  1. We did message in a bottle invitations (DIY) and they said: Should this message find you... In a paradise, together with their parents, Bride and Groom Invite you to share in the sun, the sea and the sand as they become husband and wife Thursday, the eighteenth of July, two thousand and thirteen, at four o'clock in the afternoon. Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Samana, Dominican Republic Love is the treasure of life. === And our RSVP card said: ___ We'll "sea" you there! Save us ___ beach chairs. ___ Sorry, we are all "tide" up and must "wave" our invitation
  2. The same thing is happening with us and Air Canada Vacations. I guess I will start emailing too.
  3. Haha! Thanks ladies! And yes, we hand-delivered most of them. To be fair, not everyone got the fancy treasure chests... some people got painted cardboard boxes (but I did not get a picture of those ones.) We only had to mail 5 I think. Or close to that. I love them! And we have heard lots of nice compliments.
  4. Any more ideas? I have a couple single young men coming... my brothers. There is not golf at the resort... And everyone is already getting a hat and playing cards. I would like to put something special in there geared just for them. The bubba kegs that everyone is getting also has a bottle opener attached, so I am not sure about doubling up on those. But maybe that would be the way to go, I do not know.
  5. I have a hair flower and want to add a birdcage veil to it, but I would like the option of taking off the veil part after the ceremony, leaving me with just the flower. I will be DIYing this. I was just wondering if there was an easy way to attach or detach the veil to the flower so I will not need to take the flower out of my hair to remove the veil. I have very thin hair, and am worried about fiddling with it too much on the day of. I would love some advice on this one!
  6. It takes a few for it to recognize that you made it past 150... I think mine started working at 154 or something like that.
  7. It is hard to say, since prices vary so much. Our photography package is cheaper, but since we are getting married away from where he is located we have to pay for a room for him for a couple nights... It adds up to about the same. Ceremony and reception is cheaper for us. Are you including attire? Decor? Airfare and accommodation is much more expensive for us... we are there two weeks though, but it is about what you have quoted per person for us. My engagement ring is much less expensive (which is what I wanted) and our bands will be too. For both of our bands together we MIGHT pay $300. At very most. It all depends on your location, your group, and your priorities. Budgets REALLY vary a lot.
  8. congrats on your wedding there! I would love to see pictures! Where did you have your reception?
  9. We have a small group, so I do not have too many to make, and we were able to hand-deliver most of them. I just thought I would share a couple pictures... Sorry for the lousy and shadowy pictures... I will try to find a better one once I get them all lined up. We had three types. Most people got them in old shoeboxes spraypainted. The bridal party and grandparents got small treasure chests. All those ones got the sand-painted styrofoam, The parents each got a large treasure chest with a pillow I sewed instead of the sand "bed". The treasure chests were from Jysk (50% off). The paints, fishing net, shells, sand and paper (which I burnt around the edges) were from Michaels. (All with at least 40% off coupons). I printed them at home. FI fiddled with an old map we found online of DR and faded it out for the background. We just hot glued a couple shells onto the fishing net and hung it on the bottles. The tag has the person (or couple's) name and address on one side, and the other side has our wedding date and wedding website. The people who have received them so far are absolutely raving!
