My wedding is on April 13, 2012. I responded to Ileana asking if my specific photographer, who I already put a deposit down on, would be able to photograph my wedding. Haven't heard back yet. What can we do if they change their policy? Do we all just lose our deposits?

I just got a response from Ileana (the wedding manager) saying that they specifically do not work with Del Sol or La Luna photography.

I already put a deposit down on an outside photographer. I feel like they cannot change that policy after they have already said that we are allowed to bring in outside vendors...

I was just there last April and didn't notice any problems with seaweed. I thought the beach was very nice - not the best I have ever been to, but nowhere near the worst. However, I am more of a pool person.

I finally received a response from Ileana, letting me know that Yamina is no longer with the resort but that a new wedding coordinator will be assigned to me shortly. She let me request locations for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception but said she will confirm when the event is a month away. I still haven't received a planning packet or anything like that. I did receive a list of centerpieces, but no pricing. I would like to do something with floating candles and flowers in a vase, but I'm worried about how much the resort would charge and I don't know how I would transport all of the vases to the resort. Has anyone thought about centerpieces yet?

I received a confirmation letter from EPM for my wedding date and package, but never received a planning packet. If that helps...

I wasn't aware of this either! I'm also wondering if our guests were to book individually through travel websites and travel agents, would we still get the credit for booking 5 rooms?

Has anyone used Vistaprint to make placecards for seating at the reception? I haven't been able to find the right thing to order that would work...

I just bit the bullet and decided on April 13th, 2012. Superstitions be damned! I've been working on my website all week, it is a lot more work than I thought it would be! My fiance is a web developer so we are building one from scratch. One feature I decided to add is a 'Random Fun Fact' about the couple on the homepage, so that each time you visit there will be a new piece of trivia. Do you think that sounds weird? Next up, I need to find a photographer! Have you all decided who you are using? I'm deciding between La Luna and Nate (Broshot).

Hi Ladies, I need some advice!! I decided to switch my date from 4/6/12 because it is Easter weekend and the rates will be higher for my guests. I'm trying to decide between 5/4 at 5p and 4/13 at 5p. I'm worried that May will be too hot and 4/13 is Friday the 13th! I'm not superstitious but it still kind of bugs me... The remaining Fridays in April are booked for the timeslot I want. Brenna, was it very hot when you were just there? What does everyone think about a 'Friday the 13th' wedding?

Hi Ladies - when do you plan on booking your photographer? Is this something that I need to have done almost a year in advance or can I wait until closer (about 6 mos.) to book someone? I'm also struggling with the cost! I requested some quotes and all of the photographers I like are in the $2500-3000 range. Is that normal? Any advice on how to make it more affordable?

I was just there in April and didn't get a single bug bite - and I'm normally covered in them if they are around.

I am worried about wearing sandals on the beach because sometimes when you walk it will flick sand up at your back, or in my case, at my dress! So I was going to get married barefoot, but I would like to wear sandals/wedges to my reception. So do I get my dress hemmed for the heels and let it drag when I walk down the aisle? I'm not sure how to handle that...

I was thinking of sending my invites out in mid-June. But I have read on multiple posts here that people don't RSVP as often for destination weddings, so I was thinking to skip the formal RSVP and instead direct them to our website to RSVP and provide my phone number as an alternate. Everyone I am inviting is close enough to us that I figure it is fine to be a little more informal. Or is that tacky?

I actually love that movie!! It is not that great, but for some reason whenever it is on TV, I can't help but watch. Is Javier Rojas only a part of the Mariachi trio? If I chose Caribbean, would it be a different band? I'm also struggling with whether or not to get a DJ. I'm anticipating maybe 40-50 guests, many of whom probably will not dance - but I still think that I will need some kind of music. I can't decide if an iPod playlist with speakers is enough...

I'm joining in on the hijacking! After reading through this thread I'm slightly concerned...I confirmed April 6, 2012 for my wedding (it is my grandparent's 60th anniversary) without realizing that it is so close to Easter. Does that mean that flights are going to be more expensive?
