  1. I just made a jpeg of it based on designs I have seen online and elsewhere... I made it in word (I am comfortable in word), then copied it into powerpoint to save it as a jpeg, then uploaded it onto vistaprint during a free upload deal. There might be an easier way, but I am not sure how.... Hope that helps!
  2. Overnight in Toronto? Yikes.... I hope that isn't the case for us too... I can understand your concern. That does seem like a tough decision. I do not know what we would do if that is the case for us too. I guess I will just cross my fingers that it isn't. Good luck deciding! Let us know!
  3. We were there last summer. It is actually where we got engaged. We loved it and really want to go back! Of course, this was before all the renovations were done, so I am not sure what it is like now. It is not super fancy, but it really depends on what you are looking for. It has good prices, and is nice. If you are looking for really high class, this wasn't at least not then. Maybe it is different now? HOWEVER.... we would go back in a heartbeat. Everyone was really nice, we had a wonderful time, good food, and the price was great. So, it really depends on what you are looking for. Try checking out palladiumaddict.com. It is a forum, and might be able to give you a better idea of the place specifically and more recently.
  4. I have gotten a few spray tans before, I have had 2 good experiences and one not-so good one.... I would definitely do it again... but I would do a test run at the place you are looking at first. I will be using a tanning bed before I go. I have never used one before, but this time I will.
  5. This is very close to what we are going to do! Boarding passes for STD, MIBs for the formal invites, and passports for the welcome books!
  6. Okay, I am not sure of the order yet, but I think it will be: Marry Me (Train) Til There Was You (Beatles) God Only Knows (Beach Boys) - unless we walk back out to it 500 Miles - unless we walk out to it (haven't decided yet) Lost in this Moment (Big & Rich) Anything For Love (Meatloaf) I Wanna Grow Old With You (Adam Sandler) - if we sign a certificate or have a sand ceremony, we will use this for that instead Somebody's Getting Married (The Muppets - it's quite short, and from Muppets Take Manhattan, if anyone is interested) I'm Gonna Love You (Jennifer Love Hewitt) I am probably going to narrow this down more... but this is what I have for now.
  7. Definitely like. Speaking of, frozen yogurt?
  8. We are not going to Mexico, but I have heard a lot of people expressing that they are glad we are NOT going to Mexico. I have no problem with going to Mexico. The reason we are not is simply because we have been before. I would try to inform the people with concerns that your area is NOT experiencing any problems. People get hurt all over. Usually, tourists in touristy areas are fine. This is (obviously) not always the case, but no one is always safe anywhere. Things can happen anywhere. Just keep sending them information showing that your area is safe. Maybe direct them to reviews by other tourists who traveled to the area and made it back safe and sound. The fact is, if people are really freaked, they won't go no matter what. That sucks, but it is the way it is. My grandfather refuses to fly no matter what. I can assure him that everything will be fine, but the fact that there has ever been any flight go down is enough to make him miss out on my wedding. Similarly, the fact that some tourists have been hurt or worse somewhere in Mexico will make some of your guests not want to go at all.
  9. Oh, see, I didn't know that! I do have a local travel agent, though... I would love it if she could get rates as quickly as that!
  10. Hi LuckyC! Welcome! Where in Canada are you from? I am in Alberta, and we are looking to book here for July, 2013. We can't yet, but soon, hopefully! I have some information about the wedding packages from the resort itself. I am not sure if that will help answer your questions about extra costs or not... If it might, let me know and I will pass it on to you. I have been engaged for about 6 months (hard to believe that long already!), and I have been gathering information and making decisions ever since... well, tentative decisions anyway. Now I am just waiting to book, so I can fully decide on everything! I would recommend checking out the resort website and look at their rooms. That is what we are doing.... http://www.bahia-principe.com/BP/resorts/resort/CayoLevantado Also, normally I hate tripadvisor, but I do check out their Samana forum, since there are quite a few people on there who visit Cayo Levantado regularly. I even think I remember seeing someone ask about the bed situation there.http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g147294-i1628-Samana_Peninsula_Dominican_Republic.html There was a bride on here recently who had just returned from her wedding there, and she was wonderful about answering questions. Check through this thread, and maybe pm her. Hope all that helps! Welcome, and happy planning!
  11. Does anyone know how to MAKE a garter? I want one, maybe even just to put on at the end of the night. My BM found FI's tartan in a ribbon while in Scotland, and got it for me with the idea of me making it into a garter in mind. I would love to do it, but I am terrified of wrecking it! Any ideas?
  12. Oh, that is good to know, and so frustrating! What happened with the maracas?
  13. Hi! I have been having more great luck on etsy. I found some sand dollars for my place names; I spoke to a couple vendors, and both were amazing! If anyone wants sand dollars (or other shells), check out etsy. Or, I can direct you specifically to the wonderful ladies who helped me out. That being said, I wanted to warn some brides about cottonmania. They are based in Thailand, I believe. They have very cute little cotton wristlets with big flowers on them, perfect for a smartphone or room key. I was planning on getting some for the ladies in my wedding party, families, etc. The vendor, though, is terrible. I have almost never left a negative review on ANYTHING. But I am so, so glad that I didn't give him any money. I contacted him about the order I was about to put through. He was difficult to work with, and after I asked a question, I didn't hear from him for 2 weeks. Then I left a concerned email.... still no word. Finally, I left a strongly-worded, but still polite, message. Still nothing. I understand that I have a long time till my wedding, but he didn't know that. How difficult is it to respond? I understand, also, that there are cultural and language differences. I will be taking my money elsewhere. It is a shame; I really liked the style of those wristlets! So, if anyone is thinking about ordering from him, please make sure you get things in writing and keep track of your payment. I saw a couple reviews of people who never received their orders at all.
  14. Wow, really? I should do that! It has happened to me before, too, and I didn't even think to email about it. Excellent!
  15. I just wanted to share that this morning I discovered tophatter. It is an online auction by etsy sellers. I went on there to try to win a house decor item, which went for way more than I could pay, BUT I did buy 3 definitely underpriced jewelry, all great for the wedding, or bm gifts, or maybe just presents for myself! I got a beach charm bracelet, regularly priced for just under 30, for 12, and earrings also for 12 (regular price 18), and a seaglass necklace for 20 (regular I think was 24.) When I get pictures, I will post them. Anyway, it is a great way to get some items for different prices. Two of the items I bought also had free shipping to Canada; when their shops normally do not, and the other item had reduced shipping. The sellers often seem to be 'in the room' as well, if you have questions or anything. Anyway, just wanted to share. Kind of annoyed that I found this... I lack restraint and willpower. Maybe I need a bigger house?
  16. Yeah, I started picking things up here and there right after we got engaged, and I am not getting married until July 2013! But I want to make sure my bm, moh, and both moms have awesome gifts.Plus, I really think you save some money, because you get to buy during sales and do not have to rush anything.
