I have looked at two Homesenses and Winners stores in Edmonton here and the only starfish they had were like you said in the scented potpourri bags. I think Michael's is your best bet without having to order online and paying shipping. I don't need enough to make it worth while as we aren't having that many guests but I do want to use them for place names?...you know what I mean on the dinner table and for decor. Does anyone have any mini colored starfish? I really want some to add to my centerpieces and to decorate the table but really don't need to place an order for anything else.....May have to suck it up and pay.

Hi Future DT brides, I thought I would post these Pdfs that I got from Natalia in regards to flowers. I don't think they send this out until 2-3 months before the wedding...I am already rethinking what I am going to do for my bouquet...We are planning to do silks for the bridesmaids. For those of you thinking of using Angel's Accents, I was sad to see on her web site that she has no availability for orders and shipping until Feb 2012. So if you are a 2012 bride and are thinking of doing real touch flowers, she has received amazing reviews from past brides but I would order ASAP. DREAMS FLOWER PACKAGES.pdf EXTRA FLOWER OPTIONS.pdf

Hi Coco, I would wait but if you TA is taking too long, you might want to shop around. We went to three different travel agents and the one who was on the ball got our prices and everything in less then 2 days! She is the one that got our business. You want to make sure the resort price is right for you and check with different vacation companies...i.e. Air Canada Vacations, West Jet Vacations.. Hope that helps.

I really like yours and I too would prefer using fake ones. Can you tell me where you got yours? I am prepared or order them. Thanks!

Hey Jennifer, I saw your post and thought I would comment. Unless I got wrong info, I thought the same...get someone from the States to ship to you but..U.S. Wildlife doesn't allow them to leave the country. So you would have to declare them to be something else...yikes! I know...sucks..can't order from u.s. online either...I read this all on threads from past brides. Michaels does have them...pricey I know but if you use your 40% off coupon, a bag isn't too bad.

Bridesmaid gifts maybe? Or for yourself! If you have not discovered Foxy jewelry..well you will have to now! This is a nice line of jewelry that is carried in many hip and smaller shops but I found it at Shoppers Drug Mart (Gallery stores)...the ones with jewelry, pashminas, watches..etc I was in a swim shop today and they carried the Foxy line too. They had really cute starfish necklaces...I thought the starfish were decorative so I asked about them. See photos below. I checked out their website and YES you can order to Canada...didn't calculate cost yet. So take a look either for your bridesmaids or yourself! They also have earrings...sadly not matching for starfish or sand dollar necklaces but there are a few other cute sets. http://www.foxyoriginals.com/bytypeprodlist.asp?tid=1&alt=Necklaces

Hi Again., Since I can't sleep and am up with a heating pad on my back, I thought I would do some searching for starfish. Here is the deal...I read threads from other brides and you will have issues ordering starfish from any American website as U.S. Wildlife will stop the order. I searched for Canadian suppliers online...no luck. So my thinking is Michael's is your best bet..they have their 40% off one single item this week so you could get the bag (It is actually Starfish garland) for 24$ and that would bring you to about 14$ not bad...and you can go back or visit another store. I am also going to look for silver decorative ones...fyi the Tin Box stores do carry them...I think 2$ each...a bit steep so I am thinking online may have a better deal. Let me know if you have luck anywhere else. I am going to call and check Crafts Canada...think they have them in several cities...Going to call and make sure they are still open in Edmonton as it has been years since I have been there.

Hi Away We Go, Congratulations and Welcome! I was at Michaels today and I too want star fish, I planned on searching online tonight for a canadian site....I will let you know what I find. If you find anything, do you mind sharing too? Thanks and happy planning! This thread and the ladies on here are amazing and unfortunately making me spend more money than I should be spending!

Glad you found one spool...There were five or six of that exact kind at my Michaels in Edmonton. Coming to Edmonton soon?

Be prepared to go through all of the ribbon in the bin! it took me over five mins to find 7 reels of the ribbon...lol...pretty sure I got it all! If I don't need all of them, I could sell it to a lucky bride! One tip to help you...the ribbon with writing on it has yellow cardboard...so sift through all of the reels of ribbon and look for the yellow ones...The pink writing isn't Eat drink and be married but still cute! Good luck! Let me know how you make out!

Hi Ladies, So I think I am going to ban myself from shopping for a bit! I went to a swim shop to try on bikinis and found the cutest 7 in one dress that is the perfect bridesmaid dress!! Only problem, we bought our bridesmaid dresses in a different color...boo...so now I am going to get the girls to try it on then try and see if we can still return them. Cross your fingers...if not I guess we will have to keep the dresses but I will likely keep the dress for me for Mexico! So I decided to post a photo of the ribbon I found in the 1$ bin at Michaels. I saw the eat, drink be married on another bride's thread and loved it. FIY if any of you ladies are having brown or pink or purple as your wedding colors, there was other ribbon in the bin with nice sayings like We just tied the knot...Celebrate... Worth checking it out! I also included Christmas decorations...yes...that is right from Michaels but I am planning on using them to make a centerpiece in a vase with sand and sea shells. They had a lot of different colors. I will post a photo of my end result when I am done. There done for today!

Hi Jennyi, Congratulations! Although we booked our date a few months ago, we did exactly what you did. We sent out an invitation email style and set up our wedding web site with info about the resort and referred out guests to refer to that. What we are going to do now is, we don't have a lot of guests 12-15 so we are ordering invitations online that we are putting together with pocket folders. We are going to insert info about everyone's arrivals, transportation to hotel from airport and info about our welcome breakfast as we arrive late at night. I am also including 2 personalized clear luggage tags in each invitation. The invitations aren't costing much. But if you are having 20-30 guests, I would just send an information brochure, there are lots of templates on here in the DIY section. Good luck! Remember, the resort will take care of most of the details, try not to plan too much...that's why most of us brides chose a destination wedding in the first place, right?

Lol...I seem to gravitate to any store that I think may have deals for oot bags or other stuff for the wedding. I went to Home Sense and was going to buy neat Emergency Chocolate chocolate bars..with the first aid symbol on them for 1.50$ each...but I refrained...put them down!!!lol I decided that bringing Chocolate to a hot climate..not the best idea. I already bought M and M's in containers. I did however found a cute starfish puncher fro 3$, they have frogs and a few other animals. If anyone wants to put plastic tumblers in their oot bags, they are on sale everywhere...but 5.00 or 5.99 at HomeSense and Winners. Anyhow, there you go...haven't given in to the swim bags. But Jennifer, I am heading to Iron Mills this weekend so watch out...lol...do you know of any good finds there?

Disregard the last message..another blonde moment...geez...I saw you posted what it said in another post...lol..time to go back to work I think!!

Hi Bondgirl, I LOVE your post cards! I hope you don't mind, I think I am going to do the same as you. What does the sentence under your names and date say? Thanks!
-
Thanks Jen! For the key holders, you did just regular sized business cards then? Those ladies that did labels or stickers, did you just put in your own photos or monogram?

Okay Ladies, I know a lot of you Canadian brides have been talking about Vistaprint and I am wondering exactly what you are making with their services? I am not sure if we should start just Vistaprint.ca thread, but I would love ideas and tips of how to use it to help make my DIY jobs easier and to save some money!! I guess I am a visual person and may need to see some photos of things you have made through Vista. I know a few brides had used them for their welcome booklet covers and pages etc. Help? Thanks!

Hi past DT brides, I am wanting to put together my Welcome Package for my guests, welcome letter, with info, map of resort..etc. I got some great templates off here from other brides. But I am hoping that some of you DT brides may have specific info on the resort that you could share with me, or maybe you already formatted a copy of the map, or write up about the resort. I don't mind doing some searching, but any help or guidance would be great. Thanks!

Hi Beachbum, Yes, I agree. I got two rolls of the red as it is the perfect red. Our blue is a turquoise blue from my FI's kilt so I am finding it hard to get tulle in that color. I think I will get some organza fabric from Fabricland. I might use the red tulle on the chairs or on the table. Did you order your Avon online? I may check it out. I got Aloe gel at Walmart but I think I read about there being flip flop playing cards from avon?

Hi Veronica, I checked out your wedding photos and your day was incredible! Are you able to point me in the right direction for Angel's contact information, does she have a website? Did you give her photos of exactly what you wanted for the table centerpieces? I saw you had your reception at the dolphin pool. Did you like that location? Natalia just emailed me back and said that the pool terrace is available for our reception, we had originally thought we would have it at the Wine Cellar. But after seeing photos of your photos and others, we decided we wanted it outside. I guess our choices are the dolphin pool terrace or the relaxation pool terrace. Just was curious what your thoughts were since you have been there and had your reception outside. Thanks!
