  1. Hi DT brides! I just wanted to check in as we are now back from our wedding! It was incredible and rest assured you have nothing to worry about, you are in good hands! Although our photographers, Photos in Cancun have not edited our photos yet, they handed us 2 CDs with over 1600 photos to go through and choose 250 for them to edit! I think that Derek and Lorena did such a great job that I wanted to share of my favorite ones with you. I will definitely post more once they are edited and hopefully on my planning thread I plan to finish soon! The one recommendation I have to future DT brides, that I wish I would have done is scout out the resort and choose a few spots where I really wanted photos. Although this was their first time at this resort, they did pick some nice spots. I just wish we would have had more time before the sun had set. The buildings and grounds are so beautiful I wish we could have had more time to take photos in the stairwells, etc. Overall, we are more then happy with our photos!!
  2. Hi Ladies, Funny how weddings bring drama out in families. Our drama happened before the wedding in Mexico. Sadly I had no family there, but close friends and new in laws! We had a great time! Our outside photographer took over 1600 photos so we are still narrowing it down to 250 that the photographer is going to edit. Here are some of the photographs before editing!
  3. Trista, I just wanted to tell you that you have NOTHING to worry about! We were married at DT last Wednesday and we had an amazing day!! We are scheduled to fly home tomorrow...sad:( The weather for next week looks to be amazing so you should have a great wedding day and week! Just a few tips regarding the rooms. When we checked in we had a room in the 7000s building. Nice enough room but there was a bit of a smell from the bathroom. Some of the public washrooms had this too. We had family staying in the 2000s rooms which is in the older part of the resort. If you can make sure that you and your guests are not in this area, it would be best. It is far from everything and one guest had issues with her toilet folding, patio door breaking. The food is amazing!!!! The great thing is that you don't need reservations for the restaurants. Now that the hoilday season is over, it is not as busy so you wait shouldn't be too bad. We have been going to the restaurants around 7 and they give you a buzzer if it is a longer wait. You can go get a drink at the Sugar Reef bar while you wait. We changed rooms for a free upgrade to the 6000 building which is overlooking the ocean, amazing! It is worth asking for an upgrade. We did it after our wedding as we checked in late and wanted to see what our room was like. One tip for your wedding, if you have your own decorations make sure they get them back to you the day after the wedding. I still have not received all of my real touch flowers for our wedding cake that I brought, I think the waiter who took some off our cake may have thrown them out thinking they were real. The rest of the decor took two days to get back. All in all we were very happy with our stay and wedding. I will post a full review in a few weeks. Enjoy your time and day!!
  4. Sorry, the below reply to your email was from me, on the FI's computer and logged him in for some reason.... Safe travels Amjohnson
  5. So Ladies, This will be my last post pre wedding as we fly out in a few hours! Happy New Year! Our legal ceremony with family was a gong show, sadly. I am packed put printing off a few things as we speak. Looking forward to fun, sun and a wedding on the beach with close friends and my FI or now husband's family! See you in a couple weeks! It will be weird to not be on hear so much! Take Care!
  6. JandG, I really am sorry to hear about your dad. It seems we are having similar disappointments. I could really your advice and that of other brides after the extremely disappointing day I had today. Earlier today was our legal ceremony and after thinking long and hard we asked my dad for his wife not to come to this ceremony. She has been hostile toward my sister and I since her and my father got engaged. Needless to say my father hasn't handled things the way he should have. I knew there was a chance he wouldn't show up but to make it worse, he emailed my sister to involve her. My bridesmaid-best friend and I were supposed to go to her house to get our make up done and dressed, she asked us not to come as she was too upset. Thanks to the kindness of my makeup artist, we got ready at her house! My sister also backed out of our small dinner tonight after the reception. It was really upsetting as we organized the dinner and ceremony to include my nephews and my brother as they aren't coming to Mexico. Then after our ceremony, my brother and his fiancee backed out of dinner too. So my now husband , my best friend and I had a small wedding dinner for three. So yes my father is coming to Mexico but now we have to decide how to tell them they aren't participating in anything. And my best friend is supposed to share a room with my sister. We leave in two days, my father flies out tomorrow and we are beside ourselves on how to handle this. The good news is that my husband's family from Scotland will be there. Sadly for now, I have to sever ties with my family. lt and painful on a day that should have been a happy occasion. You ladies usually have words of wisdom. Any comforting thoughts or words would be appreciated.
  7. Your dress is beautiful! Congratulations! I have decided at the last minute to get a bustle to my dress! Only a week til our wedding!
  8. Have you checked out Photos in Cancun? It is a team of two photographers, not sure if they are a couple but their names are Derek and Lorena. They have quite a few great reviews on here and get back to you right away. We are paying 1000$ for 250 edited photos plus he gives you the entire CD of photos the next day. We are getting married Jan 4th so as soon as I have any photos, I will post them!!
  9. Here are some more photos of my passport brochure. I used different computers and photo devices to take photos, I am losing track of what I took with which device!lol
  10. Hi Redginger, It really wasn't too bad. The most work was formatting the pages by number in the right order so that they were back to back when you printed. I then put the printed booklets on top of the shimmer cardstock and left about .5 inches around. I got a corner punch at Walmart for 5$! The doc I posted isn't my final formatted copy. I will try and get my FI to send it to me from the other computer. I am also going to post more photos of the final invitations. I hope this helps!
  11. No I got them from a local store. But they have a web site. http://www.thepapertree.ca/premiere.htm
  12. I also ordered my flowers from Judy. I posted photos a few pages back. She is pretty quick once you place your order. I emailed back and forth with her for a week to choose the flowers. It is about a month to get your flowers. She sends you an approval picture for you to approve then she sends them out. I got mine the other day. She even sprays them with a light fragrance that smells like real flowers! The only issue with my order is that I ordered loose orchids and roses. I got the loose orchids but the roses turned out to be on stems. I guess that is how she sells them. I ordered the loose flowers for my wedding cake. So now I am going to have to get my sister to help me cut them roses so we can use them on our cake...not a big deal. Just a small detail I wanted to share with other brides. Her work is amazing though and my bouquet and the others look nicer in person! You won't be disappointed.
  13. Thank you everyone for the compliments! MJKH, I love the glamour of the first dress but the second dress is more comfortable. But I am still thinking of taking the ivory dress to Mexico for the dinner reception. Is that crazy? It is more form fitting and you need to be careful when you sit. If I don't take it with us, then I likely will have one dress to wear for our at home reception to wear that isn't dirty. JandG, We are having our civil ceremony at a place called the Muttart Conservatory, they are pyramid shaped buildings with plants. We are getting married in the Seasonal pyramid with pointsettias. We are then going to a posh restaurant. I wasn't going to wear it to dinner, mainly because I was worried about getting it dirty..lol..Oh well I might wear a bib! The ivory dress is by Enzoani and the second one is by Galina.
  14. Hi Chelsea, Do you mind sending me an invitation too? I am still waiting for my invite I requested last week. Thanks!
  15. So I finally got to try both of my dresses on and have photos taken! Less then 2 weeks until our civil ceremony here, the ivory dress will be worn for that. I am taking the white dress with floral appliques to Mexico. I was going to take both but now I think it may be more of a pain. Thoughts? Now the only question is do I wear my hair differently for the civil and beach ceremonies with different dresses? I had planned on wearing my hair up in a loose chignon to one side with my hair flower in Mexico, but not sure if the ivory dress would look okay with hair down, it has a low back.
  16. I should have mentioned that a have a lot of Wedding Survival Kit and Snack Pack cards left over that I would like to sell, would rather sell locally as it isn't worth paying for shipping. PM me if you are interested.
  17. I have created a DIY passport pre travel brochure thread so I could share my documents and photos. I need to update the template I have on there as it isn't the final copy, sorry. I was working on a few different computers! I hope some future brides can make use of it.
  18. Thanks ladies, As for the cost of everything not sure, need to add it up. I got the Wedding survival kit and snack pack post cards from Vista Print and I have quite a few left over. I see a couple brides are in the Edmonton area. I haven't had time to post them for sale put would like them to go to good use and not into the recycle bin!
  19. Ladies, I need to start by thanking all of the past brides that helped me put together my passport pre travel brochure. I would like to share my project as I know there weren't any passport pre travel brochures out there when I was looking for ideas. I started out by using Aylee's bits free passport template. I also got a lot of ideas and information from other brides' brochures and passports ideas. I have included photos of the finished product and the initial document. I am sorry, I can't seem to find my final printable version but I would be glad to help you figure out how to print it. Formatting the pages is the most important part, numbering them is a must!! My FI is the IT pro so he formatted everything then I had to move pages around and number them correctly so I could print the pages back to back. I used metallic ivory cardstock for the cover. modified passport AM.doc
  20. Thanks belle dame, parles-tu le francais? lol I am willing to share my template, I used the free passport template from aylee's bits but used some info I got from other brides' pre travel brochures. We have a copy too which is nice as my FI put lots of useful info in it, even a couple maps, list of the resort restaurants, and local attractions.
  21. Okay Ladies, So I am officially done my Oot bags and I have started to hand them out! We are giving all but two of them before we leave so we won't have much to take with us. Here is what they look like. We also did pre travel passports, a team effort between my fiance and I. I hope our guests appreciate them. The photo below is one of my BM's bags. I gave them each two pashminas, a red one to go with their dresses and a white/cream one. The socks have little grips on them as the resort rooms are supposed to get cold at night and slippery.
  22. Thank you ladies for your nice words about my flowers. Working with Judy was great and I plan on recommending her to anyone I can. So I have attached two packing checklists I found on the Knot. I don't think I could have made a better one on my own. The second one is a honeymoon checklist but I thought I would include it as it has a few different items. I know some brides are taking a honeymoon later on. I hope you find this checklists helpful! With Christmas coming I have been starting to feel overwhelmed! Good thing our Christmas celebrations is low key this year. How many more days? I think we are at 19 days today! packlist.pdf Packing.docx
  23. We are doing the same as you Manda but I am buying the maracas down there...hopefully it won't be to hard to get them. We are 5 mins away from Tulum so I want to make a quick trip in.
  24. Hi Ladies, I posted my flowers on another thread but thought I would share my final photos with you as I am super happy with them. They come from a Canadian vendor, Bloom Bridal in Toronto who I would highly recommend. Let me know what you think. I got her to make the BM bouquets a bit larger and added a starfish to my bouquet.
