Hi girls, It probably is true...and you're right, you should be notified, but perhaps if a contract has been signed and if you already have agreement (in writing) from the resort, then they might accommodate original pricing... although even the contract states pricing is subject to change. I think that because these resorts are so popular for weddings, they are running into issues with guests who can't book any a la cartes during the week as a result of all of the private affairs. Frustrating I know, I experienced it but at the end of the day I get it. We didn't have enough people to fill the entire restaurant so we didn't have a private reception. The resort did an excellent job of creating a beautiful wedding reception dinner for us, and while there were other guests in the restaurant, I didn't even notice them! Seriously.. I don't remember even seeing other people there. We had a beach bonfire for dancing and it was absolutely amazing. There was a reason we opted to have a destination wedding, we wanted something more relaxed, more fun and definitely on the beach, we didn't want a typical wedding, our day couldn't have been more perfect and our guests have agreed it was the best wedding ever!!

Hey girls! I got a sneak peek from my photographer, love how they turned out so far

Hey ladies! Just got back from IRHB and the week was absolutely amazing!! The resort was beautiful, food was delicious and the wedding was perfect. The staff worked their asses off all week and always with a smile. While communication may be weak prior to the wedding, rest assured they really do try their hardest to accommodate your wedding wishes and are more than willing to meet with you and work with you when you arrive to ensure everything goes according to plan. The day of the wedding, Kymoya (the WC) was on site the entire day and didn't leave until very late in the evening (past 11pm) ensuring everything went smoothly. The wedding coordinators are booked up dealing with brides getting married that week, there was a wedding every day we were there the whole week. I too had been frustrated with the lack of communication, it seemed when i got responses only half my questions were answered, etc.. but once I got there, I realized they really do work hard. If there's anyone to blame it's the Iberostar itself and not the staff onsite, I think they could probably use some help!!! As for the dinner, we had originally anticipated having a semi-private wedding (where we had the place to ourselves for half the night) for free as well but didn't have the numbers so we were also told it would cost us $400. We opted not to reserve the whole place and they really did a great job of keeping our section private, we had speeches and it was decorated how I wanted and we didn't even notice the other guests. We had a beach bonfire where we danced, had more drinks and released sky lanterns. It was incredible!!! My guests were totally amazed and can't stop saying what an amazing week and wedding overall. I'll be posting my review soon with some pics. I can't comment on the Suites or Grand, we didn't really spend any time there but the property looked amazing. For those of you still considering on going forward with your beach wedding, do it!! It was so fun and I have absolutely no regrets

holy @#*(&^#$@ I leave Saturday! I don't know where the last few months have gone but man they flew! I haven't started packing, we haven't finished picking our music, I haven't looked at the vows and have absolutely no idea how we're going to get the mountain of stuff we're bringing to Jamaica. It's going to be an interesting and frantic week... I'll probably have a melt down or two, I may curse at more than one person, but next week I will be on a beach, relaxing, drink in hand! Woohoo! I can't wait to marry my prince charming! Wish me luck in getting through this week ladies! lol! And good luck & congrats to the other brides I know are also leaving in the next week or two!!

OMG, I hear ya girl! I'm working on a welcome booklet, haven't started by program fans, and am trying to figure out how i'm going to get everything there! lol!! We leave in 14 days! Holy $%&!

Yikes! Not cheap... they should really have a toll free number. Q for all past brides out there: Has anyone had the cake with the champagne toast after the ceremony?? Just curious if it's too hot & if the cake held up. I was thinking it would be nice to have our ceremony, champagne & cake (because they go so well together!!) and a steel drum band. Our dinner will be at 7 so also gives pple a bit of snack... plus i'm assuming there are plenty of other desserts at dinner!!

Hi there! I too am bringing a photographer with us, he'll be staying the entire week with our group. There is NO WAY I am paying a vendor fee for him, he's a paying guest! They're out of their minds if they think we'll be paying for him. We're telling the resort he's a family friend who has agreed to take pictures, it's not any of their business as far as I'm concerned. If I was bringing someone in for the day, then I'd understand, but I'm not. Good luck girl!

Ugh.. that's really too bad Here are a few ideas, if you want to order online try etsy or ebay. If you want to try in person I would check out Michaels, I bought my veil there! It's not birdcage but I did see a bird cage veil at Michaels... it was pretty simple so you could add a flower or whatever yourself. Also, I think I recently saw something an Aldo accessories store. If you've got one, maybe also check le Chateau, they have a wedding line so they might have accessories. With prom season creeping up there's bound to be a few stores carrying something you'll love! Good luck girl!

Hmm.. tricky. A suggestion: Can you have someone else try it on?

Hi ladies! Thought I would let anyone who's interested know I found 100% bio-degradable, eco-friendly sky lanterns. These are completely wire-free ( no harming creatures )! I decided I would just pick up the phone and ask, so I talked to a few places: www.weddinglantern.com - These have a wire frame (BAD) www.wishlantern.com - This company has eco-friendly lanterns however they are out of stock until May. As I'm getting married in April, this won't work. www.theskylantern.com - This company sells eco-friendly lanterns, $3/piece, also available by the case for less/piece I think and will ship very quickly. For all you Canadians, shipping was comparable to all of the other places I checked, plus if you call them they will give you a direct number for a Canadian distributor who can sell by the case (out of London, ON) which means you'll likely save on shipping. I didn't need a whole case so just ordered by phone (today). Shipping was $28 and i'll have them here in three days. The person I spoke to was also very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!!! While eco-friendly lanterns may be slightly more expensive, a few extra dollars is worth it knowing i'm not sending wire into the ocean to get stuck and torture poor, unsuspecting ocean wildlife. Choose the eco-friendly options!!

Sorry - correction: i meant, www.theyskylantern.com Thanks!

Hi ladies! Can someone tell me if the lanterns from www.skylantern.com are wire-free? I know they claim to be biodegradable but i'm concerned about the wire pieces going into the ocean or floating elsewhere and animals/fish getting caught in them. Not worth it for me if I'm going to kill these poor creatures for some nice pics. In the pics/video it looks like there is wire. If anyone knows where i can find the true biodegradable and safe lanterns, please let me know! Thanks!

That's so strange!! They must have different "rules" for each of the resorts. You can bring in outside vendors at the Beach and you will be charged vendor fees. With respect to the photographer, I must have been mixed up with the day pass as I recall being told there would be some sort of fee. We're brining our own photographer, so no vendor fee/day pass because he'll be a guest of the resort. We're likely hiring a an external DJ, still deciding, but we've been given the go-ahead by the resort, and of course there is a vendor fee.
