  1. That's nice, Krysta. I think we might go with something like this...Jamaican flag/colors within the map. Our guest can sign inside the map.
  2. JAMAICA 2012 JAMAICA BRIDES
  3. We're planning to do a Jamaica map too for our guest book. If you find a nice map, let me know. I'll do the same. Thanks!
  4. We booked our 2 photographers for 3 hours and they will cover first 30 minutes of our dinner. Do we need to offer them dinner (costs $100 per person)? What about the DJ and outside wedding coordinator who will be there for over 5 hours?
  5. Riu Tropical Palace has a better beach than Riu Negril. They are both in Bloody Bay, which is part of 7-Mile Beach but more secluded (less beach vendors) and less packed with hotels. As Albellis noted, Riu Tropical Palace guests have free exchange privileges to Riu Negril's nightclub and other amenities (but not vice versa). If price difference is not big, I think Riu Tropical Palace is much better choice. Good luck.
  6. Are you looking for location in Ocho Rios? Jamaica Inn is near this area, and is considered one of the top hotels in Jamaica and has a beautiful, secluded beach. If you really want to stay at Couples San Souci, can your single members share a room? You just can't have single occupancy, so would the hotel really not allow two people in a room who are not a couple? http://www.jamaicainn.com
  7. Hi there! I've been to Jamaica and have gone on the catamaran cruises. Doesn't the Grand Palladium include a catamaran cruise as part of it's all-inclusive package? If not, check out Negril Cruises or Wild Thing Water Sports...you can book private cruises. I've done both and they are a lot of fun! You can negotiate discounted rates for a wedding party. http://negrilcruises.com/cruises.html http://www.wildthingwatersportsnegril.com/
  8. If you love the save the date boarding passes, I think you should keep them If you haven't printed the boarding passes, could you include your wedding website link and provide more info on the resort, pricing, etc on your website? When I sent out our save the dates, our wedding website was not fully complete but I only activated the website pages related to the resort and flight information.
  9. Wow, this looks great Amjohnson. How did you cut it so it looks so perfect, and what size paper? I'm working on a pre-travel brochure right now, and uncertain whether to do a passport style (seems like a lot work) or a tri-fold brochure that will be printed by Vistaprint. Thanks!
  10. One of my nieces had suggested throwing tiny starfish, but I'm worried that they may accidentally poke someone's eyes. I'm going barefoot down the aisle, so I would be stepping on them! SUBMIT
  11. That is very cute...hmm, maybe I can have my nephews carry the sign :-)
  12. Hi, I was recently in Montego Bay and Negril. Private roundtrip airport transfer between Montego Bay and Negril are $60 to $70 per person total, excluding tip. I think your travel agent is charging too much. There are a number of reliable transportation companies listed on TripAdvisor.com. Once you're in Negril, to get from one hotel to another, you can take a taxi which will cost between $5 to $10 total depending on distance. Good luck! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g147313-Activities-Negril_Jamaica.html
  13. We're also looking to hire a live reggae band or steel drum band. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
  14. Sorry to hear that...did they really order a bigger size? Maybe you should take your dress to another shop for alterations and not give them any more business! I have a different concern with my bridal shop...my sample I tried on was too big and they told me I need to order size 0, and I'm so worried that it might not fit!
  15. Blowing bubbles is such a cute idea, but I already got the white beach pails. Our flowergirls love the pails, but want to throw something else besides petals.
  16. If you haven't already, you and other brides should write reviews of him on this forum under Vendor Reviews. You can also post reviews on WeddingBee, TripAdvisor Jamaica forum, etc. When future brides do an internet search (and if he does internet search of himself), negative reviews will come up. You can also write to him and let him know that you plan to post these reviews. Good luck!
  17. Our cut-off date for final RSVPs is 3 months before the wedding. This is in part because we have to put down some heavy vendor deposits (based on guest count), and I need time to do all the DIY projects!
  18. Our wedding coordinator is only asking for copies of our birth certificates and photo id. Do the documents need to be notarized? SUBMIT
  19. Our flower girls will carry decorative white beach pails. Some of our flower girls would like to do something else besides tossing flower petals down the ceremony aisle. Do you have other ideas about they can toss? Thanks so much.
  20. I really like your idea of painting the tote bags. Do you know if the paint will come off if the bags are washed? Thanks!
  21. I really love this look and blue glow. What's inside the vases?
  22. Hi Peach, Did you decide what to do? I'm sorry that you're going through this. If you and your fiance want a destination wedding, you should still do it! It's your wedding. Many of the brides here do get legally married at home, but see their symbolic DW as their real wedding/anniversary. I think if you're okay having the legal ceremony at home before your DW, maybe keep it real simple (nd cheap) and only for your family. The other thought is maybe do your symbolic DW first, then when you get back home for AHR, you can do a simple legal ceremony at the AHR with your family? Quote: Originally Posted by Peach Okay, if anyone reads this, I am after some advice... There has been a LOT of family drama on my side about a DW. I have been trying not to let it bother me. But the other day my dad called and spoke rationally but still emotionally about their concerns. Namely: 1 - I am the first in my entire family to be married, and my grandparents (we both have all 4 still) are too old to travel. I am very close with them and my grandmas are fairly heartbroken about missing it. I am planning on doing an AHR there, but apparently that is not enough. 2 - I come from a religious family; which are all extremely concerned that I am not being married in a church (I have always wanted to be married outside) 3 - the time of year - farmer family, all busy haying. Might not be able to come for that long. I cannot do anything about 3. I am a teacher; I get summers off. That is when it will be. BUT - even though FI and I really wanted to do everything - legal and whatnot - in the Dominican, we are thinking maybe we could get legally married here first, with just parents and grandparents. In a church. Here is my dilemma. If we do the legal thing at home, and the DW, AND the AHR.... is that not a bit MUCH? We would keep the legal thing here simple... small church ceremony, going out for dinner to a restaurant. That is it. We really did not want to do this, but we understand how important it is to my grandparents... I just can't help but think, then why even do a DW? Is this not a lot? I know a lot of brides get legally married first, so... what do you think? I guess I just need my mind eased.
  23. My fiance and I still trying to decide about getting legally married in Jamaica. Do you know how much it costs for the legal ceremony (hiring minister), marriage license application, and all the necessary paperwork/processing? Thanks so much!
  24. We haven't purchased our airfare either. Our travel agent said that lots of seats are still available and advised that we purchase this Dec, or wait after the holidays (after Jan 1). If prices don't decrease after holidays, our agent doesn't think prices will decrease and we should book right after holidays.
