  1. I was thinking Bulk Barn, so am not sure about another place...
  2. Oh we are definitely doing a cake topper! But, it is totally quirky and 'us'.... we found one of FI old little action figures, and I am in the process of trying to find a little toy from my childhood as well... And it will be Han Solo and Cinderella, standing on top of that cake! We thought it was fun and silly and very much 'us'. I am a Disney freak, and he loves the Star Wars movies, so it is necessary to throw in some personality! I found a cheap (like, 33 cents with discounts) wooden heart I might get them to stand up on, or maybe not. We'll see.
  3. Go online and sign up for their email fliers. You can also find the specific item online, then ask to be notified when they go on sale. Sometimes the notification works, sometimes it doesn't, but the fliers have always come for me, and I look at those online to check anyway. I also know that they do rainchecks when they are on sale, but they cannot guarantee colours. This may be something to consider if you are running low on time, or just want to get them done! When they go on sale it is usually for 50% off. Hope that helps!
  4. Thank you for the advice... I am thinking this may be the way to go. My dress for the DW is going to be very simple, but I still think I would do something different for legal. Thanks!
  5. These are FABULOUS! Congrats on finding such an awesome pair!
  6. That is what I am wondering... Except we only want a few people at our legal and extended at our AHR, and were hoping to do legal before DW and AHR after... but now having to rethink. Oh family drama sucks.
  7. Like/dislike.... like when I am cozy inside (until February). Hate my commute to work. morning coffee?
  8. I love the songs on the list so far! I also love the Israel Kamikowe (can never spell that correctly) Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World (the song from 50 First Dates)
  9. My biggest concern is that our plan was for the AHR to be a rather large (not fancy, just in quantity of people) with a lot of extended family; more like a regular reception. So it is okay to have a legal ceremony (then supper at a restaurant or something) with the grandparents and parents, the DW with whoever comes, and the big AHR after? Or does that just seem like a lot?
  10. Like (as long as not too many!) Seafood?
  11. So, we are planning a DW in Dominican in July 2013. We knew we'd get some flack from my family, since none of my 4 grandparents - who I am close with - can travel that far. But there has been a lot of drama. We were planning on doing the AHR in a casual, but fairly substantial, way when we got back. NOW it has been suggested to us to get legally married here, before we go (which we really did not want originally, but understand it will probably be easier), in a church (which we really did not want but is really, really, really important to my family) with just parents and grandparents. We actually are okay with this idea. But now my question is, is it all too much... Legal ceremony (small church, then dinner at a restaurant would be the way it goes), then DW, then large AHR. I am worried people will think, gee, why do the DW at all? I know a lot of brides on here have done this.... what do you think?
  12. Have a wonderful trip! You have worked hard to pull it together, now relax and enjoy it all! I know - we all do - that your wedding will be amazingly fabulous!
  13. Okay, if anyone reads this, I am after some advice... There has been a LOT of family drama on my side about a DW. I have been trying not to let it bother me. But the other day my dad called and spoke rationally but still emotionally about their concerns. Namely: 1 - I am the first in my entire family to be married, and my grandparents (we both have all 4 still) are too old to travel. I am very close with them and my grandmas are fairly heartbroken about missing it. I am planning on doing an AHR there, but apparently that is not enough. 2 - I come from a religious family; which are all extremely concerned that I am not being married in a church (I have always wanted to be married outside) 3 - the time of year - farmer family, all busy haying. Might not be able to come for that long. I cannot do anything about 3. I am a teacher; I get summers off. That is when it will be. BUT - even though FI and I really wanted to do everything - legal and whatnot - in the Dominican, we are thinking maybe we could get legally married here first, with just parents and grandparents. In a church. Here is my dilemma. If we do the legal thing at home, and the DW, AND the AHR.... is that not a bit MUCH? We would keep the legal thing here simple... small church ceremony, going out for dinner to a restaurant. That is it. We really did not want to do this, but we understand how important it is to my grandparents... I just can't help but think, then why even do a DW? Is this not a lot? I know a lot of brides get legally married first, so... what do you think? I guess I just need my mind eased.
  14. Hey! I am not sure when you are getting married, but if it is not for a while, I would wait until end-of-summer sales, especially at Old Navy, or Michaels. I got a pair at Michaels for 33 cents. If you need some quicker, Old Navy has them most of the year I think. I am not sure about online though.
  15. Like (once in a while) Mimosas?
  16. Oooh, now I need to know HOW to do this?
  17. Are there any songs that you know he loved? That might be nice. I think you and your brother dancing together is really sweet. A friend played a song for her dad at her wedding (just a clip, and no dancing) - they did it to a cool acoustic version of "Twinkle, twinkle little star", since she had a memory of her dad singing that to her and her sister when they were really really little. Not a dry eye. Pick something meaningful to you, and it will be wonderful. I am sorry you are in such a sad situation.
  18. You could also try etsy, I think everything is there!
  19. Uh oh; I have just skimmed through every page here. Why does this elicit an "uh oh" from me, you may ask? Well, you should see my cart. And my wish list. Wow, etsy is awesome! One question... I saw someone mention that you can do something called etsy alchemy. Can somebody please explain what that is and how it works? I guess I am pretty much a noob still.
  20. Thanks for all the advice. I just want to have an idea first; I - as well as whoever comes with me - will be traveling 2 hrs minimum to go dress shopping at all, so I do not want to make a bunch of trips; I am planning on keeping an open mind, but at least focusing my ideas first. Kind of like, this is what I am looking for, but I am willing to go outside that zone.
  21. At first I didn't care for it, but now I like. Sugar rushes?
  22. Like the tame ones.... dislike the really crazy ones (hanging in the air while going through a perpendicular drop then fourteen loops? No thank you!) mini chocolate bars?
  23. Like! Dressing up for Halloween?
