  1. I think the charity is a totally wonderful idea!
  2. Where did you hear about people getting sick? And what is the reason? And how sick? And, do your guests travel a lot? We have been to several all-inclusives in Mexico, and have always heard about people getting sick... yet we have not. Please keep in mind that anytime someone travels, sleeps differently, changes eating patterns, climate, is in the sun a lot, and has a lot of alcohol, there is going to be some physical consequences. If this is what you have heard, I would be upfront about it with your guests; recommend immodium and other such things, that they drinks lots of (bottled) water, and go easy on the unusual foods, at least for the first few days.
  3. I have just started planning, but I can tell you this one easily. My family. Just crazy! I get all excited and try to talk to my mom about anything and I am almost driven to tears. Not good. Erg. She just does not want to hear about any of it, and I hear that I am selfish and all kinds of backhanded comments. It just sucks and really hurts. Ugh. Thank God for friends, my sister, and his family. And, of course, for my wonderful and understanding fiance.
  4. You know, I have seen ivory dresses beside white shirts, and frankly, it looks fine to me. It is maybe a little different in a fancy location, but on the beach, in the sun, it looks just fine. Like you said, it can be harder to match an off-white shirt with ivory than just go for white. I think if it looks like it was done consciously and on purpose it is probably okay.
  5. Thanks so much! That sounds lovely! I am sure that you will get some great fall-like shots; curious to hear what you wore. Even better - please post pictures! Cannot wait to see!
  6. Have you thought about registering for your honeymoon or to go towards your travel? We are realizing quickly that we need to register; for the shower, plus we have guests that are going to be buying us stuff anyway. We have been living together for a long time and are quite established. However, we know people are going to buy us stuff, so we would rather it be specific things we do not have or need replacing. You could always include a note in your invitation or as part of your wedding website that says that requests no gifts. If people still want to bring you something, maybe it will be gift cards or $ anyway. You could also tell a couple people - bms for example - about your wishes, and they may be able to explain better when people ask them.
  7. We're out west too - southern Alberta. We are still going to the Dominican though - it is just a stop over in Toronto. Go where you want!
  8. Oooooh, Congratulations!!!! MJKH, by the way, I totally saw the glitter she used too! And I was thinking, wow!
  9. Okay ladies, I was planning on getting more pictures this weekend, but not sure if it is going to work out; the weather is simply NOT cooperating! Wish me luck though - we might be able to steal outside between the rain to get a few! Ah well...
  10. Like (the idea of... I have never actually gone!) Hot Springs! (I am headed there this weekend!)
  11. Oh my goodness! Thank you for checking in with us! I think I speak for everyone when I say that we are wishing you so much joy and wonderful memories as your 'funstivities" begin! We are all so excited for you! Congratulations!!!!! Yay! Your wedding is going to be incredible! Truly a dream! Now, try to get some sleep tonight! Hahaha!
  12. I am planning on doing one and giving it to him before we leave; I am more concerned about one less thing to pack! Plus, I think he will appreciate getting them more when he can have a chance to look through them and not worry about rushing off to rejoin the group (and I won't have to worry about someone else picking it up or something). I like the idea of making a romantic night out of it right before we head out! That will really put us in wedding vacation mode!
  13. To everyone ordering shoes through the pink ribbon project - I would love to hear a review when they come in! I would really like to support such a worthy cause!
  14. Absolutely! We are in the same boat, and it is awesome to hear such positive attitudes from other brides. Fabulous!
  15. Like. especially lately. Brrr! Hot apple cider?
  16. Yea, if your group likes to "join" activities, and is a group that would appreciate it, I say go for it! I think it is really neat! The only thing is, make sure you do not have to take too much stuff down there. I might try something like this, only I would only plan events where I do not need many materials, and I would be ready to cancel when we got there, based on what people end up doing. (example - if we get there and half the people do not want to leave the palapas, for example). I am totally jealous if you do have a group that would be into games like that!
  17. Oh I saw these! So cute! We are doing "uno, dos, tres" spelled out, but I do not even know if we will end up doing that for our DW (maybe just AHR - depends on guest list for DW) Anyway, I really like the idea of the elements! I think it is something totally unique! But unfortunately I cannot help you in terms of images - just google away, I would say. Maybe try looking at different Mayan images?
  18. Like! (But not as much as I like BDW) Coffee?
  19. Okay I know I posted this a while ago, but I think I finally fixed it to the way I (I mean we ) want it. Thanks to all who helped! (Not sure about how to resize this... sorry about the gigantic-ness!)
  20. Definitely like. I have 2 costumes already. Pumpkin pie?
