  1. We went back and forth about an AHR...my fiancé's family is huge and his mom is all about having one. One day after watching the cost of the AHR go up and up and getting tired of picking things out for the AHR, I broke down to my fiancé and just said I didn't want to do all that...so he said "that's fine with me! We will just do more for the people that come to the wedding then!" so that was our decision....but now his mom wants to have a celebration back home still so we told her if she wants to host it, fine, I am not planning anything, I am just showing up! Supposably it's just going to be a big BBQ, but we shall see...I am just showing up! Lol
  2. This is definitely a hard part of planning a DW...my fiancé's sister doesn't know if she will be coming because she can't afford it, but she's always out shopping...and same for my best friend! I think the thing that hurts is you want to be understanding that people can't come because of finances but then u see them spending money frivolously and it hurts your feelings. Just like some of the other ladies said...whoever is there is the most important and your day will still be amazing...everyone else is missing out.
  3. We are having our wedding at an all-inclusive also but the package only includes a 1/2 hr cocktail reception...so we figured we would have a sit down 2 hour private reception...but the more I think about it, we may do the dinner at one of the restaurants and then go to the resort club later for dancing...decisions decisions! It's going to come down to how many people book for us.
  4. Wow! This thread has so many great ideas! I'm still undecided on OOT bags also...I may just do the underwater cameras and another small gift with a welcome note. Thanks ladies!!
  5. Thank you so much!!! It's an awesome feeling and truly made me even more excited about my wedding day!!!
  6. Ok ladies, I went and looked at my receipt and I bought my dress 15 days after I got engaged...and that was a year ago.... Definitely was an impulse buy from all the excitement....so I grabbed my future sister in law and we went back to the bridal shop I originally bought my dress at...I walked in with a gown in mind...had them pull it and as soon as I saw it in person it was a no...so I asked for ANY fit and flare gowns they had...mind you when I walked in I pointed out a gorgeous Vera Wang gown but didn't think it would go with a beach wedding...my future SIL made me try it on anyway (and it was a fit and flare of course)....so long story short I tried on about 15 more dresses and even my original dress again...and I was IN LOVE with the Vera! Nothing compared to that dress, I felt like such a bride! (tears are welling up in my eyes as I think about the feeling now)...so then I asked if they would take my unaltered dress back and YES they would!!! Store credit toward the new dress...I had to bring my dress back the next morning....needless to say I could not sleep at all thinking of this dress!!! Ahhhhh!!! So the next morning I grabbed my dress and my future MIL and we headed to the store...as soon as that Vera gown was on me I was so happy again...since it was New Years EVe they actually had noise makers and all that jazz and made a huge deal of it being "the dress"...I have to say that helped seal the deal! Then the seamstress took me to the back room so she could pin my dress for the bustle and I was surrounded by mirrors...wow! That was it...the tears started flowing!!! I felt so beautiful and happy in this dress! So girls....I FOUND THE ONE!!!! I wish I could post pics to show you...I paid a lot more than I wanted...about $900 more than the other dress, but it is worth every penny! If anyone has dress doubt, go look for that dress that makes you feel like a bride!!!!
  7. Yes I have the dress at my future MIL's house...I have tried it on 3 times and just am not feeling it...I'm going to try it on for my best friend tomorrow...so we will see what the reaction is then....I'll keep you updated!! (deep down I think I may go try a few more dresses on just to see.....)
  8. Thank you so much ladies for all your input...I will for sure keep you all updated on what I decide to do!! And when I can post pics... I'll get those dress pics up!!
  9. Thank you so much ladies!! I can't post pictures yet unfortunately. The biggest problem is I found the dress I really wanted online before I went dress shopping but it ended up being one that you can only buy from overseas. I wasn't able to find anything like it here....very disappointing. Then I started watching EVERY SINGLE Say Yes to the Dress show....and that just kept putting the doubt in my mind...and the nights my fiancé would sit and watch with me he'd point out dresses he liked and that even further made me want to change my dress. I think I'm going to go try more on. Maybe I'll find "the one" or maybe it will confirm that my dress IS "the one"!!
  10. So my wedding is officially 5 months away and for the past few months I have really been having dress doubt. My dress was the 1st thing I bought, literally about 2 months after we got engaged, and that was almost a year ago...I look around at other dresses and see some that I like, but I just don't have anyone to take with me to go see other dresses right now. My best friend, who is my MOH lives in another state....I'm also worried cause my FI's mother bought my dress and I don't want to hurt her feelings if I decide to take it back. And then you have the problem of, will the dress store take it back?? All these things are going through my head and the wedding is fast approaching. Don't get me wrong, my dress is gorgeous! Flowy chiffon, beautiful beading that will glimmer in the sun on the beach...but it's just not what I pictured myself in on my wedding day. Girls what should I do? Should I go try on other dresses? Or just stick with mine and realize later that this might just be wedding jitters?? HELP!
  11. Melissa, Thank you so much for posting about the bouquet! I have been looking into bouquets online but was hesitant to purchase one in case it came out looking very "fake"...I can't see your actual bouquet because I don't have privilages yet (I have to stop being a lurker! LOL) but I went on wedideas.com website and found a bouquet I fell in love with and I think I'm going to buy. How much was yours? Did you purchase any others for the bridal party? Or boutinneers? Thanks again for the post!!
  12. I feel the same way now that I saw it I think I'm going to bring my own sand ceremony vase and sand Thank you for posting the pic!!
  13. It is definitely good to know...and I am trying very hard to figure out if it's something I Want to do or just go with the Trash The Dress session after the wedding....the decision is becoming a hard one to make!!!!
  14. I didn't realize you could do that! Beaches doesn't have a problem with that Krys?
  15. I would love to know the same questions since we are also doing a sand ceremony with my son.
  16. We picked the 3pm because I wanted it later in the day...do pictures right after and then have the reception around 5. This way it was dinner time...and after the reception probably go to one of the bars or the nightclub
