  1. You definitely need to carry your wedding dress in a garment bag or pack it in your carry-on luggage (not your checked-in luggage). Also, remember to turn your dress inside out so that it doesn't get dirtied by the TSA handlers at the security checkpoint!
  2. Our hotel confirmed with the local fire department and environmental agency that a permit (including fee) is required due to the potential fire hazard. If we release them without a permit, and someone reports us, we'll be penalized. More than likely, we'll be reported since most people will not know that these are sky lanterns and may think it's a strange occurrence in the sky. We decided not to use the sky lanterns because we don't want to go through the hassle of getting a permit.
  3. It's cheaper to buy the decorations and bring them with you, rather than renting them from the hotel. If the decorations are foldable, like fabric, they should be easy to pack in your luggage. My family and friends will be carrying some of my decorations. Is it possible for you to do that? I would have concerns about ordering them and shipping them to Mexico...what if they lost!
  4. Hi there! There's another thread about this same question. If you have a wedding coordinator, could you ask her to give you the dimensions of the arch...then you perhaps you can figure out the length of the fabric? http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/49848/how-much-fabric-for-the-wedding-arch
  5. The postcard is so colorful and fun...nice job, Satara! Satara PC 1-2.pdf
  6. These sky lanterns are so beautiful and hope that we can do this at our hotel, but I also have the same concern that it's prohibited on planes since they're flammable?
  7. Red and plum colors are really beautiful and tropical, and the color contrast with your ivory dress and white flower bouquet will be so exciting. I like all the multi-colored bouquets, but not so excited about the all-red one (#4). Have fun choosing!
  8. We can't afford to spend that much on OOT bags either, so we asked our hotel to purchase local candies and snacks for us -- which we'll put in the welcome bags when we arrive at our destination. It's so much more affordable and we don't have to carry all the stuff with us on the plane (except for the beach bags). And we know that our guests will enjoy trying the local foods!
  9. Hi Satara - Do you know where the BDW bride bought these clam shell holders and the cost? What's the size? I would love to get these too for our flowergirls. Thanks!
  10. Congrats...that's really wonderful. You looked gorgeous...the wedding photos are beautiful!
  11. Congrats on getting so much done already, Satara -- and your wedding is not until 2013! I'm getting married next year and haven't done as much as you. I really love the shell bouquet and flowergirl shell basket....very unique. My fiance is afraid that I'll poke him with the shell bouquet, so I'll have to stick with a flower bouquet :-) The bridesmaid dresses are gorgeous...can't wait to see your wedding dress!
  12. Thanks Sllefebvr! I'm getting next year, so I have some time.
  13. Some of the other brides recommended this website for clear, sturdy luggage tags. Good luck! http://tags.idcardgroup.com/productdetails.aspx?item=1840-620
  14. Hi Sllefebvr! Do you have photos of the medium size starfish...do you know how many inches in size? $1.99 for a pack is super cheap for fake starfish...they're quite expensive online! We don't have a Christmas Tree Shop where I live :-(
  15. It might take a day or so for your status to change to junior member so you can download. I'm online for next half hour...if you need some of the attachments now, PM me and I can email them to you.
  16. Yes, but depends on the promotion link. Another bride posted this website for VistaPrint freebies, and I've been using the free links! Scroll down to the bottom of website, and click on "Uploads start at $4.99. Now Free". Log in to your account and then select the 100 free postcards (and at the bottom, you'll see that the Upload is free). http://vistaprint-goddess.weebly.com/sample-email.html
  17. In case it's helpful, I found that if you do web searches for "resin starfish" or "replica starfish", you're more likely to find fake starfish. These sites sell them. Fake starfish is definitely more expensive than natural starfish! http://www.momentsofelegance.com/catalog/starfish-favors-resin-p-3702.html http://www.nauticalseasons.com/restset34.html
  18. Are these tags clear on both sides, or is one side frosted? Thanks!
  19. No, the BDW policy says you can't change your profile name (and you can't close your existing account). I think you'll just have to create a new profile/account.
  20. Thanks for the tip, R! I wasn't sure whether to dye or spray paint, seems like your method is easier! Do you know if you can dye sanddollars too?
  21. Yes, but the starfish has to be real ones (not the resin or plastic). Maybe your resort is more flexible :-)
  22. Is your wedding on the beach? If so, you might need to get permission from your hotel to throw silk or fake petals on the sand. For this reason, we have to use real petals for tossing by the flowergirls. Our flowergirls wanted to throw tiny starfish, but I don't want to have to bring these and they may poke someone's eyes out! I might have them blow bubbles :-)
  23. Do you know if preserved flowers will hold up okay in the tropical heat? I decided not to use preserved flowers because my wedding coordinator said it won't last. So, I'll either purchase silk petals or use natural petals. Thanks!
  24. No, she didn't mentioned how much they charge. But they play for some of the major resorts including Sandals. Beaches Negril is a Sandals resort, so perhaps your hotel can help you negotiate a good deal? Good luck...I think it'll be so much fun to have a steel band!
