What a fabulous way to look at things! I need to remind myself of this... Thankful to go through this to realize who does and does not care. Love it! That being said, AWESOME job! Love it! Way to go with all the personalization! Cannot wait to see more!

Oooh! Pumpkin pie love. (Cannot wait till next weekend for it!) Turkey? (see, now I am fixated...)

We are quite a ways away yet... July 2013. So our AHR will be mid-late August that year.
-
We originally wanted to do a casual AHR but now it sounds like it will be more formal too, since so many family members on my side (who are all about tradition) will not be coming to the DW. How long after your DW are you having your AHR? We are doing ours about a month or so after our actual wedding day. We are going to have the entrance (all in wedding attired, but it will be fairly casual) and our MC (my brother) is going to just introduce us as Mr. and Mrs.... We will redo our 'first' dance to the same song, and we will have the parents dances too. Our wedding package includes a cake, so we will have one at the DW but we will also have one at ahr. We will play some typical reception games, have a buffet-style dinner, watch a slideshow of FI and us from childhood to engagement, then watch our wedding video. After, we will leave wedding pictures rotating silently. We will have a dance (iPod for music). It will be decorated, all DIY and photos (some old wedding photos from other family members, others our own wedding). We are debating doing our sand ceremony at home too. I know I want to do one but I am nervous about taking it all down there. I thought it might be a nice touch at the AHR. I do not think there is anything wrong at all with AHR. It will be really nice for your family members who did not get to see you get married.

We included information about us as individuals, us as a couple, how we met, engagement, etc. We also included information about our families and bridal party, our destination, and at home reception. I have information ready and saved to add once we get the date finalized with our travel agent (which I will be including), and the date booked for our at home reception, but I have not added it yet. We also included a lot of pictures, both together as well as of our "nearest and dearest", We will be adding where we are registered once we get closer too. I have seen brides include a page for song requests, if that is something you are considering. If you want to look at mine.... www.weddingwire.com/brandonandkrysta

Engagement Photo Attire
Peach replied to BusyBee123's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
It is all your style. You want the pictures to reflect YOU. We are getting FI's mom to take ours (she has photography experience), and went to take some during the summer (we are taking more in the fall). We found out that we laughed the whole time and just joked around with each other, teasing and everything. It was silly and very us and I love the pictures! At the same time, we also love being dressed up, so we are going to be a little more stylish mixed in with fun next time. I guess what I am trying to say is that it really depends on you as a couple and your location. We are going to play in a park with our dogs when we go next time, which is very typical for us. If you are a very sophisticated style, goofy playing in leaves pictures may not suit you. Similarly, if you live in sweats and jerseys most of the time, cocktail dresses, suits and heels will look out of place. My best recommendation is to try and find some middle-of-the-road outfits. I would google tons of pictures for ideas, and especially look at what your photographer has done before. Let's say you can do 3 outfits. I would do: 1 very nice, but casual, look: Dark denim, nice sweater or blouse. 1 dressier look: little dress, heels, that idea. 1 casual dress OR more casual (another colour is a good idea) OR maybe a jersey or something if you are avid sports fans? For our summer ones, I wore layered tanks over a denim skirt. For the fall ones, either a black or deep pink sweater over dark denim. I am also bringing a jacket I love so I look more put-together but can take it off too. Layering might be a good idea. Okay, that is a lot of layering. My advice, in summary: bring different type of outfits. Google LOTS to get ideas of what you love for inspiration. -
Bubba Keg at WalMart
Peach replied to Milly11's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Hey Jay Kay, I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure only the Walmart in the States carry those Bubbas; around here I think Canadian Tire is your best bet, unless you want to head across the border or something (not a bad idea for some of those deals!) Just so you know, you can sign up for email notifications for when they go on sale at Canadian Tire. It doesn't always work, but last time it did! -
Yummy! Love! Margaritas?

Show off your shoes....

Love the colour! Is the white flipflop completely flat or does it have a bit of heel? -
Depends on how they are made. One I like well enough. Mimosas?

Well, I have read every single post on this thread, and wow! I am so impressed! I, too, am DIYing pretty much everything, and you have given me so much inspiration! I hope it all only looks half as good as yours! Thank you so much, and I cannot wait to see everything all put together! Thank you so, so, so much! It is all fabulous! Have a wonderful wedding - I am sure that you will!

Definitely like. ABBA music?
-
I was thinking about doing this too, but am going to wait to see what type of crowd we end up with; certain people I know don't really listen to CDS anymore, and since we are so far away (July 2013), I am sure that number will be even fewer. However, I still listen to - and love - them!
-
Like, but mostly blush or white; very few reds I like. Tim Horton's? (sorry, I guess this is a very Canadian question...)

You mean the ABBA one?

At Home Reception (AHR) Do's and Don'ts
Peach replied to Brenners's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
The plan so far for us is to try and find a happy balance between formal and casual AHR. Originally we just were thinking casual, but we got some flack from family who will not be attending the DW; and we also want to ease it on my grandparents as much as possible, so we are adding some traditional elements. It will be a buffet style, and we will be wearing our wedding clothes (but they are going to be pretty casual anyway). We are doing a slideshow of us as children up to engagement pictures, with music, then playing the wedding video right after that, and then leaving wedding pictures rotating all night. There will be dancing, but I am just hooking up an iPod. I will be making decorations and centrepieces (already started!). We are hoping to keep it around $5000. Basically, the DW is for us, the AHR is the compromise for my family. That's the way we are looking at it, anyway. -
Ooops, I forgot to add "I Can Hear Music" by Beach Boys

Okay, so I am starting my lists of songs, and I noticed a bride on another thread had a list of "Getting Ready" songs. I was planning on making a CD (or a playlist, if I get a new iPod!) of really upbeat wedding or love related songs, to listen to throughout planning closer to the date as well as for getting ready. I started a list, and thought I would share it with all of you lovely ladies! Plus, if you have any other suggestions, please feel free to add! Cutting the cake Song ?!?!?
Peach replied to goddesslv4's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Uh-oh! Another one to add to my list! We are thinking either "sugar sugar", "how sweet it is to be loved by you", "pour some sugar on me" or "I wanna grow old with you" from the wedding singer. We might go with that for signing papers during the ceremony though. Now I love ABBA, so my mind might be changing... -
