  1. Lovely! I didn't know that Michaels even HAD real touch! Awesome!
  2. I am so sorry to hear that. Best wishes to you!
  3. I am not sure about those prices... But I am curious about the time. When is your wedding? I just confirmed with the coordinator a time of 4 pm; she said they only do weddings at 3, 3:30 or 4. Our date is July though; maybe the time of year has something to do with it?
  4. What kind of experience have people had with Picaboo? I am familiar with Mixbook and Photobook Canada, but I am not sure about Picaboo.
  5. We got a whole bunch of the free ones... I used the same ones (different design obviously) before and they fit plenty. Maybe not huge towels, but t-shirts and some OOT items should be fine.
  6. This is incredible! And it looks like it fits you so well! Do you mind if I ask who it is by?
  7. These are awesome! Too bad they have such expensive shipping to Canada.
  8. Anyone interested in checking out the Calgary Bridal Expo in September... Groupon has a deal on tickets today. http://www.groupon.com/deals/bridal-expo-1?p=1&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&sid=a7c70b9c-8273-4195-9688-72e1cf6404a4&division=calgary&user=19a3ba9c15e1b81b98ed3550cc15dadaf742520f289e83771609b6cd825a7a80&date=20120818&s=body&c=deal_button&d=deal-page&utm_campaign=bridal-expo-1&fre=1 Just thought I would pass that along!
  9. http://www.clubhotelriuochorios.com/index.htm Is this the place? If so, check out the "Our Hotel" section. You could also weed through tripadvisor. They won't lay it out for you, but you will probably have someone reference a lack of adherence to the dress code or something like that. If you can skim through the ridiculousness that always is on there, you might be able to find something useful. If not, dress code across all inclusive a la cartes is generally the same: short sleeved, collared shirts for men, long pants. Dresses, skirts, or dress pants/shorts for women. Some resorts have a no-flip-flop policy, or men have to have covered shoes. Hope that helps.
  10. No, we book times closer to the date or upon arrival. They generally only do one wedding a day, and a bride on here told me they offer 3:30, 4, or 4:30. We are travelling in the off season and I know we have that date booked, I just don't know the time yet. Luckily all the times are close together... but I have a feeling if I pick one, it will probably change closer to the day.
  11. Thank you so much about the information about ceremony time! I am sure that we will be the only wedding that day, since they usually only do one and we are in the off season. But I did email the coordinator just to check. I have not yet heard of anyone having a DJ. I think we will either have an iPod or a CD for things like first dance. I am worried about this too, since I want to do a first dance and then a parent dance and I doubt we can do that at the disco. I wonder if there is a room or something that you can use to have a more traditional reception meal and such? I hope something works out...
  12. Wow what gorgeous invitations! I am doing message in a bottle ones, and I was wondering about ceremony time. We do not have ours, and I am not sure if we will before we arrive at the resort or not. If we do, it won't be till much closer to the date. Is it necessary to include the ceremony time on the invitations? Everyone will be at our resort anyway; and I am thinking that if I DO get to know a ceremony time in advance, I can include that information in our pre-travel mailout. What do you think?
  13. I really loved the idea of renting a picnic shelter for the day/night and doing something casual, but we are going more traditional. The whole purpose behind our AHR is to include my family, all of whom are in the same town and none of whom are likely to go to my wedding... maybe my parents and siblings. I also thought of holding it on my parents' farm, but was told that was not an option either, so I am going to rent the community centre in town (there is only a community centre and a legion in town) and we will do it there, on August 17. We are getting married July 18. There will be a lot of traditions there, like the bouquet toss, and we will show our video and have pictures up. I will wear my dress, but it is going to be a more casual dress anyway (I am even thinking of going short for the style). I am DIYing pretty much everything, from the music (playlist on our iPod) to little programs at everyone's seats (with info on bridal party as well as a quiz about us - I am a teacher and this was a nod to that) to the centrepieces to our dessert table (and all the desserts on it) to drink stirrers to the card box to all the decor... I am really trying to make it more intimate and personal. Thank goodness I have so long to do it! Though time is ticking... We are sending out separate AHR invites from our DW, which will have all of the information traditionally sent out in a wedding invite. We will probably do a buffet meal, which I am leaving to the professionals, and are planning on a "toonie" bar. We want to keep it wedding-y, but at the same time laid back... we want the best of everything! Um, I think that about covers it!
  14. At least, I know that is where she has shopped before, so I would THINK that is where she recommends. LOL!
  15. My mom has no desire to shop for anything wedding or be involved at all... she says she is on the fence about even going, so that part won't help. BUT my FMIL is very into it and has been picking up things here and there as she sees them on sale and such. I think right now she has three dresses in consideration! She is great at finding bargains, and all the dresses, and her taste in them, are awesome. She recommends Winners, Sears (or a Sears Outlet), and online, like Beyond the Rack. Hope that helps!
  16. What kind of clip art are you looking for? I generally just google what I am looking for and find something I like. For example, "two starfish clip art". What do you have in mind?
  17. I bought two blue parasols online, one for each of my girls, (weddingfavours.ca - I got the ones in "water blue"), and two white parasols for me for pictures, one saying "Just Married" and one saying "Thank You". I was torn on doing this, but thought I would be a little jealous of my girls' lovely ones! I bought the white ones with the writing already on them from a bride on here. At the top are the pictures the bride sent me, but I cropped them out to paste here. I almost went with three water blue ones, and just painted "Just Married" on one for myself, but then I saw the bride on here selling hers, and changed my mind. I think it will be good! As for the corsages, I posted them on this site after I made them, so I won't be redundant here, but here is the link: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/76439/this-is-all-just-peachy-keen-long-wedding-planning I included some instructions on how to make them, and pictures of all of them too. It's post #3. Hope that helps! Any other questions, let me know! Anything I can do to help!
  18. I believe that guests staying off-resort will need to pay a day pass. I am not sure about the transfer too, since you would have to do the water taxi to the island. Also not sure about guests staying at other GBP getting into the resort. I guess you are thinking Cayacoa? I am sure that day passes will be necessary for off-resort guests though if they are just at a random hotel on the mainland.
  19. Out of curiosity, was anybody able to get their ceremony time set in advance? My photographer is wanting to know when he is making the trip down, and we need to know if we are getting him one night or two at the hotel. I have not been able to get ahold of the wedding coordinator (of course) so I was just wondering if they even give you a ceremony start time prior to arrival?
  20. Wow what a crazy few days! While in Calgary, we stopped at Forever 21, where we saw these dresses that FI and I both liked for BM dresses. I had decided to make the multiway dresses for them, but then I saw these and the price tag... $33! Seriously! I cannot buy material that inexpensive. There were only two left in the store, in the sizes that we were after. I took it as a sign, and bought them. It turns out my sister (MOH) will have to have hers taken in a bit, but not too bad. I am still very pleased with them. Sorry about the bad quality pics. All taken on my cell, in a mall; my sister threw hers on over her tights (and lovely shoes!) just to see the style. But it gives you an idea anyway. I am happy with them. I had not really thought of doing a one-shoulder before, but we like the colour and the material and the "feel" of them... kind of bohemian/vintage. So I am happy. Also, I got back some proofs of my bd pics. I am ecstatic with these too! Now to pick my favourites and see some that have actually been finished! Very excited! I think FI is going to flip! Just kind of disappointed that he knows about them already. Well, he doesn't know about the book he is getting!
