  1. You could wear wedges. When I wear heels in grass I tend to sink. I have heard that at some bridal shops and such they sell little things that attach to the bottoms of your heels and are clear and make a wider flat bottom. That may help, but I do not remember what they are called.
  2. No need to match perfectly I think. We only have a best man... he is wearing a white shirt and khaki pants; FI is wearing white on white (we think)
  3. What kind of questions were you asked?
  4. Looking for some help here. We are travelling with Air Canada Vacations and they have switched our flight times NUMEROUS times... even changing the dates. I would like to send an email about this, and was hoping somebody would have some contact information. I tried looking on the website, but I had no luck. I know brides in the past have contacted airlines and travel companies and been rewarded with certain things... points to a next trip. or upgrades. So what does it hurt, I figure. Even if we do not get anything, a little polite feedback cannot hurt. So I was hoping that SOMEBODY had some idea on who to email about that. Thanks!
  5. DITTO. Exactly. I am trashing my dress. It was a gift from my parents... though I have not told them about my water-wearing plans yet. I am just wearing it in the ocean and maybe the pool. I was planning on wearing it to my AHR... but I have heard from so many people that rinsing the dress out in the shower after being in the ocean actually makes it cleaner than just having it on the sand. SO I am going for it. That is the whole idea to me, too.
  6. Things have changed since a lot of this stuff was posted... They used to send out free items emails all the time... Now you kind of have to search for anything to be free. A lot of brides use the groupons that come out a lot. For the business cards, you can still get some free. Just click on "business cards", then scroll down in the menu that comes up to Free Business Cards. They do not have a huge selection of free ones, but they do have 4 pages... The ones I used are dark blue with a palm tree, and they are on page 3. Hope that helps.
  7. Oh, that was one of our original first choices! Lovely!
  8. I think it depends on your guests and such. We are going to have an iPod set up just for music during dinner. We also want to do our dances there, but the coordinator said that they usually do the first dances on the beach right after the ceremony. For the party, we are heading to the disco on the beach. I asked my brother to announce things. We will have a small group though, so that will be easier. As it stands now, this is our timeline: Ceremony Group picture Pictures on the beach - family first, then bridal party, then couple. As each "group" finishes, they can go to resort lobby lounge - I do not think we will do a private cocktail hour, we will just meet everyone. Meet at reception area Announcement Bride/Groom Dance Parents Dance (we are probably combining the father/daughter one with the mother/son one, then we are giving my mom and his dad the opportunity to dance at the same time if they wish... kind of like bringing together both families.) Toasts Dinner Cutting of the Cake Move to disco? I think that is how it stands now, anyway!
  9. Personally, I would go with them but I am not too picky about stuff like that. If you are wearing a long dress they will just peek out anyway. I was in the same boat. My shoes were okay... good colour and height, and a wedge, which is what I wanted, but they had this soft veloury material on the wedge itself. Not great for a beach, but I decided I didn't care and the price was awesome, so oh well. I am happy enough with them, and I dressed them up with a sparkly DIY shoe clip, so now I like them more and do not even notice the weird finish on the bottom. I know that coral is a hard colour to find the way you want it... so if you are happy with them, I say go for it. But you have to figure how high a priority they are for you. If shoes are your favourite thing in the world, then maybe keep looking.
  10. Great idea! Question: Did you use a groupon for your items? If so, can the $17 go towards shipping too? Just curious! Everything looks great so far!
  11. Definitely heard about it, but I cannot say I have been there. It sounds like it would be good for a stagette... and two of the places we have stayed before had buses going there from the resort, so that is handy too.
  12. Congrats! Where are you getting married?
  13. Really? Where did you try in Michaels? They usually have it in the section where the wreaths and foam blocks are. Otherwise, I have seen it at Walmart and even dollar stores.
  14. Cannot remember if I posted this or not... I let FI pick the song. I should have known he would choose something quite untraditional... I was envisioning a slow dance on the beach... but he elected, "Hey Soul Sister" by Train. At least it is a song I like!
  15. I think we are going to Banff too. I live in Lethbridge, but the girls are scattered all over the place. I had asked for Moose Jaw weekend, actually, but I think the girls decided it was too far away. Banff will still be good though.
  16. Some of us are meeting at the airport, and some are meeting the night before at the hotel. Most are being given the night before at the hotel... simply to even out the packing! I think they will not be expecting anything, so it will all be good! I hope they are surprised! The only thing with the airport is then they have to carry it on if they have already checked their bags... Which may be a problem if they already have a carry on. Unless you meet them right at the entrance to do the giving? That would work. What a way to get it all started!
  17. There are only perks if we book more than a certain amount (20 I think) and we won't make that number I don't think. I would love to get bumped up because of the changes though, so I will cross my fingers for that. Extra baggage would be a great bonus. Hopefully you get it!
