Hawaii sounds wonderful too! I'm so glad there is someone else patiently awaiting a ring :-)
  2. Good luck with the planning. Picking the destination always feels like the hardest part. It only gets easier
  3. Hi Girls, I noticed a lot of people were printing their invites on their own. I know some were using vista print. I wanted to know if you all have recommendations on where to print invites? Did you use an online service? A neighborhood service? Did you have to resize everything? Anyone use their own printer? Any advice would be great. Kate
  4. I don't think it's rude to ask at all! I mean, in the olden days it was pretty much assumed that they would contribute. But at the same time, if they do contribute, sometimes that comes with strings attached, so you have to be ready for that. I would just think it's pretty rude to expect them to pay a certain amount or to take out of their retirement savings for a over-the-top wedding.
  5. Those are funny little twists on the kissing game. Thankfully, I'm marrying a Brit, so we will not be forced to play that game.
  6. I guess it partly depends on how long you'll be outside.
  7. Personally, I want to get that step out of the way as soon as possible, but we're also going short engagement (engagement: soon, wedding: 9/3/11)
  8. I really like both of them! I'd go with the second one personally, but whatever is more your style!
  9. Those look great. Do they come with an instruction manual? I've heard they are sometimes a bit difficult to figure out. But that will definitely be fun for your bridesmaids!
  10. Thats really cute! Pretty cheap and easy too :-)
  11. Wow, some of these sound like pretty formal receptions. We're planning just an informal BBQ maybe with some favors from Thailand. But everything is coming out of our (very small) pockets.
  12. A week sounds quite rushed. Do you even get off of jet lag before that? Well, I guess a lot of destinations you may not have to deal with that. We're having 3 AHR's, one in my hometown, one in his and one where we both live right now. One is a week after, one is 2 months and the other 3 months. I don't see much of a rush for it though. Do people see it as a part of the wedding?
  13. Wow, those magnets are such a great idea! I especially love the one with the airplane, it's so creative!
  14. I think any mention of gifts may be a bit touchy for some people. But I do think people understand that you want them to be a part of the process but understand if people cannot go.
  15. wow, just that little starfish adds so much to the design and feel of it. I love the colors too.
  16. Those look amazing! Great job. I especially love the accents on the right side of the ticket.
  17. Wow! I was totally set on boarding pass invitations until I saw these! Phenomenal!
  18. Anyone who did it themselves have any comments? Did it take a long time? Did it turn out how you wanted?
  19. Those all look so nice. Why pay when you can do something that wonderful by yourself.
  20. That's a great idea! They're unique and they match and even may bring a little shade.
  21. I love them! that's a great idea! How much was postage on those? I assume it cost a little extra
  22. I don't think that's too bad...unless EVERYTHING matched, then it sometimes feels like overkill.
