  1. Hi girls, Now that I have found my own dress, I'm on the hunt for the perfect bm dress that will suit the occasion and different body types. I want my girls to feel great and look great and am really hoping to find something off the rack in Jacob or something like that. I found this dress and love it, comes in yellow and pink. What do you think? I read somewhere that target carries really cute dresses as well! My dress is ivory/pearl, not sure what color will look best, def not the yellow, maybe pink?? I was also thinking about having the girls wear black cocktail dresses, any thoughts?? I know it's not super beachy but I love black with ivory... Need help!!!
  2. So looks like if I want to send out anything now it will have to be electronic!!! Canada post strike might be difficult to order anything online as well!
  3. Dress number two for sure! And if you don't love it, keep looking, it's out there! Just found a dress at a sample sale and got such an amazing deal... But I'm definitely making some changes to it, I'm going to customize it and make it perfect!!
  4. Hi there - this might be a really stupid question... but what is a "jute bag"??
  5. Great idea canadiangirl! And you're right... some people are going to give something regardless of how many times you say no! lol, so better to get something you want
  6. Thanks girls! I'll probably do the same! flip flops and then barefoot in the sand
  7. hi torilynnsmith... who are you working with? if you don't mind me asking.. perhaps you can PM it?
  8. Thank you!! I bought an Anne Barge gown, don't know the exact style #, need to check the tags! lol! Anyone interested in going, here's a link to the shop: http://www.whitetoronto.com/ I went expecting not to be able to find something within my budget, and I can't believe how lucky I was!! Will post pics as soon as I can I also tried on the Monique Lluhlier "Snow White" dress, it was beautiful! It was discounted but still out of my budget. Happy shopping!
  9. Hi all - so let me clarify... there are travel agents (like those at Flight Center, itravel2000, etc...) that you do not pay for (as in, I don't directly pay them a fee), and there are other travel agents who request a fee, or fee per booking from me for making the arrangements and providing a service that includes the wedding arrangements - they would deal directly with the hotel. I know how I am, I would prefer to make all of the arrangements myself, if I had access to the tour company systesms, I would find my own package deal! lol!! So I think I'll continue working with the no-fee companies, and hopefully find something that works for my fiance and I and all our guests. We have people coming from both Toronto and Ottawa which complicates things a little bit, we need to find flights that leave on the same or following day. Thanks for all the info!! If anyone has had better luck with better rates through an agent that does charge a fee, please post!
  10. Hi there girls - so no heels? And no flip flops? I'm wondering what will work best as well.. and will need to take it into account when I get my dress altered, I don't want to wear heels, was hoping some cute wedge flip flops or something.
  11. Thanks for sharing JQ!! I'm definitely not going to work directly with the hotel or airlines to block rooms/flights, that seems like so much effort and you're right, there's the fine print.. . I'm wondering, do I bite the bullet and pay for a TA, or do I use Flight Center or itravel2000 at no cost? The latter means I deal directly with the hotel to organize all wedding day related activities, details, etc... which I wanted to do anyways... and I think they can find me a better rate for accom/flight pkgs. So far what I've heard from them is that they can get a group rate that should be better than if you booked on your own now. Fingers crossed...
  12. And you're getting married in April!? Lol!! You are VERY organized!! Good for you!!
  13. Ladies!! I found my dress! Went to the White Toronto sample sale this morning and picked up a gorgeous dress at a teeny tiny fraction of the price!! If you're not going, call them and book an appointment! It's today and tomorrow, I was pretty lucky to get an appointment for this AM, probably because it was a work-day. I'm so excited! I'm going to make a few changes and of course needs alterations but the dress is in amazing condition! Now I just need to book the hotel! lol
  14. Hi there, If are ready to go straight to invitations, do it! I want to make mine and think it will take me forever! Lol! I wouldn't bother with the added expense if you don't have to!
  15. Thanks for posting about this!! So if I understand correctly, the little blue birth certificate cards are not sufficient? We need to get the long form? Thanks again!
  16. Has anyone used wedsite or something like that? I too want to get info out to our guests as soon as possible and just think it might be easier and more cost-effective to send out a "save the date" via something electronic versus making/printing/mailing something. I do want to make some really cool invites though, either boarding passes or passport... just need some good templates!
  17. What a great idea! I would not have thought to do that myself... I can't get over how helpful this site is!! Thank you
  18. Wow... Your photos are stunning! Your photographer did an amazing job of capturing your day, congratulations!
  19. Hi girls, I'm not sure if you've checked already but go on youtube and google steel drum band wedding and you'll come across songs that sounds pretty great on the steel drum band. We are thinking about getting a steel drum band for the ceremony and I'm planning to walk down the aisle to Over the Rainbow and it sounds so nice!! I really love that song good luck!
  20. Hi Jamaica 2012! Not sure if you've picked anything yet but just wanted to let you know I managed to book a date in April at the Iberostar Suites and it was one of the last few dates available in April... already! I was pretty surprised and while it wasn't my first choice, I'm happy with it, assuming I can find flights! lol Happy planning!
  21. Hi! Thanks for all your info I'm currently waiting for quotes from our TA and hoping to keep costs down for our guests, I'm torn between the Suites and the Beach - I've read the best reviews about the Suites and am wondering if it's just worth the little extra for the Suites??"
  22. Hi everyone and congrats!!! I'm an April 2012 bride My fiance and I have just booked our big day at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites Jamaica (Montego Bay).. so excited!! Let the planning begin... Anyone else booked for April at the Rose Hall? We are waiting on quotes from our TA's so hoping we get a good rate, wanted to avoid Feb/Mar thinking it would be more expensive with spring breaks and peak winter traveling. Happy planning everyone, am loving this site, the wealth of information is overwhelming!
  23. I've contacted Flight Center and itravel2000... am still waiting on quotes from them, FC has been pretty helpful so far, the only frustration is the turnaround time on quotes from the tour operators!! I'm mostly concerned with getting the best rates possible for my guests, the rest I want to handle myself, I'm a planner by nature and am pretty excited about planning all the details!
