  1. Marlena, Thanks for the info. I too want my guests cost to be as minimal as possible. If you don't mind me asking how much are your guests paying and how long are they staying? I was wanting my guests to not have to pay more than $1000 for a 4 night vacation in Jamaica. So if my FI and I stay at the Suites then we would be having a Suites wedding? And if we stayed at the Beach resort then it would be called the Iberostar Beach wedding? What if we stay at the Suites but most of our guests stay at the Beach, would we have to have a "Beach" wedding in order for our guests to attend? Sorry so many questions but I'm just still a little confused about the difference :-) Thanks, Jenni
  2. eholt, looks like your wedding is fast approaching! Hope you have a wonderful vacation and wedding. Will you be doing a review when you return? Congrats and best wishes! Jenni
  3. Hi ladies, Can anyone tell me the difference in having the wedding at the Grand, Suites, or the beach. I have been looking at the beach wedding package that they sent me because I wanted the guest's cost to be as minimal as possible but I do not know anything about the others. Is there a price difference? Can I have the "grande" wedding package if we stay at the Grande? Do the packages include different things? Any info would be helpful! Thanks ladies! Jenni
  4. Thanks jszy10! I did try the 'break down' strategy already and that didn't work! LOL. But his good friend is the one who has offered to take our engagement pics and tonight he was over at her house and she asked him about it. He said that he's not against it, just not this month! Yay! So you're saying there is hope!!!! We'll try next month I guess :-) Wow, that's awesome that you won a shoot though, I never win anything!
  5. Congrats redginger! Is it everything us noob's could imagine? ;-)
  6. So my FI told me a couple wks ago that he refuses to do engagement pics because he thinks they are pointless. Well I begged him and pleaded! He still refuses and after I thought about it more I realize that he does have a point, but I just want these pretty pictures. We do we have many nice pictures of us and I think he just doesn't like posing and doing weird things for the pics. But I'm not giving up. I keep hinting to him and I won't lose hope! :-) but I have to realize that I can't make him do anything and guys will do whatever they want. But tonight he did randomly ask me what I thought of a resort that his mom and I are considering booking for our destination wedding. That was nice! Makes me appreciate when he does get involved.
  7. I don't mind seeing fun drunk pictures of you guests having a good time! That's what our people will probably look like! :-)
  8. Good luck to you all! I am considering having my wedding at the IRHB. Please update this site with any positive or negative comments about all of your experiences @ this resort. ! obviously know that its not on your top to do list but I know all of us future brides would very much appreciate it, when you do have time! :-) Also it sounds like some are having wedding coordinator issues so I'm curious and hopeful it all works out the best for you brides! Good luck and I'm excited to hear about all your beautiful weddings!!!! :-)
  9. My goal is to be able to open some of the helpful attachments that people post and I click on them and it says I don't have access! Guess I need to start posting more....:-)
  10. Wow! You are great at this destination planning stuff! Especailly the DIY designs! You have many great ideas, thanks for sharing!
  11. Thank you ladies, that does help and explain :-)
  12. ugh! That 150 will be the death of me! But I'll keep active to increase my #'s! :-) Thanks
  13. How can you find where your points are? Not sure what mine are but I'm sure its low cause I'm a noob
  14. So I found a thread that I thought would help me understand the 150 post requirement and wanted to post on there but it is locked. Why is this?
  15. Can any of the brides that have gotten married here share their experience? It doesn't seem to be much opinions/advice/planning tips etc on this resort. I am considering this resort but love to hear others opinions of their experience. Thanks and happy wedding planning
  16. I can't find it either. What is it under. Thank you
  17. Hi Natalie2012, May I ask what kind of rate you got for that resort? All you organized April 2012 brides are making me look bad. We don't have our's booked yet.....ugh! Oh well it will happend....eventually ;-)
  18. Thank you deannamarie85! I am excited to hear all about your wedding! I bet you can hardly wait!!!!? :-)
  19. meeshie77 and all the other wonderful brides posting, Thank you to all who have replied, all very great advise and it is truly helping me get further in this process. Hopefully soon we will have decided on the resort and all this pressure can be relieved. Our Desires: Keep costs low for our guests (approx $900-1200 either for 4 nights or more) AI resort with great entertainment, food and strong drinks! ;-) (we kinda like to party) Child friendly (hopefully all my nieces and nephews will be able to make it?) Great pool and beach (swim up bar, ideally an infinity pool since I have never been to one) Wedding on the beach with cost low such as everything for less than$ 4000 including dinner for approx 30 guests.(is that even possible?) It would be nice to be close to other entertainment outside of the resort if ppl want to leave in search of adventures (such as those caves ppl jump off, a night club possibly, shopping, nature excursion). Pretty organized WP from the resort, don't need perfection but polite and provides what we pay for. We have a TA, its my FI's mother. I think she is a little newer to it but of course she is very friendly and more than willing to go the extra mile. I think cause I will be her daughter in law :-) I have looked into the Iberostar beach but it seems kinda pricey when you add everything that I would want up? I like the Riu chains in Jamaica and they seem to have nice wedding packages. Negril, Ochos Rios, or Montego Bay....? Any suggestions of which is the best? We are coming from the United States: Mpls (Minnesota) and ATL (Georgia) Also I'm wondering if most April 2012 brides have the resort booked already? All you great organizers and planners are making me look bad ;-) No but seriously, should I be worried I don't have it decided by now? Again, thanks for all your comments/suggestion and kind words! Its great to have other brides in the same boat!
  20. Hi Wedyjd, Thanks for the advice. Especially about where to find more reviews on resorts. I wouldn't have known to look there. Also, I think I will take that advice about picking my top 4-6 and writing out all the pros and cons. Thanks everyone!
  21. Wow Baileybutton, I like the idea of a spreadsheet, but that seems like so much work. But I'm probably doing all that work already just not writing it down in an organized fashion like you- Gd idea! I will have to try to start being more organized about my search :-) Good luck finding a resort! This stuff is more intense than I first expected, but its more fun than my school work that I should be doing right now! ;-)
  22. Thanks Starrysims, I appreciate everyone's opinion and the more I can get the better. I checked out Iberostar and it looks beautiful. I sent them an email enquiring more about their costs. I haven't heard back from them yet, but I am excited to hear what they offer and their cost. I tried finding their pricing on their site but all I could find was to email them. Did I miss something? Do you have any of that info that you could post, cause I hear that it sometimes can take a few days to get back to brides. Oh and is the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach resort right by the other 2? (The Iberostar Rose Hall Suite and the Iberostar Grand Hall Suites)
  23. Hi fellow Jamaica brides User Name: Jamaica2012 Name: Jenni and James Location: Jamaica (unsure of resort yet) Wedding: April 2012 in JA: ? My name is Jenni and my fiance's name is James. We officially decided we want a destination wedding within the last couple months and are most interested in Jamaica. But all the details are still up in the air, so I am on this site to get some insights and help me decide on a resort. I am very excited about a destination wedding but I was hoping it would be less stressful but I have a feeling that once we find our resort my stress level will decrease significantly! Thanks for all the tips and advice in advance. Jenni
