  1. Hi Emma, We live on Cozumel full-time and have been to Isla Pasion several times. It's a pretty cool venue. Very private, with an outstanding beach. I wouldn't worry about where your guests stay, there are several hotels/resorts on the north side of the island that can accommodate everyone. Check out Hotel B or the Coral Princess. The Melia and Playa Azul are also on the north end near the dock of Isla Pasion. The great thing about the location, which you can't get on the mainland, is that the beach faces west and you'll get beautiful photos with the sun setting over the Caribbean. Just like these that we shot a little south of Isla Pasion last Saturday night. Don't hesitate to contact us if you need more information about Cozumel. Best of luck, Jennifer
  2. Hi Brooke, Make sure to check out Melissa at http://www.cancunhairandmakeup.com/
  3. I can recommend both playaweddings and rhinovisuals. If you decide to go with video make sure you get someone who is professional and knows how to work with your photographer, too. It's terrible when you get someone that doesn't communicate or consider where your photographer is in order for both to stay out of the photos/video. Best of luck ladies!
  4. Hi, You might also check out Melissa with MVP. http://www.cancunhairandmakeup.com/ Adrian is great, too. Best of luck to you!
  5. Another suggestion would be Melissa with MVP. There's usually a breeze coming off the ocean so keep that in mind. http://www.cancunhairandmakeup.com/
  6. Make sure to check this other thread ladies for more comments about local photographers. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/67635/who-is-the-best-photographer-in-the-cancun-riviera-maya-area-please-help Best of luck in your planning! Jennifer
  7. Congratulations Keri (who lives in one of our favorite cities in the world), We think you would be hard pressed to find a better destination than the Riviera Maya for a destination wedding. We live here, got married here and love it! Here is our take on the different resorts here on our blog. However, you said a fall wedding and you should know that the entire Caribbean and Pacific coast's most active hurricane months are September and October. The water will be nice and warm and the prices will be good, but I wouldn't chance it. If you are set on the fall, I would wait until November. Best of luck, Jennifer
  8. Hi, We used mywedding.com and thought it was easy to design, quick to load and provided all of the details that guests needed. We would send the link, but we were married two and a half years ago and the page is no longer active. Jennifer
  9. I think it is a good idea to ask a lot of questions of each resort, especially understand the outside vendor fees. We're biased, but I wouldn't trust a resort photographer to document the most important day of your life. This blog post may help with understanding how some of the resorts work. Good luck with your planning, Jennifer & Michael (former Coloradans)
  10. Hi Kimberly, I think it is easily done in six months. If you can't do a site visit, spend time on this forum and look at a lot of web sites. To understand the differences between big resorts and boutique hotels on the Riviera Maya, take a look at this blog post. Good luck with your search, Jennifer
  11. Hi Amanda, Great question. In some ways, your style and the type of wedding you hope to have will drive your choice. The AIs tend to have more weddings, even multiple weddings on the same day. Many of them have a lot of rooms, which translates into lots of gawkers at your wedding, maybe even people in beachwear in the photos. Smaller, boutique hotels avoid this and, as Ali and Jonathan said, give you the opportunity to visit a variety of local restaurants. We have a blog post about the differences between the two on the Riviera Maya. We hope it helps. Good luck, Jennifer
  12. Hey PickyBride, We recently shot a wedding at Dreams PA. Their are some nice locations for photos and the gazebo area juts out into the ocean, so there are no scantily clad bathers in your wedding photos. There were a lot of activities for kids and the food we had was decent. Here is a link to the blog post showing the wedding and a few more photos posted below. Good luck, Jennifer
  13. Hey 11-30-13, Site visits are the way to go. Hope this weeks cood weather is still better than what you left in Denver (we moved to the Riviera Maya from Colorado more than two years ago). Not only should you check out web sites for finding the right photographer's style, but we strongly suggest a Skype call so you and your fiance can "meet" with your potential photographer. There is a lot of talented photographers here, but you should also "click" with the photographer you choose. Best of luck, Jennifer
  14. Hi Mirandasjb, We love the smaller boutique hotels along the Riviera Maya and on Cozumel. There are several we would recommend and we do so on our blog. You can read about them here. Don't miss looking at Le Reve, The Viceroy and Al Cielo near Playa del Carmen; Las Ranitas, Be Tulum and Ana y Jose in Tulum; and Hotel B on Cozumel. I think you have made a wise choice to go to a small property where your wedding will be the only wedding on that day. You'll certainly receive more attention from the staff. Choosing a small place also will mean that their won't be a crowd of people in swimming suits in the background of your photos. Good luck, Jennifer
  15. Hi Hanie, I guess you are looking at May for Tulum. Prices tend to come down after Easter on the Riviera Maya. We have shot weddings at Ana y Jose and at Las Ranitas. The Ana y Jose wedding was during the first week of June and the hotel was nearly empty during the following week. So, timing does matter as far as pricing goes. We do like Tulum since it has more boutique hotels with style, rather than big resorts that often seem impersonal. Good luck, Jennifer Here are a few photos from that area.
