  1. Yay! I was thinking the same thing.... Not getting married until summer 2013, but I have always struggled with weight, and though I started losing weight and getting healthy this spring, I almost went as far back to where I started over the last few months! Grrr! But I really want to be more fit when trying on dresses, and when doing all the planning stuff... easier to stay on track that way! I am starting zumba in the fall I think, and will be going to the gym regularly once I am back into a routine, but motivation now is really bad. I am a teacher, so you would think with all my time off, I would be doing better, but no. No routine, and the weight goes on!
  2. Oh this is so cute! I wish I had read the poem to your sister before I made my cards... I almost teared up! These are great! And I love the idea of a bling girl! Awesome!
  3. Oh tough.... why not give her another job, like a VIE (very important extra). You could ask her to do a reading (or song if she is musically inclined) at the ceremony, speak at the reception, work the guest book table, hand out programs, or give her some other job. I have seen this called a Hostess before, I believe. Just be honest about everything with her, and chances are, she will totally understand.
  4. Hey this is a great idea! A lot of my family is not computer-savvy ("What on earth is a wedding website?" I was asked), but I will be able to tell whether those specific people are coming or not anyway. Maybe say something like Invitation to follow, please RSVP by ___________ at (our wedding website) or call _______________ to receive yours. Or maybe just leave it at wedding website and instruct my parents to speak to those specific people? What do you think?
  5. I agree. I have never seen a dress in the traditional setting that was clean after anyway! Most of the brides I have talked to said the dress was actually really clean after being in the ocean! Especially after being in the sand and all that. Of course, it is everyone's personal decision. And yes, if people donate their dress, they should want to, not feel like they have to. That is what is so awesome about this forum - so many different opinions!
  6. LOL Okay well I think I am going to check with the resort then!
  7. Wow that price is awesome! And your DH is quite the negotiator!
  8. Oh I would really love to send out the STDs earlier than a year.... can you book your resort that early? It seems that most book closer to a year in advance.... hmmm...
  9. HAHAHAHA I love that one too! Only I do not know where to put it.... hmm...
  10. Hmmm this is all good info. I guess we will have to think on this more. Thanks for sharing, all!
  11. Oh I love TTD photos.... some of my favourites, and since I am the only on of my friends and family to do a DW, they are totally unique! Just not sure about budget and such.... will have to make it a priority, I suppose!
  12. This is a great thread and SO much help! Thank you so much to all the fabulous brides posting! Great things to consider.... like to remind myself to stop stressing about who is and is not going to come!
  13. THANK YOU so so much! This is great, and yes, so good to know... I think I should print both of these lists off and paste them in my planning binder... on my fridge... bathroom mirror... highlighting areas I may need to remember from time to time! Hahaha! Thanks for reposting!
  14. FI has also gotten linen shirts at Old Navy before, and has always liked them
  15. That is so funny! This is the song that makes me want to walk in on my own too! Love your taste in music! This might be MY song after all... love that song, and that version is perfect!
  16. Good ideas! We will be doing the shoe thing FOR SURE. Always love that one! A friend of mine had a larger wedding.... on each table, there was a phrase or a line of a song or a word.... In order to go to supper, someone from the table had to get up and explain the significance of that line or whatever to the couple. For example... the name of their pet... the tagline of the movie they saw on their first date... that kind of thing. The couple was good about placing the clues on tables where at least one person would know the answer.... ALTHOUGH someone did get up and make up a ridiculous story to try to answer their clue, and the MCs said it was creative enough that they could get supper anyway. This wouldn't work for us, but it was both sweet and funny.
  17. I'm not sure, but I am liking the idea of pics playing continuously.... I think we will do the traditional slide show, then watch the wedding video (again, probably unprofessionally done), but then AFTER that leave pictures running... we will see about the rental and set up of equipment though. And, that way, people won't worry about missing something. The AHR is mostly for the older family members anyway... they really like seeing all those pictures I find!
  18. If you have the place, why not post them in a frame or on a board or something, and then leave one more program-style on each table?
  19. Although..... this is another great way to go.... Hmmmm
  20. I know this is an old post, but it is exactly what I am thinking. Thanks!
  21. Oh excellent question!!! I was wondering this too; I am worried because I was going to say "invitation to follow", but I only want to send invitations to people who sound like they will at least MAYBE be coming...
