  1. If you go to Jamaica Wedding Vendors forum, you'll find lots of recommendations and threads on photographers for Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. Take a look at Stacey Clarke and Misha Earle's websites...they are fantastic photographers and have great reviews on BDW. Good luck! http://www.mishaearlephotography.com/ http://www.staceyclarkephotography.com/
  2. We're thinking of doing a "wishing shells" guestbook. We'll ask our guests to sign large, decorative seashells (with metallic colored pens) and place them in a glass vase, which we'll take home and display.
  3. Those are really pretty, cGd41812! May I ask where you bought those flowers...are they real touch or silk flowers? Our flowergirls want hairpieces.
  4. I'm bumping up this post because I saw this post by Tammy alerting brides about a make-up artist posing as a bride....this really bothers me! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/66432/suggestions-on-make-up-artist-in-jamaica/120#post_1634893
  5. We booked only 4 hours for our wedding...I'm also now really worried that that's not enough time. We're expecting 50 to 60 guests.
  6. I love your idea of painting these seashells and using them to line the aisle! Hope you don't mind, but I might steal your idea. I've been trying to find painted or dyed seashells, but haven't found the right colors so painting might be a better option. Will you be reusing your aisle seashells for your table decorations? Thanks!
  7. Thank you for sharing the OOT bag article, Soon2beMrsG! This is great :-)
  8. Wow, these are really great Tori! You're so talented and organized and your wedding is not even until next year. If I was your guest, I would certainly feel so special. We've been having a hard time deciding whether to do OOT bags...uncertain whether we want to carry all this stuff with us on the plane (and I'm not a very good DIY bride). May I ask how much you spent in total for your OOT bags/contents and how you plan to transport them? Thanks!
  9. Here are some sites that have yellow hibiscus flowers (both real touch and silk). BloomBridal.com has real touch yellow and white hibiscus, but the other 2 sites have yellow silk ones. A lot of brides on this forum use BloomBridal, so I'm sure the quality will be good. Good luck! Scroll down to "Hibiscus" and you'll see white and saffron colors: http://www.bloombridal.com/categories/Our-Real-Touch-Flowers/ http://www.save-on-crafts.com/hibiscus.html http://www.afloral.com/Silk-Flowers-Artificial-Flowers-Fake-Flowers?search=yellow+hibiscus
  10. Nice job putting all of this together! Did you make the The Jamaica Guide? If not, where did you get the guide? Thanks!
  11. You can generally find tropical flowers like anthuriums (heart-shaped), bird of paradise, bougainvillea, and orchids in the Caribbean. Anthuriums, bougainvillea and orchids come in many colors, but you can find them all in orange. Hope that helps.
  12. We sent out our Save-the-Dates as soon as we booked a wedding date and hotel location (about a year in advance). We're planning to send out invitations about 6 months before our wedding, and will ask our guests to RSVP 4 months prior to the wedding. With 4 months, this will give us time to finalize reception costs, favors, OOT bags etc. But if your rooms have to be booked by January, perhaps you should send out formal invitations by September 1st and ask for RSVPs by November 1st (which will give you a 1-month cushion in case you have to track down guests who don't respond -- which will probably happen, unfortunately!
  13. Absolutely no. I would not choose a resort if they did not allow us to use our own vendors. If I was that bride you mentioned above, I would object to that change in policy as the old policy should remain applicable to her. Hopefully, her contract specifically included the old policy of using her own vendors.
  14. Thank you for sharing, June11bride. We're thinking of using our POD for our ceremony and reception, to save money on the DJ cost. Would you mind sharing more details on how the IPOD reception went, who controlled it, and whether your guests liked it better than a DJ?
  15. Congrats on the wedding! Everything was so beautiful...I loved the colors and decorations, and you looked amazing!
  16. I just noticed that your wedding is this July! I don't think you should add stress by trying to make changes with such little time.
  17. You're having a destination wedding --- which is already untraditional. So, I personally don't think you have to match everything. I'm not matching everything either. It's your wedding and do what makes you happy! All of my family and friends keep telling me that no one will really care about the details because everyone will be admiring and enjoying the beautiful destination!
  18. VistaPrint keeps sending me email specials, with many specials offering free standard and oversized postcards for free (you just pay for shipping). I just ordered 100 free postcards...maybe you can just look out for the specials and redo them?
  19. The postcards look really great! And you did them the hard way in Word too. I took a shortcut and just did our postcards through VistaPrint and it was so easy because templates are available!
  20. I think that's is such a great idea to reuse your ceremony arrangements for your reception...I may consider doing that too! Does your reception location have an entrance...maybe you can place them there? Or at location where your guests may want to take some pretty photos, or near the cake table?
  21. OMG, you're so wonderful Sllefebvr! Yes, I would love to see pictures of the different starfish and sand dollars. If you could find out if they're made of plastic, resin, etc, that would be helpful too! We don't have a Christmas Tree Shoppe where I live, and I've been searching for a while for fake ones. Thanks so much!
  22. Our room is very close to the wedding ceremony/reception location, so I can just go back for things. But my fiance can also carry my lipstick and small items in his jacket or pants pocket :-)
  23. Thanks for sharing these, Ishaef. I really like these centerpieces and would like to see if my hotel can replicate something similar. What are yute overlay...are those bamboo baskets?
  24. Thanks PintSize1. I checked out this website but it looks like these are real starfish. Are you sure that they are fake starfish?
  25. Hi JayKay, That's sounds really strange to have to pay to get assigned seating together, but I've never flown on Transat Air. I've traveled overseas a lot though and have never had to pay for seats together. January is high season in Jamaica, so the flights may likely be full or close to full. To be safe, I would pay so that you and your fiance and can sit together.
