  1. I really love this cake...its so unique and tropical! But I highly doubt that a local baker or our hotel could make something exactly like this.
  2. Hi Stacey00, I think your bouquet flowers and colors are really beautiful and vibrant. The multiple colors look good together and don't look too overwhelming. They would be wonderful inspiration for your centerpieces. The bamboo centerpiece is interesting, but I would worry that the bamboo color is a bit dark, especially if your reception is in the evening -- perhaps you can go with a lighter bamboo? Also, the height of the bamboo may make it difficult for guests to see each other at the table?
  3. Congrats. Wow, you did an amazing job! Thanks so much for sharing, especially the templates.
  4. We asked our Travel Agent if he can provide a price guarantee or match, in the event our guests find cheaper flights on discounted websites. He agreed to match the price but will charge our guests a $200 change fee -- so essentially the price match is only worth it if the airfare decreases over $200. Is this a standard price match offered by most travel agents? If not, would it be better to have our guests book separately through travel websites?
  5. Hi Rae12VB, There's another recent thread about wedding websites, and some of the brides posted their websites. Check it out...I found it helpful. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/71698/wedding-website
  6. If we end up doing 4-hours of photography, our schedule would look exactly like yours! For videography, we are doing home videos. All my family members have high-end digital camcorders anyways. My sisters said that they preferred the home videos of their wedding, over the professional videos, because they caught more funny and interesting moments.
  7. That's great to hear, JayKay. Have you found a good website that sells nice, affordable ones? Thank you.
  8. Can you bring a second IPOD as a back-up? That's what we plan to do if we use our IPOD instead of a DJ.
  9. I've been looking for alternatives for wedding arches/chuppahs and found these: heart set-up, bamboo tripods and decorate aisle. I thought they were really beautiful and wanted to share.
  10. Just wanted to bump this post to ask if anyone has recent experiences with a good baker? Anyone with feedback and info about Margaret Myrie or Noida? Thanks!
  11. Some beaches may have hookworms if there are stray cats or dogs roaming around the hotel properties. I would just be cautious, but not be overly paranoid.
  12. Thanks Rae12vb...this is very helpful! This gives me alternative options if our travel agent doesn't work out.
  13. We would like fake or replica starfish too, but they're expensive and haven't found ones that look nice and natural-looking.
  14. We're having our reception dinner on the beach and the wind will probably blow out candles. We could use hurricane glass holders, but we really don't want to carry these on the plane! We're thinking of using LED battery operated candles. Anyone have recent experiences with using battery operated candles? How did they look and did they last long? Thanks for any help!
  15. Congrats on your recent wedding! We're thinking of hiring Stacey...does she really stick to the time limit? I'm just wondering if she and other photographers really charge the additional hour if you go over a little bit. I doubt that my fiance and I will remember the time clock on our wedding day!
  16. I haven't taken advantage of downloading attachments yet, but it's just nice not to be called a noob anymore :-) You can reach the 150 posts faster if you participate actively in some of the questions/answers games on the Ladies Lounge forum (some only require 1 word responses!). 17. I'm not a past bride, but recently went through the exact situation like you. I chose a photographer I really liked and could only afford a 3-hour package, although I could have gone with another photographer with unlimited time. You can always add additional hours later and pay the hourly rate, when you get closer to your wedding and you know how you're doing with your overall wedding budget. That's what I'm planning to do.
  18. Congrats on finishing the OOT bags...really nice job! I like the travel blanket and drink cheat sheets.
