a look at his blog and you can see his personality.

    Good luck with your planning!

  4. Hey ladies! I'm new here on BDW, but have been a long time stalker. My fiancee and I were originally planning a wedding at home here in Oregon, but after all of the drama (and money figures) we've decided to plan an elopement (I guess?) with no guests for the beginning of next year. We're going to be getting married on Lanikai Beach on Oahu, and neither of us can wait!

I purchased my dress last week actually, and had to wear it over the weekend for an inspiration shoot for a friend's blog. I love the dress, but now that we're getting married on the beach I'm second guessing it. As I'm looking through these photos, I'm worried about how the dress will look against a beach scene. Plus, I've always wanted an organza skirt, and I think this is that perfect chance now that we're going to be in the tropics. The dress isn't heavy by any means, it's pretty light, but I just can't stop thinking that maybe I should switch my gown...what do you all think??

  5. I haven't worked with them, but taking a look at their prices, WOW! $2700 for hardly anything? There are so many more options that you can take, and plenty of secluded beaches that will give you that same intimacy.

  6. Hey ladies!! FI and I are planning for January of 2013 in Oahu! We were originally planning an average wedding here in Oregon, but decided to go with our guts instead :) I'm looking around for an all-inclusive wedding package in Oahu, or some advice on how in the heck to plan it on my own!! I'm trying to spend no more than $1300, so I'd appreciate any help that you all have :) It's just going to be the two of us, so nice and intimate!

    Congrats to you all! :D

  7. My fiancee and I are getting married in May 2013 on Oahu. We won't be having any guests, so it will be just the two of us. I would like to be able to stay dressed up in our wedding apparel for longer than the 20 minute ceremony but can't think of what to do? We're on a tight budget but I just can't think of anything that we could do.

    Any suggestions?

  8. Hey ladies! Sorry to butt in.

I am currently trying to find a venue for our DW in Jamaica and another bride on BDW told me about the Grand Bahia. We won't be having any guests but still want to have a cake and obviously photography. Does the resort offer that?

Also, I told FI that we MUST go swimming with dolphins, I have an obsession and ever have since I was a little girl. So I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about doing that down in Jamaica as well? Thanks in advance girls! :)

  9. Hey ladies! My name is Halsey :)

My fiancee and I have been engaged since December, and up until now have been planning a traditional wedding. However, after looking at finances it just makes more sense for us to have a DW. I have no family or friends, so we would be paying completely for his family to attend, and I would much rather have a more intimate ceremony. We will not have any one at our wedding with us, we decided we just want it to be us. Plus, FI has never been out of the country, let alone Pacific Northwest, so I'm excited to take him somewhere tropical!

I'd like some ideas for all-inclusive resorts, preferably in Jamaica. I know about Sandals, but I also have a feeling there are cheaper resorts out there. Any suggestions would great! Also, I don't know what time of year we should go??

    Thank you all!

  10. Hey ladies! What beautiful dresses! I'm on a very tight budget for my wedding, about $500 which won't be too bad since we're doing a pot luck reception and getting married at a beautiful park here in Oregon. I've been lurking on this thread since about December, and have finally found a dress I would love to get re-created. I would like opinions on who the best knock-off designer would be (monica bridal or babyonline). Thank you in advance ladies! :)
