  1. Leah & Shannon! I can't wait! The Grand isn't going to know what hit them! It will be a blast! I'm still not sure if all my guests are staying at the Suites or the Grand which is frustrating but we are trying to figure everything out ASAP. How many people do guys think will be coming for your wedding? We had about 60 people RSVP so far. We are doing a ceremony on the beach and a private reception either at Port Maria or right on the beach. Shannon - where are you doing your welcome party at? I'm not sure if we're doing a welcome party yet but we might just do a Welcome Catamaran Cruise on Thursday also and then just a rehearsal dinner on Friday. Does anyone know for sure when the Beach Party is held at the Grand? I thought it was Sunday nights but I could be wrong. Can't wait to meet you girls! Susan
  2. Congrats Leah! I'm the day before. It's going to be an awesome wedding weekend at the Grand!! Can't wait! Good luck planning : )
  3. Hi Leah, I am not aware of this policy. I signed up for the free wedding package also and it says you only need 5 rooms booked at the Grand for 3 + nights OR 1 oceanfront room booked for 7+ nights to take advantage of the free wedding package so we are just doing the 1 oceanfront room and might have everyone else stay at the Suites. Of course, they do charge $50 per person for those staying at the other Iberostar properties just to come to the Grand for the wedding but other than that, I don't see how they can possibly force you to have 80% of your guests stay at the Grand if it's not in any of the policies.
  4. Those are really good quotes! I was quoted $220 pp per night for the Grand so I'm also curious to know who your TA is and how she got such good rates! Thanks!
  5. Hi Leah! Just so you know - I was in the same boat as you after my fiance and I did a site visit and checked out both the Suites and the Grand. We already have our wedding date and the free wedding package set at the Grand for June 9, 2012 and after visiting the Suites, we were considering moving our wedding there since it seemed like more of a "fun/party" resort than the Grand, but the WC at the Suites said all of the dates were already taken for June 2012 so we have to keep our date at the Grand. I am actually happy we are staying with the Grand now because I think the wedding site is a lot better and more private than the Suites. Also like you said, I also think it is cheaper if you are getting the free wedding package. Just my opinion - but I hope that helps! Also, if you are planning for June 2012, you should probably try to secure your date ASAP because I think they fill up fast! Best of luck! Susan
  6. The beach party was at night...right on the beach in front of the pool at the Beach resort. They had drinks and a DJ and the star friends were there too. I believe it started around 9 and was over around 11. There wasn't a bonfire. The beach bbq was during the day and it happened a few times throughout the week but I can't exactly remember which days. Hope that helps! Susan
  7. Hey Shannon! I actually e-mailed Janielle a few times about some of these items since they weren't included in the free wedding package and here is her responses to my e-mail: -arrangements for marriage license and official certificate. This is included -wedding personalization and personalization of wedding coordinator. US$ 400.00 -wedding dress pressing service. Roughly US$50.00 -decoration of wedding venue. This is dependent based on the type of décor you want and whether of not you are using a huppa or arch. -sound system with microphone and CD music for ceremony. US$ 150.00 We only play the traditional bridal march if you need something different please take your own CD 1. How big is the wedding cake included in the free wedding package? If it is small, how much would it cost for a larger cake for 50 people? We will provide a cake for all 50 persons. 2. I want to bring an outside vendor to drop off flowers. Would a vendor fee apply if they are only dropping off? As long as they come to the lobby give the flowers to me then no fee applies however they will need to set anything up at all then a cost of US$ 250 will apply. 3. What is the FREE room upgrade for the wedding couple included in the free wedding package? If we book an oceanview room, will we be upgraded to oceanfront? If we book a standard room, will we be upgraded to oceanview or oceanfront? Please note upgrades are based upon availability. But as you said from standard to Ocean View and from Ocean View to Ocean Front. 4. The free wedding package says it includes a champagne toast. Is this only for the bride and groom? If so, how much would it be extra per person for the toast? No the Champagne Toast is for everyone at the ceremony. 5. Do you have decorations available to use for the reception for tables other than the head wedding table such as vases and candles? Also, do you have paper lanterns, LED lights and boxes for table cards or do we need to bring these items ourselves? Our local florist tai flora will provide all that for you if you need to get in touch with them let me know so I can send you contact info. 6. Since I am using the free wedding package, what would it cost for the decorating of a huppa and the decorating of the reception venue since that's not included in the free wedding package? The huppa is not a part of the package and cost US$250 and is draped in white if you need it to be decorated then the florist will provide any additional that you will need. 7. The cost for a 3 hour private reception is $1,750. How much would it be if we wanted to rent it out for an extra hour to make it 6:30 - 10:30 PM? It would be a cost of US$ 250 and the time would be form 7:00pm to 11:00pm. I didn't ask about the hair trial but I'm assuming that would be extra and would probably be the same as what's on their price list. Best of luck! I hope you get the package! : ) Susan
  8. When I was there a few weeks ago, the Beach resort had a beach party of their own on Thursday (of course Grand and Suites guests could attend too) and the Suites resort had their beach party on Saturday night (of course for Grand and Suite guests only) and I believe the Grand had their beach party on Sunday night. See the following pic for the activities lineup:
  9. I was there a few weeks ago and there was a beach party on Thursday night. I think it started around 9.
  10. Just booked with Godfrey Guy today for flowers after Tai Floral quoted be ridiculous prices and a $150 setup/delivery fee plus 17.4% tax and 4% charge for credit cards. That is almost $500 just for fees!!!!!
  11. Is anyone else having a Welcome Party for their guests? I think most of mine will be arriving Thursday and there is actually a really fun beach party at the Beach property that takes place on Thursday nights so I might just try to save money and tell everyone to go there. Also, is anyone having anything after the rehearsal dinner? I can't decide if I want to have a bonfire and dj or reggae band and party the night before my wedding or try to rest up for the next day!? Decisions, decisions!
  12. We stayed at the Suites a few weeks ago and ate at the Mexican restaurant. My fiance had shorts on and they made him go change into pants. Flip-flops/sandals are okay though.
  13. Ladies, I absolutely LOVE this dress and its uniqueness but unfortunately, I am on a new quest for a dress that is more fitted/mermaid style. I paid almost $500 including shipping for this and am asking $400 or best offer and will ship it for FREE! It has never been worn or altered. Description: Ruched organza shapes a slimming sweetheart bodice. 3D floral detail adorns the side-draped waist for a touch of femininity. Split front A-line skirt features printed flower inset for added drama. Chapel train.
