Yes, we booked for October 21, 2011 but I am currently working on trying to change the time of the ceremony. That is the wonderful thing about this forum!! I connected with another bride who was getting married on the same day and she let me know that she had a schedule change. Now if only the WC would email me back Planning from afar is stressful.

We are only staying for one week so we definately will be making the most of it We fly from Toronto on October 17 and depart Oct 24 I contacted my TA yesterday and she sent an email to Alejandra at GSP. She is my TAs contact for wedding coordination but I haven't heard back yet I would be really great to get the time switched! If I don't hear back today perhaps I will just email Mara directly.

I know exactly what you mean! Thanks for the email. I am just going through all of it now and would love to know more about your photographer as well. I do see what you mean about it being unclear. I don't see the prices anywhere for the gala rooms but I do see that alcohol is included for 4 hours in the menu prices! We were going with the Royalty package as well but it would be interesting to see what they charge separately for each of these items. That way you can see exactly what kind of a savings you actually get with one of these packages or if it is worth it to just customize your own. I have also heard great reviews about the beach party so we are still considering that option. Our group size is only around 30 but if the customized package is around the same price as the Royalty package, why not? We were considering doing the dinner at one of the a la carts but then we need to worry about what to do after that. So many things to plan....

My to do list says otherwise I think your approach on asking for a quote on what you want is a good one. I had heard that they don't like to alter their standard wedding packages but you never know until you as!

You are much further ahead than us! We are just at the initial stages and I agree, planning over email can be very challenging. So far we have 22 confirmed guests but I think we will finish around 30. I haven't decided on the reception as all I have to go by is the website so far! I am dying to know my options. Did you join the Facebook group (Grand Riviera Princess Weddings)? I requested to join over a week ago but haven't received a response yet. What date are you getting married?

We will be travelling to GSP in October 2011. Here is what my travel agent said about currency: The Mexican Government recently passed a law that went into effect across the country on September 14, 2010. The objective of this legislation is to limit and control the movement of USD CASH within Mexico. Travelers need to be advised that USD CASH will no longer be widely accepted everywhere in Mexico As of September 14, 2010, here are the more noticeable restrictions to the use of USD CASH to make purchases in Mexico: 1. Hotels and money exchange booths will only be able to change a maximum of $1,500 USD CASH per person per month into Mexican Pesos. Previously there was no limit. 2. Businesses (including Amstar DMC in Mexico) will only be able to accept a maximum of $100 USD CASH per transaction – but the number of transactions per customer is not restricted. 3. Certain businesses may not be able, or may choose not to, accept USD CASH for any purchases at all. (This could include shops, restaurants, etc.) For example, if a customer wants to purchase a local tour worth $139 USD per person, he will only be able to pay $100 USD in USD CASH and the remainder will need to be paid in another form (i.e. credit card, Mexican Pesos or Travelers’ Checks).Other payment methods such as credit cards of all types, travelers’ checks, Mexican Pesos, and non-US foreign currencies in cash (i.e. Euros, Canadian Dollars, etc.) are not affected by this new law. (*Note: I was in Mexico in December of 2010, and all cab/bus drivers, food servers, maids, etc accepted USD. But you may want to go to your local bank to order Pesos, or a local Money Exchange.
