  1. Hi Canadian Brides, So it has been almost three months since our wedding in Mexico and we received our edited photos from our photographer last week. It took us longer only because he took over 1600 photos for us to choose from and we took over a month to send our choices in. I have shared my favorite ones. For future brides in the Mayan Riviera area or even for Puerto Vallarta, I highly recommend Derek and Lorena from Photos in Cancun. My only recommendations would be that if you have specific poses that you want them to take, ask them at the beginning. They work amazingly as a team! Both of them take photos at the same time but from different angles. They took such natural looking photos and as one asked us to pose, the other was also taking photos. I would have liked a few :"staged photos" but I still LOVE our photos.
  2. HI WPGBride, Funny thing, the Taylor Swift photo you have shown is the exact one I showed to my hairstylist at Dreams Tulum. I was very happy with my hair. I wore a hairflower that I made. The one photo you have with the veil is beautiful. I almost got one but after hearing how windy it was going to be, I didn't. Either way I think your hair will be gorgeous. I have attached a photo of my hair. Cheers!
  3. I was convinced that I wanted to wear my pretty teal pumps down the aisle so we got the aisle runner that was included in our wedding package. The truth is, once the wedding was over, they were off and I walked around in bare feet then put on more comfy and shorter pump sandals for the reception. I am glad I got my pretty shoes for photos though!
  4. Hi Bride81, We got married at 3:30pm and I think it was a good time. Our photographer had asked us if we could change our wedding to 3:30 from 4:00pm so we could get more daylight for photos. That was the best decision we made. Given that you are getting married in May, you will likely have more daylight then we did. The only thing I would change would be to make our reception 30 mins later. Ours started at 5pm. We got most of our photos done but I felt like we were rushing a bit also because the sun was setting. I would check exactly when the sun sets and maybe even think about getting married at 3pm and having your cocktail hour at 5:00pm. Although our photographer was from outside the resort, he didn't charge us by the hour. They ended up staying til halfway through our reception. I hope this helps you decide what you want to do. Good luck!
  5. I had a colleague bring in a photo book she made of her daughter's best friend's wedding. It was really nice and she said it was easy to put together. I have two Photobook Canada groupons I bought in Sept but I am a little disappointed in their selection of background choices now that I am trying to put my book together. I may consider selling my groupons.... Good luck with Piccaboo
  6. Hi Taegan, I am pretty sure that they don't have any weddings on Sundays. I think it is the only day that the wedding coordinators get off. But email and double check. I know there weren't any on the two sundays that we were there.
  7. Amazing photos Avens, It took us almost three weeks to pick our 150 to get edited and our photographer emailed me last week to say that we will have them shortly. Can't wait!!
  8. Krysta, I thought I would suggest the songs we used. I didn't want to Colbie Caillat songs but Bubbly is a fun song that I knew would be easy for me to walk down the aisle...none of my family were there so I didn't want a serious song. As Bright as the Sun was the one we walked out on and it was a fun one too, and it was perfect as the sun was shining! I am sure you know the song but it is a feel good song and up beat.
  9. Hi Ladies, So I am newly married, just over a month but I just found out I won't even be with my hubby for our first Valentine's day as a married couple! He was supposed to come home late tomorrow night from a business trip but now they have asked him to stay on til Friday! Oh well, we are going away for our long weekend. So what I did was I sent him an edible arrangement, box of chocolate dipped apples and strawberries with different toppings on them. Yummy but a bit nutritious. Romantic enough? He is pretty romantic so I am sure he has something planned.
  10. Amazing Job Jenn! It is hard to believe your day is soon! It doesn't seem that long ago that we had all just started planning! I have been back a month from our wedding and need to get my planning thread, yikes! Yours is great!
  11. Hi Acornk, Try amazon.com. I was looking for teal shoes and had a hard time until someone on here recommended that site. You can put in the color , style and heel height and it searches for you. I ordered mine from them and have them I think in less than a week! Good luck!
  12. Beautiful Enzoani ivory wedding dress with satin, organza and lace applique, size 10, fits smaller as I am a street size 8. I bought it as a sample dress so it has been barely worn. I have had the straps shortened and any loose beading fixed. It is a beautiful dress. I would love someone else to get use out of it.
  13. Hi Ladies, So my wedding is now past but when I am out shopping, I still catch myself say, hey that would be a great thing for OOT bags!! So I was at Michael's this week and in their bins by the checkout, they have different starfish and sand dollar items. Some were note cards, note pads, I think there may have been some playing cards too. They also had wooden starfish and shell shapes that you could paint and use for place cards. Anyhow, check it out!! A-M
  14. I can completely relate. I still go on here for some "fun"....lol. I need to start posting some items for sale. I still catch myself seeing lots of Oot bag items when out shopping.
  15. Mya, your photos are beautiful! You looked amazing. Your resort looked beautiful also. I loved your dress. Enjoy your honeymoon!
  16. Hi Jaimee, So I haven't yet researched it either but need to. If both of your last names go well together, you could keep both maybe? As my maiden name and husband's last name both end in son, it would be really cheesy for me to hyphenate mine. I am having a hard time deciding if I want to change all of my documents. It is weird signing a new last name. Let me know what you decide to do and if you find out exactly how the process works here in Alberta. Take Care!
  17. Hi Taegan, We just got married a few weeks ago and although our reception was supposed to be outside by one of the pools and we were just going to dance on the ground or concrete. It was really windy so we had to have it inside. I do know some weddings have had their dance right in the sand. When we were at DT, there were a couple weddings on the beach that had the rented dance floor. But we were like you and couldn't justify the cost. Just keep in mind that it can be windy at night, it will likely be better in May. Depending how many guests you have, you might be more sheltered by the Dolphin Pool. If we would have had more guests, I would loved to have had our reception at the Seaside grill....you would have to rent the entire restaurant but if you had about 30 guests, you could still dance inside the restaurant. I would recommend reading a few of the DT Wedding Reviews to see what others said. Good luck!
  18. Avens, Gorgeous photos! I look forward to seeing your pro shots too!
  19. Beautiful photos Amanda! You got married just down the beach from us and one day after. It looks like you had an amazing day! I can't wait for our photographer to add some of our photos on his blog. We are still picking the 250 photos we get edited in our package. Don't you wish you were back there now? This weather, =at least in the west is making me want to take another hot vacation SOON!!
  20. I agree! I am from Alberta but I lived just outside of Toronto for a few years when I was longer. There is something to be said about mildly yet cloudier winters. Which is why we are seriously looking at moving to Ottawa!
  21. Hi Ladies, So we got back last week from our wedding! Sadly here in Alberta it has been -40 degrees with the wind chill...crazy! Our wedding was amazing! We were a bit worried the day of the wedding when I woke up in pain...I had to eventually start antibiotics for an infection. The sky cleared and the sun was shining for our ceremony. Our photographers from outside the resort, Photos in Cancun took over 1600 photos and they gave us the cd's that night!! We now are narrowing it down to 250 that they will edit for us! We also got 50 other prints and a CD from the resort photographer. Below are a few of my favorite photos. I will still be on here likely trying to sell some wedding things. I just wanted to thank all of my fellow Canadian brides for all of your support, ideas and just your thoughts throughout the last year or so. I hope all of you upcoming brides have an incredible day, week and honeymoon. Take as many personal photos as you can so you can look back and remember the fun moments you had with friends, family and of course, each other! A-M
