Yea I know most resorts have more than one, so I did think it was weird when they only put "ballroom" in my proposal and since I haven't gone to the actual resort I had no clue, now I have to stalk Renee and my new WC Maylen to try to get this info :/ It's so frustrating that they don't get back to you right away or at least in a timely fashion. Does anyone know if there is only one ballroom in the resort? I'm working with caribbean celebrations for my decor and they need to know size of the ballroom I reserved. Renee and my new WC have not gotten back to me and it's been a week, and in my proposal all it says is requested, element terrace for cocktail hour and ballroom for reception, it doesn't specify which one. I was under the impression there was only one ballrrom?? So confusing! Thanks!

Hi Vinarum, I got that adjusted as well because I specifically asked Marlyn before speaking to a WC, about this several times when I was trying to figure out which photographer I was using. So I forwarded Renee the emails where she confirmed that a day pass would be sufficient, therefore she had to adjust this for me. I already signed a contract with my photographer and there's no way I was having him stay for 2 nights, especially since they told me beforehand that the day pass was ok. Hi! I signed my contract last year sometime and I was not aware that there was a 3hour limit per day on the unlimited private functions. Maybe because I hadn't spoken to a WC until now, I did argue with my new WC about this and they adjusted it for me. So now I am using 6 hours of private function time. If I want to extend my reception after 12 am in the ballroom I then would have to pay $60 for every extra hour per table. I believe if you want to have your reception in the element terrace you can only have it until 11pm and can't extend time at all.

My Wedding is October 12th, I signed my contract in 2011 and that's why I argued that the private functions should not be limited to 3 hours since I was not aware of that when I signed the contract. I definitely have to make some time to call the hotel directly and speak to the WC on site, I wanted to hire an outside decorating company that my photographer has worked with and I absolutely love their work, but I can't bring any outside vendors. Some of the resorts prices are way to expensive so I might end up bringing in some of the decor.

Hi! she adjusted the 3hr max per day so now my cocktail hour is tentatively (still adjusting times): 6-7pm and reception 7-12am, any additional hours after 12 am are extra. She also said for my photographer a day pass or minimum of 1 night stay was ok. I'm saving every single email just in case!

Hey all! So I was able to get the adjustment because I did sign my contract in 2011 and was unaware of all the new regulations. I will be definitely calling the hotel directly from now on, since they probably have aclearer and more accurate information.

I wasn't aware either, I emailed her back stating that no where in my contract it states that, and also I've spoken to Marlyn multiple times asking if a day pass or a minimum of what night was fine for my photographer and she's always answered yes. I'm asking they they stick to that. There is no way my photographer is staying for 2 nights. It isn't necessary.

Hey all, So according to Rene: If you're eligible for the private functions, it's only valid for use of 3 hours a day. So for example Cocktail hour: 1 Hour Reception: you're allowed to use the other 2 hours and then you have to pay for any additional hours depending on how many tables you have, for service. Second If you are bringing your own photographer, they need to now stay a 2 night minimum. The resort credits are only allowed to be used towards the wedding collections, and spa services, etc. The call went so quick I barely even got to breathe! I'm going to call the hotel directly and speak to the onsite wedding planner to go over everything and make sure everything is accurate.

I was wondering the same thing! I'm getting married on October 12,2012 and the direct flights to Punta Cana from NYC are still not available, so I have no quotes with airfare, just for the hotel. Right now when I search online the cheapest I see is $205 per person/ per night. My travel agent got it down to $178, which was cheaper than what the hotel was charging me. If I find a sale on line, she said she can try to get them to match it. I guess only time will tell

Are you getting this quote for the 1723 for a 7 day week, with the hotel directly or with a travel agent. The lowest my travel agent got the rates for were $178 per person/ per night for double occupancy. Thanks!

I was told you can bring your own photographer as long as they are a guest at the resort, so I can either get a day pass for them or have them stay at the resort. The photographer I'm using is from the capital and has done weddings there before. Hope this helps!

I think it's HDC as well. I'm bringing in my own photographer as well, he's from the Domincian Republic but in the Capital. I was told they have to be a guest as well. I'm not sure if they're are staying at the resort or if I'm purchasing a day pass. It would be him and his crew about 4-6 people, including the videographer. Decisions...decisons!

Hi Sun Lover, I'm going to try to call Renee and schedule a conference call, I'm all booked and do have a contract for October 12, 2012, but still haven't heard from her, I know it may be a little soon but just have so many questions. Did she mention anything on: if you want to bring outside vendors?
